Film Most Disturbing Movie(s)?

Serbian film didn't faze you?

Side note my mate is in spit on your grave 2 ?

Nope! I actually enjoyed A Serbian Film...did not faze even the tiniest little bit, though.

Cool! Who did s/he play? That movie is one of the darkest movies I have ever seen. It actually left me feeling cold. It makes the first one seem like a Pixar movie.

A Serbian Film
Nekromantik
The War Zone
Dead Ringers
I Stand Alone
Irreversible
Men Behind the Sun
Martyrs
Inside
Aftermath
Visitor Q
Salo or the 120 Days of Sodom

I'm wondering that nobody mentioned Gummo yet. IMO it's definitely in the TOP 10 of most disturbing movies with Irreversible and Enter the Void both directed by the great Gaspar Noé.

Irreversible is great but I prefer I Stand Alone.

Why would Gummo be considered disturbing?

Just watched Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals and rewatched A Serbian Film and Cannibal Holocaust.

Emanuelle... - honestly, in the top 10 worst movies I have ever seen. I mean, you don't expect a cinematic masterpiece when watching a 70's cannibal movie but fuck me this was piss poor. The first 2/3 is some really unsexy sex (every 5 minutes, but in a bad way) followed by a couple of underwhelming cannibal scenes in the end. The only redeeming quality was two pretty decent gore scenes, but it just isn't worth it.

A Serbian Film - still enjoyed this a second time around. Feels a bit mainstream for me. I mean, really? You're gonna try and impress up with "newborn porn"? It's like; been there, done that...I wanna fuck a zygote!

Cannibal Holocaust - third time I've seen this Probably the only cannibal movie I'd say is actually a good movie. I like the whole "who are the real savages?" angle. Although I generally hate found footage movies, you gotta give it props for being the first one. I'll only ever watch this illegally for free because fuck any of my money going to people who actually tortured animals for a movie.

Moebiuseu, schramm, any movie where they do this, oh my god, no, horrible. Couldn't stand watching dead man's shoes either, had to turn it off. Anything lynch makes me lol, he's just too funny.

What was wrong with Dead Mans Shoes?
Hmm, never heard of Moebiuseu. Gonna look it up.

It gave me anxiety attacks, the whole atmosphere of the movie is depressing. Don't remember much about it, just don't put it on with friends thinking you're gonna have a good time.

Hmm...I'll start. These are probably the movies I have seen that would most disturb people:

Grotesque (2009)
A Serbian Film
Salo, or The 120 Days of Sodom
Requiem for a Dream
Red Room
Red Room 2
I Spit On Your Grave 2 (2013)
Cannibal Holocaust
Inside (2007)
Anti-Christ
Philosophy of a Knife
The Men Behind the Sun
The Angel's Melancholia
Irreversible
The "Guinea Pig" series
August Underground
Schramm
Santa Sangre
Martyrs
The Girl Next Door
Twilight
Nekromantik
Earthlings
Taxidermia
Threads
Eraserhead
Cutting Moments
Sheitan
Freaks (1932)
Man Bites Dog
The Elephant Man
The House That Jack Built
Carne

There's probably a bunch more I can't think of right now.
Twilight?

'Antichrist' by Lars Von Trier is all kinds of fucked up. Check it out if you want to be disturbed.

I love Lars Von Trier 'Melancholia' with Kirsten Dunst. It's an end of the world type of film done incredibly well and beautifully shot. Don't watch it if you're super depressed and on the edge, it's definitely not uplifting at all. It's brilliant though. I think he made it during a 2 year debilitating depression phase.

Martyrs was intense, I would not watch that again. Gore/torture heavy.

The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things is pretty disturbing/dark in a way.

Begotten would be dark IMO if I could not find it too boring to sit through without background music, or something.

Spun is a fairly dark movie, I don't enjoy every scene in it. 8(

Uhmmmmm there are others but these are some that "Some may enjoy watch at your own risk"

oh and Mysterious Skin is a must watch NC-17 you were warned

Begotten is a commonly suggested one but I agree with you: I got bored. Plus, I couldn't really see what was happened with the extremely out-of-focus black and white cinematography.

I think I'll re-watch Mysterious Skin. I watched it like 10 years ago when I was like 12/13 so I don't really remember much apart from it being about two young boys who were sexually abuse by a baseball coach. Why was it NC-17? I don't remember anything particularly "bad" in it? Maybe because it kinda suggested one of the 8-year-old boys was a sexual being and (sort of) enjoyed it?

Spun isn't dark! I love it! I watch it whenever I'm on amphetamines xD. I think it's fun. And Brittany Murphy is always great.
Can you think of a movie where she plays a psychologically normal person?

In Spun she plays a neurotic meth addict. In Don't Say a Word she's in a psychiatric hospital malingering various symptoms and also has PTSD. In Girl, Interrupted she's again in a psychiatric hospital, just generally fucked up from being fucked by her dad (and liking it).

That sounds like porn.

'Midnight Meat Train' is a good horror movie with Bradley Cooper. I always laughed at the title because they have to know it sounds like a porno.

It feels close to porn in some scenes in the worst way possible.

I'm definitely going to have to spend an evening watching Midnight Meat Train now, I can't believe a film with that title actually exists in reality
