I think its discrimination to allow alcohol bars everywhere but people don't have a place to sociallly smoke weed. lets have the drug that makes you violent and fuck anything and not able to drive...make people drive somewhere, give them this drug and see what happens. Let people smoke weed together in a weed bar? illegal.

there was a Place that it was allowed where it was a church and you could smoke on site...it was awesome but it got shut down after a couple years.

There's one open in West Hollywood, the Lowell Cafe. Most states with cannabis stores haven't created places to consume though. I think it's just taking time as the law gets up and running. Colorado is moving towards allowing consumption facilities now. California's was built into the law.

I lived on Santa Monica in WH, where the hell is Lowell?

Right near there, on La Brea just north of Santa Monica. They just opened a few months ago. You can even bring your own weed, I think it's like a $30 charge to use their glassware and be able to smoke there though (like a corkage fee at a restaurant). In the articles I've read they said their biggest problem so far has been getting people to leave lol Their reservation book is full for weeks and there's been a line since they opened for walk-ins.

Based on my understanding of the law, the ones in Colorado are basically using the old medical marijuana loophole, and are on their way out. Denver passed an initiative to license cannabis consumption establishments in 2016 or 18 I think, but I'm not sure any are open yet.

Theyve had them since ‘17, you paid a small fee to join. I cant believe I missed it though, used to walk on SM and La Brea often.

It's good to hear that its in the works and hopefully we can expect them soon. meanwhile silicon valley won't even let a fucking dispensary open yet we have alcohol bars (that don't get used) like ten on every block.

I don't see the point of smoking at a cannabis bar in the first place. If there's one drug I wana use alone that isn't a disso or psych, it's weed. Far too prone to social anxiety.

That's why we have bars. They sell drinks that specifically disinhibit you socially so you wana talk to people.

yes, but when you are 'in route' it is nice to have a place to stop and smoke, like a rest area 😁.👍🏼

i used to get social anxiety from weed. Its the opposite effect now. I think for many weed is a social lubricant. Plus its the only legal drug i do anymore and I know nobody that does drugs anymore, so all this being high alone gets lonely after a while. I guess that why BL is so popular.

We've had BYOP lounges for years before legalization in Toronto, IIRC they were all taking advantage of possession falling into a legal gray area because the courts just refused to see any more cases.

Anyway, I don't find them as interesting as pubs. The fun about drinking at a pub is that it creeps up on you slowly and draws you in until you've pretty well tuned out anyone who isn't at your table. Toking though? It makes you really aware of people and the noise and it's just hard keeping a train of thought going in such an environment.

These exist in some places where weed is legal. Although yeah, when I smoke I prefer it to be with amfriend or two, not really with a bunch of strajngers. That's just me personally though. I also don't go to bars to drink, I just feel like a chump spending 10 times as much as it costs at the store, and I'd rather hang out at a friend's house or something anyway. The exception is going to see shows, since they won't let you bring your own.

I was going to post the same thing, but I swear most of them have shut down in the last 2-3 years. I could be wrong, maybe I'm misremembering hearing about shutdowns. Voluntary shutdowns, not forced ones.
I don't touch weed, so I'm not too familiar.
It'd be weird that they'd shut down as it was being legalised. Then again, maybe it makes sense in that now there's no need to go hide with like-minded people in a basement or attic.

COME WITH ME, BROTHER! I just hope you have a time machine! ;)

They used to be in my hood until the city "legalized" and they got shut down before that point, even. *MASSIVE EYEROLL AND SHRUG*

sure you can drink alcohol at a bar... or a club... or a restaurant... or a ___________ ... or to the point where you die from it like my ex (rip) ...

or shoot tar or crack or meth with the junkies in skid row but
GOD
FORBID
YOU
SMOKE
CANNABIS
ANYWHERE
BUT
IN
PRIVATE

*eyeroll continues for rest of life*

discrimination
This. They want us to use opiates and not smoke cannabis. The Asian > Latino racism exists and is nasty. I should drop the mic here and say "no race discussion" but there are obvious societal parallels here. 8(

weed is legal
over-regulated

and the CONSERVATIVE media try to flamboyantly (;) TO ENTICE AND GET THE LIBERALS ON BOARD) hate Trump for deregulation (even though he's doing the WRONG kind, not the RIGHT kind, which 0.00001% of CNN coverage is predicated upon...) <--- side bar for when we take it into the CEP media debate ;)
