I just cant understand why people would believe in something, such as religion, that was created by men to control men, so strongly that they would sacrifice and take others lives just to control a piece of infertile desert. Because of a building that used to stand long ago , but now only a single section of wall remains.

I just cant wrap my brain around how people can honestly take religion at face value.

Keep in mind, I never said I didnt believe in God. I just don't at all like religion. Imagine where we would be at today as a civilization had the church not killed any outside the box thinkers and stiffled progress as they did. For a thousand years. Only in the last 200, since the founders of the United States had the brilliance to seperate church from government..

PS: Ill get off my soap box after this last point, America was NOT founded on christian values. We were NOT founded based around ANY religion

Some of religious movements/churches in the US are absolutely insane.
But then again, there is a vast supply of lunatics cultivated, to keep them in business. 🤔

Isn't freedom of religion enshrined in the US Constitution, though?

It is, which means you are free to worship Zues or Athenia if you'd like. However you cannot bring religion, any religion, into any publicly owned place or situation. They were so adamant about it that one of the clauses of the first commandment specifically prohibits it.

I agree man. I don't understand why more people cant be open minded. But maybe alot of it is that,by the time they realize its all a sham-they are way too invested and committed to the propaganda they were raised on to let themselves admit theyve been living a lie. Pride might keep them from admitting-even to themselves, that they are wrong.
Idk, just my 2 cents.

Completely agree.

What I find sad is how limiting believing in a particular God makes reality for you. IF you want your mind blown, go watch some of the documentaries about dark matter, and dark energy.

The universe is expanding.. and its accelerating in its expansion. We have NO idea why or how its doing it.

Thats what keeps me up at night, not fictional stories that were designed as fables. To be taken as lessons, not literal fact. There's no direct evidence Jesus Christ even existed. Thats kind of crazy when all you have to do is look up at the sky, and see the craziest shit you could imagine..

People are weird man, I understand trying to find comfort not knowing what happens when we die, but thats just it. We don't, we won't know till it happens, and when it does happen we won't be able to tell everyone else. Its OUT of your control, so stop trying to fill that void and look around you.

I'm ranting, it just pains me when people push religion on others. First off. If you are happy with your faith, I'll support your right to be able to freely worship. But if you actively prey on the young and weak minded. Then I have a major problem

^ I can understand the benign & comfort aspect of it but yes, when the controlling & insidious, power dynamics are unquestioned, it is beyond noxious.

Also, I guess the fact that you can shoot Jehovah's Witnesses on your property is some kind of comfort - swings & roundabouts. 😉

And don't get me wrong, i have no clue what the truth may be. Or even if there is a higher power. I do believe there is, but whatever 'it' is something inherently unknowable. Organized religion came about when people needed a way to control other people:

If you do good you get rewarded when you die, if you do bad you will be tortured when you die.

Also if you are a religious person and you are happy with what you believe. In some ways i envy you. But you have no right to push your beliefs on anyone.

That applies to myself and being agnostic.

Definitely not religious.

Im definitely not religious. I agree 100% about people pushing beliefs on people. Not cool.

I try not to label what i am i guess. I just try to be a good guy and help my fellow man when i can. I try to put good out and hope to receive good in. But im human and make many mistakes.

I am completely comfortable knowing that i have no idea what "it" is, or what this might all be about. I know when i die i can at least say i was honest with myself and used my brain to the best of my ability as far as believing in a higher power.

I just hate seeing people kill and hate each other over what imaginary higher power they believe in.

^people kill and hate each other over for various excuses, as far as I can tell. If we dont have a reason, then we will find one; ideologically. Seems to be part of human excuse for coping with the denial of complexity and intrinsic confusion/its opposite - the pain of nothingness.
