Most people read the rules and if they don't, they accept whichever photo is chosen. If they don't read the rules and the wrong one gets chosen, that's on them. It's not your fault.

I'm not salty. I'm obviously not even in contention to win this round. I just think for contests we need to abide by rules. If we don't, the results are meaningless. Might as well just drop the poll and share our photos if we keep switching.

I do think it would simplify everything to say one photo per user per thread. That way there's no ambiguity or pointless work for xorkoth.

I thought the rules were stated that you may enter as many submissions as you would like, but that the last photo submitted would be the one entered into the contest. I was the first to have theirs changed, but tbf the photo that was put on the ballot was not neither the last one I posted (Orca) or the one I requested (Solar Eclipse) to be entered. That's why my flower was changed to the eclipse.
I like the ability to put in multiple submissions but in my if the rules would be followed as they should be.
@Zopiclone bandit I'm not upset that you are winning by any means, but how is that photo not edited besides filters and such? It looks like some large changes were made to the new photo. It certainly does not look like a single photograph.

Honestly it's probably good this happened so that we can iron out everything in future rounds. It's good that we are getting so many new participants lately. I'm not gonna sweat it too much. I wasn't trying to create a controversy.

It is ONE PHOTO I swear to God.
Yeah the contrast has been messed with a bit IN CAMERA & BEFORE I pressed the shutter, it sure hasn't been photoshopped or anything like that.
Go look at the work of Daido Moriyama & Takuma Nakahira, they were working post WW2 on film, I understand how to some the effect MAY look like it's been edited to death but when you learn a few tricks you can also pull this stuff off.

This was NEVER edited, it was shot at night in China Town with a long exposure for example yet it looks edited to death

This was shot through a bus window on a rainy day, yet again a longer exposure than normal but also NO edit one bit & look at the effect it caused.
It's no good getting salty because I spent months learning by my mistakes how to use a camera & watched the Japanese masters on Youtube, went over their work for days on end. You too an learn how to do this if you want, don't hate on me just because you disagree with my views on certain subjects.

I'm not too concerned about it either. Editing in terms of the methods/exposure time/etc, and filters, used with the camera is 100% allowed, it's post-processing Photoshop stuff that isn't. In the future I will come up with some more solid rules on when submissions can be changed and try to reach out to those with multiple submissions beforehand. We used to just allow one submission and I can see why. Anyway no sweat, "anything goes", right?

you should allow post processing in photoshop. why not. it’s part of photography and any photo that doesn’t go through post isn’t really finished. it does not create an unfair advantage. smartphone photos often win these comps and unlike a decade ago, everyone now has access to postwork software. it’s just that some use phone apps and others use pro software. anyone can download gimp for free, if they want access to pro/fine art software.

Sounds cool to me. I'm not a photographer or anything. I was just curious as to how the pic was not edited. Wasnt upset by it in the least. @Zopiclone bandit I am not trying to argue with you or saying you broke the rules or anything, just wanted to know how it was done like that and not edited besides filters/contrast/ect. My apologies if I came across that way.

Photoshopping in digital is the equivalent to the dark room in the film days. IMHO it should be allowed.

I dont agree myself. This is a photo competition, not a creative photography competition. Maybe have a separate compo for the arty farty types with posh equipment and too much time, but I say leave this as it is because absolutely anyone stands a chance of winning.

Yeah, you're gonna be creating a class system within the competition. Those with the know how and the $ will have a big advantage over those of us who just submit pictures.

Those of us who only have our phones are already at a disadvantage. Won't be any point competing if this happens.
