I donated to MAPS through the Bluelight link in order to get my 1 name change (and support the cause), but I never got the email that you said they send afterwards that I'm supposed to forward to you guys with the new name that I want? Does it take a really long time to receive the email or something? What should I do? I really want my name changed. Thank you.

The process is not that we send YOU an email, but that YOU email the ADMIN a copy of the receipt (how else do we know which account the donation goes towards?). I checked the admin email and don't see any such emails to us.

No, I get that. The post said to email the Donation Receipt email from Maps to you guys, that I was supposed to get after donating to them. Never got the receipt email from MAPS after I donated to them though so I'm unsure what to do now. Do I email MAPS somehow and ask for a receipt? It's been hours and I still haven't gotten the receipt email.

Thank you very much! I just emailed it to you. I appreciate it dude, sorry for the inconvenience. I'll think longer before I make a permanent decision next time lol, this damn Gabapentin has me so impulsive and stupid.
 
I need to make a donation apparently. My name is absurd, I know. Sorry. Also the formatting makes it even worse. I think I was drinking when I signed up. I'm not new to the forum. I want to get my shit in order here though.

Perhaps I can endure this absurdity for the time being.

I've said before, I think it's an awesome name. I just saw the typo, I guess to shorten it? Still, I love it. Up to you, though. Honestly, though, people often end up going by nicknames most days. For example, I'm simply TLB; you could be Prof or ProfH (don't go for PHD, there's some bad juju on that one around here); and leet goes by leet. Whatever works for you.

It truly sucks that it takes so much effort to ditch Bluelight. I think there is tons of useful information here, it's a valuable resource, but I'm sick of people making you say things I did not say. One time I asked a question and was actually told by a mod to "Go google it"... What's the point of being in a forum if I'm told to go find my own answers?

But I did heed that advice. I always do my own research now and I actually think I'm able to get better answers on my own, ones that are more well rounded, have more complexity. And I don't need to tailor my curiosity to suit the standards of others. It's happened one too many times that I was made to feel that I was saying something pointless or illicit. Pursuing that noble need of this forum to be about "harm reduction," it ignores potentially valuable content. You often get "We can't possibly answer that, there's no point in discussing that!" when yes, maybe there is a relevant discussion there even if there are some caveats.

Anyway, as indicated by the FAQS, I sent a PM to a Mod asking kindly to assist me in deleting some of my posts in threads that are closed or archived.... I did not receive a reply. Let me know if there is an Admin or someone else who can help me. Again, I'm asking nicely.

Hey I requested this in the past and thankfully found this thread before making my own and looking stupid.

I would really like to change my username as I've said several times in the past. I think I talked to an admin about this via PM at one point but I can't remember. Can't check either as I deleted all my PMs because I thought my account was at risk of being hacked into at one point and went on a deletion spree.

I can not send donations through online/digital means. So my question is as follows: Is there a way to send a donation as cash? Sort of that. Would you be willing to accept some work in exchange for a name change? I'm sure there must be something you need help with or some task people dislike having to do. I'd be willing to maybe do an on-going thing for free if you guys would let me do that.

I want to change my name because I'm not a fan of LSD anymore and I've never really liked my name here. I made it on a whim one day because I wanted to ask a question after lurking here since back in the late 90s/early 2000s or whenever it was I discovered this place when Overgrow.com was censoring any mention of it. I just remember you guys were running UBB back then. I remember because I loved version 6.x of UBB and wrote a lot of software for it. So when I saw it still running instead of vBulletin I was really excited because a lot of forums were converting over to vB at that time and I hadn't become involved with them yet.

Anyway, I've been pestering about this for awhile. So I was hoping maybe I could finally get it done somehow. I'd send a meager donation (can't even afford $25 at the moment, gotta eat) but I could sent maybe $10 or something through the mail in cash or maybe a money order. Assuming I can still find a local place that sells those. I send cash to a computer club every year that's been around since the 80s. But most other places don't seem to want to accept cash donations these days.

I can't do crypto, paypal, credit/debit or any of that stuff anymore. I no longer have a bank account. I no longer have a cell phone. So I've effectively been locked out of most things these days due to those two issues. I'll spare you the details on why. With the bank I've been trying for months now and they always have some paper work issue and won't elaborate on why they won't let me open an account. My old credit union called one day and said they had to close mine. Made me come and withdrawal all the money and everything. I've more or less been unpersoned.

While I'm here: would MAPS happen to be hiring? I think I asked that before too. I'm looking for a job. Been looking for awhile. If I could get a salary helping to spread awareness or helping support research I'd be overjoyed. I don't need much to live on. I just want to make enough to afford groceries and my very small monthly bills which don't amount to much. I'm not greedy.

PS: If I wanted an account name that's already taken by someone that hasn't logged in for decades would you be willing to give it to me?

PSS: If I requested my account be Jabber'd would you get upset if I made a new account with a name I like? I'm not attached to my join date stats or post count. I used to have a secondary account here anyway because I forgot the password for this one. But now I've forgotten the password to that other account so I can't log-in to it ever again. I used a randomly generated strong password for it that I'll never guess lol.
