I have been experimenting with several different dream herbs. The two I have focused on are African Dream Root and Calea Zacetechichi. Here are the results and circumstances of my experiments.
General information: Age 18: Female.
No prescribed drugs and no diseases or allergies.
Dream recall is very good alone and I have been practicing Lucid Dreaming techniques since the age of 14. I can remember dreams from years and years ago and I have kept a dream journal for 3 years.
Trial 1: Calea Z alone1 week prior to the initiation of the herb, my dream recall was average for me. I could remember my dreams for the most part upon waking and if I couldn't then, I would be able to remember them clearly after a trigger.Day 1 of initiation- No memorable dreams. Restless sleep and inability to stay asleep were persistent through the night. (2 grams smoked) Dream recall slightly decreased. No lucidity. No change in vividnessDay 2- Again no memorable dreams. I was able to sleep better this night, however. (2 grams orally) Dream recall slightly decreased. No lucidity. No change in vividnessDay 3- Dream recall worse than without the herb. (2 grams orally) No change in vividness. No lucidity.
Trial 2: African Dream Root (Silene Capensis) Alone1 week prior to the initiation of the herb, my dream recall was average for me. I could remember my dreams for the most part upon waking and if I couldn't then, I would be able to remember them clearly after a trigger. Day 1- Increase in number of dreams. Dreams were very strange- 9 year old brother stole the van and I had to go on a high speed chase in order to get him to stop. No lucidity and there was no noticeable change in the vividness of the dreams. Dream recall is average (can only remember 1 dream but I know I had 3-5.) 1 crushed up root in tea before bed.Day 2- Increase in number of dreams. I had a terrifying nightmare about a poltergeist invading my house. Slight increase in vividness. No lucidity.
Dream recall is average (can only remember 1 dream but I know I had 3-5.) 1.5 crushed up roots taken orally in the morning.Day 3- Significant increase in number of dreams. Terrifying nightmare of my ex best-friend sleeping with my shitty ex and he got her pregnant. Another Nightmare about my teeth falling out but not like individual teeth, more like a row of teeth still attached to gums and bone. Went to a specialist (in the dream) and they told me I was pregnant because my teeth were coming out. Significant increase in vividness. Slight lucidity. Dream recall is average (can only remember 1 dream but I know I had 3-5.) 1.5 roots chewed orally before bed.NOTE- During this period I was having large amounts of stress due to a pregnancy scare (which has been resolved) and it was also right before my next period was due. Nightmares MAY have been caused by the decrease in hormones and increase of stress.
Trial 3: African Dream Root and CannabisDay 1- Decrease in dream recall. No lucidity. No vividness. 1.5 roots chewed orally and a quarter of a bowl (high quality) smoked before bed. Note that this trial day was the fourth day of continued use of African Dream Root alone (see trial above).(more research needed)
Trial 4: African Dream Root and Calea Z Day 1- 2 grams of Calea Z taken orally and 1.5 roots taken orally before bed. Note that this trial day started on the 5th day of continued use and the night before the first day was a combination of ADR and cannabis. (will report results in the morning)
