Personally I hated it for use on a mobile - until I discovered that there is a desktop version, which is actually quite brilliant. Ok, it panders to the millenials somewhat, which to an old fart like me is anathema, but posting images is a fuckin breeze - none of that imgur shite required. There are still teething problems upon which the admins are working hard to resolve, but overall it is a definite improvement.

So what do you guys think?

Any issues you find need to be reported to staff cos those cunts are clever bastards (myself not included) who should be able to sort it aaaarht ..
 
It works, seems easy to use and as I apparently, erm, over - explained in the Gibs thread that's good enough for me.

Didn't know about the pics tho that seems cool might try that x

While I get your drift in general, there are a lot of members who volunteer for Bluelight that have spent months working to get this new site up and running so in this specific instance the 'stupid fucking software' is something to give a fuck about, both in terms of its efficacy and with respect to the tons of hard work that has gone into it all.
 
Oh fed lighten up dear I'll have you know that software is just a boring necessary tool that has to exist to have any kind of traffic and also the hard work is more so in building and maintaining said traffic.

Whilst I appreciate the actual software design blah blah does take effort etc and I would guess is not free the question was what are thoughts on it.

This version is a lot less garish than the old purple one but having an easier way to click on the end post would be great but can find it without.

Changes can be hard on some but that's life innit.

I think it depends upon your browser. I'm using Chrome and you just click on the 3 dots top right of the screen and select 'desktop site' from the menu. Unfortunately you have to do this everytime you logon, but it's worth it.
 
I don't know, the profile presentation is the one issue I have with the change but while it does need addressing I will be more than satisfied if it is the only area of note that is problematic.

@blondin - you had a look at the tech support forum? Start a thread over there if no one else has brought it up yet.
 
The images are pixellated in many cases That's why I changed mine - plus it didn't pulsate any longer as animated GIFs don't appear to be supported. An image of at least 400 x 400 pixels is recommended I believe.
 
I'm not sure yet, it works fine and it's... big. It will be a matter of time but I'll get used to it, I'm sure :)
 
Personally this is quite a shock to the system. Obviously I knew it was coming... but, on t'other hand... I have been having (and will likely be continuing to have) ridiculous amounts of hardware issues of late. Does a PC with nowt but maybe a cable or two relating to the previous iterations of said PC still count as the same PC? I honestly don't know. I tried to ask Theseus but he muttered summat about his ship being in dry-dock which got me no further in my ponderation....

I do find this new version of the site ugly. Also confusing. But I am old so that is a given. We'll see is my cautious and ambivalent opinion so far. I do think there are some cool new features... just wish I knew how to work 'em properly without having to read the actual manual. Maybe some of y'all more savvy than I could step in with some ProTips for us lowly auldies...?:)<3

Gotta say this is currently one of my biggest issues. Is a Shambles merely a shambles when its avatar looks like hardboiled shite? Or is it more a personality issue? I suspect I'm gonna have to work on both now :|

You can type emoji directly from an Android device, I think.

❤? Yeah, seems to work. Proof's in the reading back, of course; one wrong default charset on a table in MariaDB and it all comes crashing down.
