Retired Never Was, Coulda been wannabe
Let's see if this flies. A lot of us love songs, either for the artists intent, or the sound of it, or simply for how it applied to us personally in some part of our lives. I'm proposing a word game where all posts are lyrics only. Genre doesn't matter, and may in fact add to the flow of the thread. Posts can add on, continiuing a previous post, or be in answer to something, just like a regular thread. Try to keep the thought going, or if it is at an end, take it in a new direction, but don't trainwreck it please.
I envision something like this:
and so on. My including artists is a suggestion, because what you might think everyone knows, might not be everyone knows. But it kinda messes up the flow..so maybe just leave the artist/track out (people can google). Two rules, though, would be:
1. Do not post the whole damn song. Just the line or lines you feel are relevant.
2. Do not just post a word or two that could be in ANY song, give enough lines (maybe even a chorus or stanza entirely) to convey your input and make it traceable to who you are quoting
I'll kick it off with the classic
So, so you think you can tell...
I envision something like this:
So, so you think you can tell
For whom the bell tolls
Time marches on
After my picture fades and darkness has
Turned to gray
Watching through windows
You're wondering if I'm okay
I know your anger, I know your dreams
I've been everything you want to be
