2017 Trump Presidency Thread

I personally can't wait for 2020. Sjw tears is such sweet schadenfrueden(spelling??) I love the fact that the alt left is allowed to have a voice and their ideas are freely shared. Wish the other side felt the same way. Free speech is a great thing, the bad ideas are rejected and the good ideas rise to the top.

Free speech is as unfashionable as voting, pride in your nation, and a vague understanding of your history. The new norm is to squash free speech, dress up in sheets and light fires and terrify folks. Wait...this sounds familiar.

Yep Antifa has replaced the klan imo. Instead of being against the diversity of skin color they are against the diversity of thought calling everything they disagree with racist. It's all pretty sad if I'm being honest.

Right. Those of us who keep up on twink news knew about Kevin Spacey and Brian Singer years ago.

In fact, I was gonna post here about the Digital Entertainment Network, Mark Collins-Rector, Chad's World, and the M&C Mansion, back in 1998, but Barbara Walters personally silenced me, along with a time-travelling Sasha Obama-led KKK goon name Shep Smith.

And that is why we're still paying off black people after reparations in 2009.

Or wait, are we talking about squash? Pumpkin Pie! It's more on topic than any of the last five posts because at least trump shares the same artificial color (preservatives too?).

Seriously though, all the pizzagate anti-pedophile shit, but Roy Moore gets banned from the mall for harassing the teen girls he didn't take home and rape, and it's a smear campaign by "the left" who are really the KKK/antifa.

Hopefully neither of you two are allowed near minors or shop objects.

Right, but cognitive dissonance, willful ignorance and general small-minded prejudice are at an all time high.
I wish they'd put a sheet over trump (in more ways than one) :D

Good News Everyone!

While people deflect with pedophiles, another Trump associate is going down: Michael Flynn's lawyers have cut ties with Trump's lawyers, meaning they are talking to Mueller. Y'know, about Trump and Russia, among other things, so Flynn doesn't have to spend the rest of his life in prison (just some of it). You know, for Conspiracy Against the United States! We long ago surpassed the Nixon admin for sheer criminality.

Ok, back to mouth-breathing over Berkeley college kids and basketball players . . .

These guys are so completely fucked. It really couldn't have happened to a nicer bunch of klansmen and mafioso.

Oh, and also, 9th circuit court also just told Trump to fuck off with his "sanctuary city" executive order.

For the trolls, that means we get to keep our taco trucks!

Here is where you will want to be specific sir. None of the US based news, nor BBC, or their websites, are citing the Trump Administration for breaking the law. Why hide this information from CEP?

Can you imagine if I made the same charges against the last administration and clinton mafia with citations you would make fun of me all night.

You do know that trump and his cronies are being investigated for a range of extremely serious criminal activities.
This denial of reality is interesting from a sociological perspective, but i wonder what you'll say when it all comes crashing down.

Either way, trump is allegedly tied up in a lot of major criminal activities (from corruption and money-laundering to sexual abuse), which is why so many of the people who helped him get elected have been charged.
the continual "whataboutism" references back to clinton just go to show how desperate trumpers are here. You don't have much to work with, when it comes to praising your boy.

The "post truth" era is just a con by people who seem to think they can lie and engage in distinctly racist, anti-democratic political manoeuvres and get away with it.
They won't - they've made so many enemies that the only way trump will escape justice is if he dies or seeks asylum in russia.

Happy thanksgiving, american democracy lovers <3

Um, then you aren't reading any US based news, or the BBC, or their websites.

You have heard of the indictments for "Conspiracy Against the United States," yes? Three people so far. Now, our former National Security Advisor is cooperating with the FBI. All you have to do, is type his name into Google, and this story comes right to the top.

Do you understand the implications, that our former NSA director is cooperating with an FBI investigation for committing treason? Do you understand that he was part of the Trump Administration? So what I said was totally factual.

I am NOT going to bother copy pasta from google for you, especially when the level of discourse here is "LOL Democrats are teh KKK, you know, liek when the elected a Black dude Lol pedophiles"

ETA: sorry, that name is "Michael Flynn". You can highlight and right-click in most browsers to search.

His son was a major doofus who was a big pizzagate proponent.

Michael Flynn, our former director of National Security, has a separate investigation into him selling us out to Turkey for $$. That's a whole separate criminal investigation.

Nothing in our history compares to this.

I know who Michael Flynn is. What do those charges have to do with the trump admin? You think that shits as big as uranium one (for those of you...its important for weapons and medicine....you dont sell it) and the Clinton foundation aka clinton mafia ? :)

Indeed. No amount of playing dumb is ever going to conceal the fact that trump is a crook who is in deep, deep shit of his own making.

Again, can you be specific, the last person tried and came up with nothing.

Edit: I want to acknowledge the fallacy in arguing about US law I bearly understand with a benevolent socialist from beautiful Australia who makes no claim that I am aware of to know US law; but the decorum prohibits me as moderator from drawing any conclusions. I think that was very diplomatic too.

Edit: see i'll get it right soon

I realized the other day that this is what it feels like to live under a corrupt government.

You always think, how do people put up with a Mugabe or Qaddafi? Well, it's like this. Slow desensitization.

Can you imagine what it would be like, in say, 1986, to find out that your NSA director was working with, and paid by, the fucking Russians? He'd have been hung or shot. Reagan would've resigned at the mere suspicion he knew anything about it. The whole damn NSA would be temporarily dissolved, cause who's a spy? Can't trust anyone.

Instead, now, with this joke in office, finding this out doesn't even cut through Black Friday ads. National Security, bought by the goddamned Russians, and posters are like "Obama was teh stupid kids in China. Lol"

Go back to complaining about football players who sit down during songs.

OK, just one, in case you really are learning impaired, in which case I apologize for my tone: Michael Flynn was a member of the Trump Administration.

Do you follow?

I have repeatedly said he will not go to jail, just everyone around him. He will be forced to resign, and then pardoned by Pence.

Maybe the confusion is in the word "Administration"? An administration is comprised of many people, not just the "boss". So when I say the "Trump Administration is the most criminal and corrupt in history" I mean, lots of people in it are criminals and/or corrupt.

The "boss" of the group may or may not have committed a crime, but as the boss, he is responsible for all the criminals he hires.

This is like the capos who report to Tony Soprano all getting popped, and when everybody knows Tony is going down, you say, "Lol, nothing says Tony is a crook. Where does it say the Soprano family are crooks?"

This has nothing to do with my nationality, and the suggestion that i have any less ability to comment on matters of global importance because of where i was born is rather offensive.
Trump campaigned on a platform of implicit racism, but if you can't rise above that, i'm not sure what the purpose of engaging with political discussion on a global forum is.

This isn't about political tribalism, it's about trump's unfitness to govern. He's a sick man with a long history of criminal associations.

I hope trump will go to jail because he has totally debased a whole range of western democratic institutions, such as freedom of the press.

I have my doubts too, but i'm trying to remain confident that he will face justice.
Either way, i think his awful children are in serious trouble, and that's better than nothing.

And so far, at least one branch of government is still somewhat functional.

HOW JEFF SESSIONS PLANS TO END MEDICAL MARIJUANA BEFORE THE YEAR IS OVER

BY MELINA DELKIC
November 24, 2017

Congress has until [December 8] to decide whether to include the Rohrabacher-Farr Act (also known as Rohrabacher-Blumenauer) in a bill that will fund the government through the next fiscal year. Right now, that law, made up of just 85 words, blocks the Department of Justice from using any money to prosecute medical marijuana in states where it's legal.

In May, Attorney General Jeff Sessions pushed back against the bill when he sent a strongly worded letter to Democratic and Republican leaders in Congress, asking them to oppose protections for legal weed and allow him to prosecute medical marijuana.

"I believe it would be unwise for Congress to restrict the discretion of the Department to fund particular prosecutions, particularly in the midst of an historic drug epidemic and potentially long-term uptick in violent crime," Sessions wrote in his letter.

The bill's 2014 passage, with 170 Democrats and 49 Republicans in favor, was the first time Congress passed legislation that protected medical marijuana users and businesses. It meant that an attorney general could no longer send Drug Enforcement Administration agents (or use other government resources) to bust medical marijuana in states where it was legal.

It was in line with the Obama administration's 2013 "Cole Memo," in which Deputy Attorney General James Cole said the Justice Department would refrain from prosecuting medical marijuana businesses and users in states where it was legal, and that it would prioritize more serious marijuana offenses, like drug cartels and sales to minors. The policy marked a change for the Obama administration, where medical marijuana busts were once rampant.

With his letter, Sessions pushed Congress to end these protections. In a statement on Friday, Sessions announced that the Justice Department would halt the practice of guidance memos, and review Obama administration guidance memos on legal pot to see if they went too far.

Sessions is known for being one of the nation's toughest critics of legal pot. He once said the KKK was "OK until I found out they smoked pot."

More recently, he said at a speech in March in Richmond, "I am astonished to hear people suggest that we can solve our heroin crisis by legalizing marijuana—so people can trade one life-wrecking dependency for another that's only slightly less awful."

In the early decades of his career, denouncing marijuana was an unprovocative viewpoint. In the days of DARE and abstinence-only drug education, marijuana was the bogeyman at the gateway to much more dangerous drugs. But despite new research praising medical pot and the skyrocketing approval ratings for the drug, Sessions has only budged ever so slightly in that view.

He nodded last week and said, "I think that's correct" when Representative Steve Cohen, a Tennessee Democrat, said cannabis was not as dangerous as heroin. Sessions said he'd consider thorough analyses of medical marijuana, but that he was not optimistic.

While spending federal money and law enforcement reasources to bust people and businesses in compliance with state law regarding cannibus seems insane and impossible, I'm not sure anymore.
