Hello, i tore my acl in november 2015 and had a reconstruction along with meniscus repair and mcl repair. It sucked, I got through it however and was fine. Unfortunately the graf failed, so yesterday, i had the revised surgery done. The nerve block this time wore off MUCH quicker than the time before. I am prescribed percocet 10s and take 2 every 6 hours. This only minor dulls the pain for about 2.5 or 3 hours. I know I am one day post op but damn, my knee feels like it was shot point blank! I have no clue what to do and how not to look like a drug abuser and ask for my dose to be highered. The pain this time is much worse than last. I barely got any sleep last night, probably wont again tonight.

How do you think my orthopedic surgeon will help me? How do I ask? I have an appointment tomorrow at 1030am. I hate it but the percocets just arent lasting long enough and are keeping me in complete agonizing pain. Someone help me on how to talk to my doc about this, and what he might do. Possibley a benzo? Hydromorphone? Roxy? I dont really use recreational substances like this at all just smoke, but I need greater pain releif ASAP my quality of life is awful. Im only 19 years old and I never thought id have this much pain in my knee. HELP SOMEONE!

If you’re honest with him about the pain, I’m sure he will help you. Don’t demand strong opiates; that will raise red flags. Just be honest.

I know not to demand them, but how should I go about it. I know opioids are the only thing that will work. Im in agonizing pain and my trazadone and serequil are ineffective at helping sedate me

Ive been taking naproxen along with it, and a little bit of tylonal (terrible spelling) along with it to try and boost. Nothing happens :(

Unfortunately, giving advice on what to say to a doctor to get certain meds is against the forum rules. But again, being honest about your pain levels, and after having major surgery like that, your doctor would hopefully respond with some more robust treatment methods.

We can't advise you on what to say to your doctor but like Sharlito said, telling him honestly about your pain is the best way to go.
