Berlin eu heroin thread, why can't you snort ?? Only smoke?

I'm from nyc and i've been doing h for about 6 years, with many long breaks in between, i really curious why the heroin i get in berlin can't be snorted, i mean you can but it burns something awful !! Its a light brown powder, but nothing like the brown we get in in new york. When i light it up on tin foil it turns into a black tar gooey situation before turning into smoke & ash

does anyone have any info ??
 
It's because it's heroin base (i believe - chemistry is not my strong point) and not water soluble, and is more suited to smoking.
It needs acid to be added for it to dissolve, which is why it won't absorb into your sinus like hydrochloride salt.
Unlike heroin that is snortable, it is much better suited for smoking - so it has pros and cons depending on your preferences for things like that.
 
i don't really know the whole pharmodynamics thing, but the brown heroin we get in europe is No. 3 Heroin, which isn't quite as refined as the snortable white stuff you get in the states; which, logistically, must be No. 4 heroin... yeaah? and yeah, as mentioned above, you need to add citric acid to make it injectable, but i really like smoking the stuff anyway.

This was debated in the main smack thread as some users enjoyed snorting UK gear. I proceeded to try it myself and I didn't really get pleasure from it.
 
i seem to recall reading that the old 'numbers' system for heroin is very antiquated, and that heroin #3 is just a different end product from different extraction/synthesis processes.
have no idea where i read that though.
it seems to really depend what the source country of your gear is, as to what form it takes (tar, brown base, white powder).

the heroin in australia is highly refined south east-asian stuff, which can be snorted, but apparently is very wasteful to smoke. it seems good thing from a HR perspective for people to have the option of smoking H in a reasonably efficient manner, but wonder if this encourages people to use it who otherwise may be put off by the stigma of it.
some forms of heroin sound absolutely revolting, and the idea of injecting black tar grosses me out. it's all pretty dirty, and of unknown origin/cleanliness - so smoking seems like a good option if you can get it to work for you.

when of think of UK brown H i'm always reminded of that case in western europe a few years ago, a few people got anthrax from afghan heroin, from inadvertent environmental contamination 8o
 
Number One is crude opium, Number Two is refined opium, Number Three is diamorphine freebase and Number Four is diamorphine hydrochloride. The freebase is not soluble in water, so does not easily enter via the mucous membranes. It is better for vaporising and inhaling (a.k.a. "chasing the beetle/dragon"). For injecting or sniffing, you need a soluble salt of the base with a suitable acid. The hydrochloride, citrate and ethanoate salts are all soluble. (but, please, don't ever get desperate enough actually to consider trying diamorphine ethanoate .....)

The stuff usually sold as "brown" in the U.K. is #3. Number 4 is known as "china white" and is much more expensive, and less common. Most I.V. users cook up individual shots with just enough citric acid until no more of the powder is (reacting and) dissolving (by which point, all but the last drop of acid added and seen to have no effect has been used up in the reaction with the base, so the pH will be just slightly less than 7), and filter out the undissolved impurities.

U.K. gear enters via Europe, so German gear probably will be similar. Maybe more #4 about, since it will have passed through fewer pairs of hands .....

soooo, and forgive my utter ignorance of even the basics of chemistry, if one were to mix some citric acid into a normal bag of UK, #3 brown, would you be able to snort it? or would it need to be boiled together and then dried before insuffixation was possible/
 
Thats a myth. You can snort the gear we get here in the UK, way back when I just started thats how I done it. Believe me I was out my fucking nut, and if you dont believe, ask my missus/mum & dad they will tell you I was out my fucking nut. I OD'd once just by snorting. I have snorted gear and it has been better than smoking, even up till this day sometimes I have had to snort because I haven't been able to smoke it. Also, some of the cut in the uk can make it a bit dodgy to snort, but to say you dont get high is bollocks.
 
U can snort base heroin but it burns and isn't absorbed as well as heroin salt. Either mix with acid in water and slowly evap to a powder or goo to snort or just smoke it. Smoking is an art which is why you probably aren't getting the best results for your money.

i do alright, butdo you have any special tricks or tips?
i've seen some people use the top of a litre bottle of coke as a tooter so its got huge area coverage so no smoke escapes but i haven't tried that one yet

Is it not the cuts though that you feel when snorting no. 3? Like I said I have tried this and while it no doubt has an effect, it's far from pleasant.
