New country based on Research Chemicals

How many people are interested in starting a country whose main economy relies heavily on research chemicals? The constitution will grant every citizen over 18 the rights to

  • get high at all time
  • buy any mind altering substance at all time
  • manufacture and sell any mind altering substances to any other male citizen of the country at all time.
We will be located somewhere in the Caribbean

Considering people in real life on drugs arent the crowd i want to be associated with and this island sounds boring ill the the US with its actual opportunities. Sounds like a sausage fest full of guys dick sizing spouting off about how many drugs they can take... really sounds like hell to me.

Also research chemicals do not appeal to me, my vote is bomb the island so we can keep real drugs in the US.

Absolutely lame. What sort of horrible country would this be, a bunch of dudes walking around talking inane gibberish constantly, selling a very limited range of products to a tiny userbase (themselves?) and forbidding the delicate lady parts from getting too rowdy.

How do people come up with this shit? :D

How about compulsory sterilisation for everyone and only let those who are STD free in and also have free non research chems available . Meth heroin acid and mdma and cannabis and nangs and ketamine as basic supplies.

Research chems for those keen on that taxed

And tax goes to the overdose hospitals.

There will be females. There will be a lot of other industries, it is just that the main economy will be research chemicals; the same way silicon valley is based on the computer industry and idaho 's economy is based on potato. The brightest people in the world use some sort of drugs, we hope to attract those people so they can contribute their brains and advance our economy. Not only we will be the center of chemical development but we will also be the center for neuroscience and all kind of biotechs. We will be the first country that grants in its constitution , the right to get high and to achieve any mental state anybody wants.

all drugs will be legal, no exception. Safety is going to be a huge priority. The fact that everything is going to be legal, and the fact there will be a lot of information on drug safety should help combat overdose. There will be so many different substances, that it is going to be very hard for someone to be addicted to one substance.
We will also vet the tourists that visit the island so they don't bring diseases.

In America, people have the right to free speech but this doesn't lead to people competing to see how much they can talk. Most people do drugs for self-medication or for self-exploration. Girls are welcome. It is your brain that we are talking about. You are going to be granted the right to explore the universe of your psyche in peace with people who think like you. The island will be full of opportunities. Drugs something stimulate creativity; who knows how many noble prizes in science and literature that are going to come from the island. We want to make the island perfect for people like you, that is why we welcome your criticism. Any further suggestions?
 
Honestly the emphasis on males only getting rights put me off right at the beginning, even though I see you've edited it out now. Worried pregnant females will mess it up? Deal with that on a case-by-case basis. It came off as pretty anti-woman since you felt it necessary to mention it twice in a short OP and didn't explain it like you did when people reacted to it... it makes me think you're trolling. Anyway, interesting thought experiment. I think that we should be free to do any drug we choose as a basic human right, but to gather together only all of the people who want drugs to be legal is probably asking for trouble. You're gonna get the good and the bad, and no one is going to want to be the police, but you're going to have crime and shit you need to police. Additionally most foreign governments would place serious sanctions on you if not outright invade, because freedom of drug use contradicts the global drug war which most of them support to some extent for financial reasons or because they themselves are afraid of sanctions by those who are benefiting financially.

That was my first idea as well. But if I've got unlimited access to every benzo and opiate I desire at any time, I might not really care. :p

I'd probably just buy a house (or appartment) there and live like a hermit so I wouldn't have to deal with all the other druggies, and so high all the time that I even have enough patience to deal with all kinds of druggiez whenever I need to go to the store to buy my next heap of opiates. :D

Nah, Srsly though, I wouldn't wanna live there. Also sounds like it would be a disaster socially. It'd probably be poorly maintained and going to Shit within 1 week as well (unless maybe the meth users do all the handiwork & the cleaning for everyone etc etc =D hehe)

I would however definitely like to go on vacation there sometime, but I'd bring friends (either online friends or friends that I already know irl, in ant case people I know are cool, whether they are on drugs or not doesn't matter)

It sounds nice at first but once you start picturing it, it's not very pretty.
 
The idea is that the economy is supported by research chemicals, not that everyone would have to be stoned or high on them all the time. Seems like an uber-socially liberal place with a big focus on the industry of biochemistry (namely RCs). It would attract people who just wanna get high all the time, but for the purpose of imagining the idea working, it would have to attract some scientists who are developing new chemicals too.

Pans out like a city-state basically made up of some laboratories and resorts for tourists. It doesn't sound wholly dystopian to me.
