Hi ,
im a first time user of the site. Not sure where or how i should post this. I am a chronic pain patient and need some advice .i have had a severe neuropathic pain problem for 5 yrs and have tried lots of things . I have trialed suboxone for 10 days for my pain problem . It isn't helping . I was on methadone before but it was making me sick . Hydromorph has helped before .My Dr says I can switch to try short and long acting hydromorph but says I have to wean of the suboxone for a week before starting it. I do not understand why I can't just stop suboxone and substitute short acting hyrdromorph prn . Wait a week to make sure suboxone is gone and then titrate in a long acting hydromorph. The question is about the switch from suboxone to hydromorph...a topic I couldn't find a thread on.

Your brain will just perceive the h.morph as better pain relief
after the bupe' is out of your system
10 days isnt much, but its builds up - I agree w/ the Dr on this one

long time no post from me, BostonBrownTown!

I am down to 2MG bupe; been on that dose for a bit and in no rush to get off. the Dr. has me scripted 12MG but, of course, I dont need that. I started at 16MG a couple years back and have been on a relatively low dose for about 6 months and always feeling great; I take it ONCE A DAY, first thing in the morning, and THATS IT! many tell me I'd be "better" if I were to split but throughout the years I've never had a problem and I am TRYING to get my GF to come along w/ me for that ride; she takes 4MG's a day and splits it into 2 doses (AM/PM). I'd like her to drop her 2nd dose (2MG) and come down to one 2MG dose daily (AM).

I always felt it was easy at this point to drop such a small dose but she is telling me she's having a very hard time w/ it. ANYONE ELSE FEEL THE SAME WAY WHEN IT COMES TO DROPPING SUCH A SMALL DOSE!? OR IS THIS A LARGE DOSE BUT JUST SMALL TO ME? we are talking 2MG of bupe but she's telling me she has a hard time and just doesnt "feel the same". to a degree, I feel its all in the head. I've been there, I've done that, the typical addict mind. but i am just looking for a 2nd opinion here. I'd like to see us both get off eventually but I am in no rush; neither is she. but I would like to see her get down to 2MG, if possible, and slowly make our way OFF the drug (better than dope, tho).

so, who else has had problems dropping 2MG at an already short dosage? going 6 to 4 or 4 to 2.. or whatever? did anyone REALLY FEEL A DIFFERENCE? because I've never had problems dropping my dosage regardless the MG. I went from 16 to 8MG overnight just because the dick didnt work at a high dosage. then once I got on 8MG I was quick to make it down to 6, to 4 and then BOOM.. 2MG! I stick w/ 2MG or my own safety because I do not want to go back to using. I want to make sure she is the same way and we are always here for each other and to support one another but I'd like to see her continue to drop and get to the same dose. she's been on bupe for many years herself and sometimes can get by w/ just 2MG/day but then there are the times where she feels she "needs" it.

so, I guess the question is.. is it really THAT HARD TO DROP 2MG? from 4MG to 2MG? do you really think you feel that difference? it would be easier for the both of us if she could make that move but she doesnt seem wants to or can (as she says, lol). but I just dont see ho someone cannot make a 2MG drop, esp. at the dosage she is currently on.

anyone else have these problems w/ their GF/wife/whoever? I'd like to see us BOTH get off bupe but I am in no rush to risk our relationship, our soberness, or anything or that matter, but would like to see her on the same dose as myself since she is a smaller chick, had less of a habit, and can easily get by w/o.

Greetings. Former IV h user although it's been awhile. This is because I'm tapering off Xanax and not even h helps the withdrawals. But low dose suboxone insuflated actually helps. How many days can someone get by on .5 to 1.5 in a row before they will withdraw?

if i dont use dope often will suboxone send me into withdrawls?

so i feel pretty certain ill be okay but just wanted to check, if ive been on subs for a couple weeks on and off without using any true agonists, and i decided to use dope one day, for one day only, how long woukd i have to wait to take my sub again? say 4 mg of sub. can it be just a few hours?

^ It depends which full agonist you're using.. Heroin or oxy the wait is generally 16-24hrs, methadone is about 36-48hrs. When you do re-induct sub, use 1-2mg to avoid precipitated withdrawal.

Rationale: Chronic administration of morphine induces adaptations in neurotransmission system such as the dopamine pathway, and these modifications could be influenced by the drug administration pattern. Methadone and buprenorphine are the two main opioid substitution therapies, and despite their protracted use in humans, no study has investigated their ability to regulate dopamine system after chronic exposure/withdrawal. Objectives: We evaluated the consequences of two administration patterns of methadone and buprenorphine on striatal dopamine D1 (D1R) and D2 (D2R) receptor levels. Methods: Mice were treated with escalating doses of methadone or buprenorphine for 5 days either once daily (binge) or three times a day (TTD). D1R and D2R density in striatum was measured by autoradiography using [H]-SCH23390 and [H]-raclopride, respectively, at 1 (WD1), 14 (WD14), and 35 (WD35) days after the last opioid injection. Results: A downregulation of D1R was observed upon TTD administration of buprenorphine and binge methadone treatment while an increase of those receptor levels was detected both with binge buprenorphine and TTD methadone treatments. Concerning the D2R, we rather measured an early or late downregulation with both agonists and administration patterns. Conclusions: Our results demonstrated that methadone and buprenorphine were able to differentially regulate dopamine receptor density depending on the withdrawal period and the administration pattern. Don't do it you won't feel anything and as for.lope I'd say no but I'm really.not sure, because of its not crossing the BB it might working

OMG don't do it seriously I have been eating perc 5 by the handful and it's not enough to hold me more than 2 hours after suboxone you tolerance goes up I'm 5 days postop of a MAJOR stomach surgery and because I wasn't honest they sent me home with percocet 5mg! Actually I WAS honest and the.doctors here have no clue about suboxone. Ijs once you take those you have "swapped" back to full antagonist and if all you have is 2 perc 5 you will be very upset just wait untill u can get some real meds

^You can't even eat enough 5 mg percs w/o risking liver failure to make transitioning back to Subs that difficult. Going onto Sub from 90-150 mg of oxy a day was a breeze IME. From 1g of dope was tough but usually just around 24 hours of feeling 75% of withdrawal and 3-4 more days of dragging ass but you'd be able to function.

As for a 1 day binge. All depends how heavy you go and how good the stuff is. Also how long you wait to take use the dope and how much Sub you're using.

LISTEN HERE, Honestly the least of your concerns in chipping while on Subs should be if there will be some uncomfortable effects for a day or 2 after you use the dope. The REAL concern is will you find it wasn't hard at all, then you do it gain next week, and the week after, thinking it's a breeze to bounce back and forth. Then you start pushing it too far and it does get kinda tough, and you decide to keep using and you have a full on relapse back to hard opioids. Believe me, I've only had it happen to me about 10 times. Almost EVERYTIME it's the song and dance...just like I described above.

To be honest reading that question is confusing anyway. What do you mean you are taking Suboxone "on and off"? Are you taking it recreationally, but not everyday or are you using it for maintenance because you had an addiction to a full agonist? The post almost reads like you were never really that badly hooked on anything, just using diff opioids every few days, in which case you could go back and forth at your leisure. Bare in mind, that type of opiate use is usually the signs of a full on addiction in your future.

New here need some advice. IM making the switch tomorrow from h to the subs. Used around noon today so im aiming for 4pm the following day. The only problem with the cows scale is some symptoms do not present in me even when in peak physical wd. I waited about 14 hours 2weeks ago and threw myself into precipitated withdrawal. Shit suuuucked, I ended up caving and using just to get rid of the stomach cramps which were the worst part. The shit I've been using has been of low quality and for the past week only been .1 one time per day. Hopefully in good around 4 tomorrow. I've read about building up the dose very slowly over a period of hours as to not take too much at once and risk that all over again. So im gonna start with .25 under the sublingual and see what happens from there. Is ANYONE has any advice it'd be appreciated. Im 6ft about 160 always been skinny with faster than normal metabolism.

Suboxone issue

First let me apologize if I posted this in the wrong spot I'm looking for information and have never used this site before. Okay so my friend swim injects his suboxone rather than take it sublingualy. One time right after his injection that was missed a little a small red rash kinda like a bunch of tiny red dots started appearing near injection site it's been a few days and I don't want anything bad to happen to him my question is what could this be maybe a reaction to the miss? It's not hot or painful he says and it's not really itchy either just looks like a rash. Also if he has to go to the hospital will they tell his doctor about his visit being that it was due to injection because I don't think he will go if he will loose his suboxone he does need it but I'm trying to help get him to use it the right way. But if you could help me with some of these questions I would appreciate it thanks guys!

I had PW this morning...intensely...I have been shooting H all day to combat the effects. The question is...now that the sub is in my system and the PW is gone...can I safely take more even though I shot H to kill the PW?

Does anyone have an answer for this? Im going through the exact thing right now...

Hey so im not getting withdrawals so i can not use the cows scale to avoid precipitated withdrawal i only slipped a few days and want to get back on my subutex so how long do i need to wait to take it since the cows scale is irrelevant to me. How long aftermy last shot do i get back on my subutex if i dont take that as soon as possible im just going to end up getting more heroin so how long should i wait

Happened to me..the H will only over power the suboxone if the Sub wasnt a high dose...you cant take 24MG or 16MG ..not even 8MG ..

Suboxone use

Hello In looking for information about how long a person should wait after using an opiate before taking Suboxone. I'm not sure if there is a set time frame, I just don't want to be thrown into withdrawal if I don't wait long enough.
Ty in advance.

It's different for everybody. Don't go by time but by your withdrawal level. You should score at least a 26 on the COWS worksheet. You should be experiencing at least moderate symptoms.

Personally, when I detoxed from oxycodone, I could take suboxone 24 hours after my last dose and avoid precipitated WD. I would start with ~2mg, then after an hour or so if I wasn't feeling better add 2mg more until I was stable. I did a rapid taper and it worked great for me.

Thanks for that info. I found a site that had a small chart that listed how long you should wait to take suboxone depending on which opiate you had taken last.
Most had a minimum wait time of 8-12 hours. I had gone 14 so I went ahead and took 5.7mg of zubsolv, which is just the same as suboxone and I'm feeling fine. I'm actually nodding little bit and am wondering if that is normal at all?

it depends on what opiate your using and it's half life . generally you should wait 24hrs. however it varies . say you banged a bag of dope at 6pm, and then the next morning you wake up dope sick
now, at thjs point, I would say go ahead and take a sub, you should be dandy

beware of the king antagonist methadone ! doctors say you should stop methadone for 48hours before taking a sub. DON'T DO IT. this is clearly not enough time, by far! I was on methadone maintenance for a short period of time. Taking 100mg daily. I decided to convert over to suboxone as I was sick of living like a zombie and a bum, marching on the bus every morning to get a dose. So the clinic has decreased my dose of 100mg by going down 10mg every three days until i reached 20mg. Which my sub doctor said I needed to do in order for him to convert me. He Instructed me to stay off methadone for 48hrs since I'm down to 20mg. So I seen him 48hrs later. Mind you I was def. Feeling the withdrawl, so my sub doctor instructed me to place 3 films under my tongue, as he said I needed to reach the ceiling effect.
So I'm thinking I will feel better, 30nins later I went Into the most horrible precipitated. Withdrawl of my life, the mental snd emotionalpart if it was tbr worst watching my life pass me by. Be careful dosing. Subs!

###Update###
So really I was inquiring about zubsolv. I didn't know until recently that there was much of a difference between the two. Now that I've done a little research and found out there's more bioavailability with the zubsolv and such things I have more questions related to my dosage.
The day of my op I started my zubsolv. I think I ended up waiting roughly 14 hours after doing oxymorphone. Anyways I was prescribed two 5.7 mg tablets a day. The first couple of days that I took this much I was pretty messed up I was nodding out and I was also taking clonazepam at the same time which I've now learned reacts with the zubsolv in a quite potent way. I'm not sure if I should but I have gone ahead and stopped taking the two tablets per day and I'm taking one or maybe one and a half now along with the clonazepam. I did this without speaking to my doctor my doctor seems to be somewhat of a quack. I just had my second visit with him yesterday and he asked me no questions about how I was doing or anything of the like. I did not mention that the two tablets a day was too much for me because I'll just save the extra to have for emergencies or in case I can't afford my prescription of zubsolv which is actually happening now. I did however tell him that the clonazepam was of great help and he doubled my dose from 1 mg per day to 2 mg per day. Two weeks ago when I first started the zubsolv my doctor gave me coupons that got me the medication for absolutely free and now the second time I go to fill my script it's costing me about $200 which I cannot afford so I'm really thinking about trying to taper with what I have left. I only have four of the 5.7 mg tablets and I'm wondering if there's a way to taper with what I have left. I was thinking 5 days of half a tablet per day and then 6 days of a quarter of a tablet per day. Plus I have a clonazepam to help me with anxiety and possibly feeling bad from withdrawal. Any advice on this taper would be much appreciated because I really don't think I can come up with the money to fill my next prescription. Or any advice on where I might go to obtain my zubsolv at a cheaper price I'm currently going to CVS. Thank you in advance guys I appreciate all the help and comments.
