Yeah I'm definitely going to do it. We're Skype meeting on Sunday to discuss initial design stuff. He lives back in Illinois about 20 minutes from my parents' house but fortunately this sort of thing doesn't require proximity.

Checking in, hope everyone is well. Life has been going really good for me as of late. I won't bore you guys with the details but just wanted BL/PD to know I'm in a really good place right now. The weather has been very nice too, I'm going to try to go hiking at my favorite local state park the next time I have a day off. Hopefully the girl I'm seeing is free, we've been talking about taking the trip but sometimes it's hard for us both to find the free time.

I've been working on getting my house cleaned up today. It wasn't really bad just a lot of clutter since all I did in there was sleep/shower/use the computer for the last three years. I'm going through a lot of my stuff and getting it sorted into storage bins. Got my new (huge) desk moved in, set-up my PC (dropped some new hardware in the tower while I was at it), got my four soon to be five monitor set-up going and jammed out on a lot of music this afternoon. We had thunderstorms roll through around supper time so I spent a couple of hours after supper sitting on the porch enjoying the weather. :)

Rambling like always. I need to get off to sleep so I can finish up cleaning out this place tomorrow. Y'all be good!

The Vietnamese didn't even have a written language until the 15th or 16th century, some Jesuit priest or some other came there and decided he'd make them a written language, and that's what we have today. Hey, I remember something from college! :o

Damn, no written language until the 15th century... Vietnam is close enough to China, and I know they've had it for waaay longer than that, so I'm surprised they weren't introduced to it sooner?

One of my best friends from college, we've remained close since then, came up with a really great idea that he wants me to partner with him for, to utilize my programming skills for it and collaborate ideas and such. I won't say what it is, but I was unsure whether it would gain much traction, and my girlfriend thought there was no way. But my friend, who is basically the networking guy, the one who is selling the idea, has already gotten a lot of interest from some influential players in the relevant industry. People have offered to partner with him for my role, but he wants me to do it. There are people offering to design a mobile app already (something I'll have to learn to do, never delved into there yet but I've been curious). People asking when it will be available (the idea was presented to me like 4 days ago 8(). A little intimidating because it would the biggest project of this type I have been involved in. But certainly within my abilities. Might have to sacrifice some of my leisure time for a while. Not gonna sacrifice music. But this could end up being a big thing and very profitable for both of us if it all works out. Pretty exciting. :) This friend is a great guy to be in business with, he does a bunch of stuff and is generally quite successful, really good, trustworthy guy, also people love him so he finds himself with all kinds of opportunities presented to him all the time.

Well, I'd encourage you to go for it if it seems like work you would enjoy.

Truthfully Xorkoth, you shouldn't have even mentioned it. Now I'm just going to keep bugging you to tell us what it is. I mean, just a hint. C'mon. :D

Hi Headphones. :) I'm definitely sensing good vibes from your corner of the jungle. I recall that your health issues were a bit of a broomstick up the arse a few months ago, so I'm glad you're doing better now!

I mean, look at how their language is like our alphabet with little things on top, while every other Asiatic language has it's own unique-ish swirliness, and it's a dead giveaway that Westerners wrote their language.

They aren't great Apple but I'm trying not to let it get me down. We've managed to figure out why I was having so many issues with sleep. Turns out my brain is messed up, I've been having seizures in my sleep for years and thinking it was parasomnias. I should write up a trip report about the last one I had but I'll save that for a rainy day. Working on getting them under control. I haven't technically been diagnosed because the doctor treating me made a deal with me; we'll keep it off the record and treat it off label as long as I don't have one while I'm awake. If the state finds out they'd take my driver's license and I can't be without a car at the moment so I'm praying they just continue to be nocturnal events.

My Grandparents haven't been well and I've been spending a lot of time over at their place. My Grandfather just came out of the hospital after catching the flu and some breathing trouble associated with it. He was coughing up blood when we took him in due to his liver begin shot from all the meds he has to take every day. He got loaded up on prednisone and sent home with a 5 day supply so he's been in a great mood these last few days. His sugar is all over the place though, we had a scare yesterday and had to call out the EMTs to give him IV sugar. Other than that the new meds seem to be working better and I'm hoping he'll get stable again before the weekend. Grandma just came out of the hospital too for pneumonia. After we knew she didn't have the flu we brought her straight home and she recovered there. I ended up catching the coughing fit from her but despite all that good tussinex laying around I managed on DXM and avoided the trap. Felt pretty good about that.

Been doing a lot of cooking last week or so. Enjoy cooking for the family again. Been wanting to bring my new girl around to meet them but it's going to have to wait until everyone is well again. We're farmers so we'll be strong again in no time. Just gotta keep eating home cooking three times a day and doing what little work we can manage. Aside from Grandpap we're all about 80% right now. Just thankful the weather had been so nice so we could get out of the house and get some fresh air.

It's late, Grandpap will be up soon. Gotta go check in on him and get ready to cook breakfast. Then I'm off for some sleep myself until about 10am my time. Gotta get up and attend to some things around the farm and go put in some applications. Lost my temp. job about a month ago and had some issues with my car, then I got sick and had to take care of the folks. Time to get back to work on the regular these side jobs I'm doing on the internet only pay me so much.

So I've been realizing I need to start taking better care of myself again recently... been noticing a host of worrisome signs, and I've been drugging pretty heavily. Worst problem is stimulants, I like euphoric stimulants and I've been using propylhexedrine twice a week on average for a while now. Also phenibut every other day for quite a long time, I have some amount of physical dependence to it though it doesn't really worry me much, been there before and it's never been hard to taper down. But I am starting to feel like it's having a negative impact on my health, weird body pains and such, even though I adore the effect it has on me mentally/emotionally/energetically. I've also been drinking pretty heavily and smoking cigarettes. I don't do anything every day, except a bit of weed (like once per day on chill with girlfriend days, more on band/hangout days) and caffeine. I drink and smoke cigs on band days (3 days a week) and if I hang out with my friends apart from that. Also not eating nearly as well. I think I might be starting to get the gout, my joints are hurting. Long story short I think I've had a touch of it for years although when I got it checked I was told I don't, but it's been expanding lately and that was 3 years ago almost. It used to just be my left big toe (which seems to have grown in the joint so it's quite a bit wider than my right one), but now it's starting in my left thumb joint, and also my right wrist and left elbow. Just a constant thing where there is pain when pressure is applied in certain ways. Also propylhexedrine has a pretty severe effect on my bladder/urinary system (plus been using bumps of 3-MeO-PCP frequently for a good year and a half now, may also have an effect there as an arylcyclohexamine), wondering if it's affecting my prostate too. The whole area feels off. It's got me worried.

Well I think I'm finally ready to just do something about it all. My girlfriend has pretty severe stomach/digestive issues that flare up and it's bad right now, so she is eating primarily vegan and really low acidity/richness. I love to cook for us, so I've been working out techniques to make tasty food without using my go-to things which are mostly rich and acidic. Been gaining traction there, I made some really nice food the last 2 nights we hung out. I decided this morning that I am going to stick to eggs for breakfast, salad for lunch and various forms of pan-cooked vegetables with flavorings from things like balsamic vinegar and nutritional yeast for dinner. And peanut butter, some meat once in a while but not every day anymore and ideally fish more than anything. Going to start making dinner before leaving for band practice, eating some and bringing the rest so I don't stop at Cookout on the way home and stuff myself with meat and cheese. Also I'm not going to drink or smoke tonight at band practice. And really intending on just stopping using propylhexedrine, that shit is fun but it feels so bad for me, I am pretty sure I've done damage and want to stop doing that. The joint pain has also gotten me to stop working out, well I could be doing cardio but haven't been, but weights seem like a bad idea now. Going to be healthy for a bit and then make a doctor appointment and get everything checked out.

Seems like my adult life has been a recurring pattern of going hard and catching myself and achieving more discipline. Fortunately it's getting easier to catch myself and apply changes as I get older.

Band is going really great... we've been working hard and really focusing and as a result we're all getting a lot better both individually and in playing together. I practice for hours every day at home by myself and we have 3 practices per week, so about 8 solid hours of playing together per week, and a lot more playing by myself. Gonna finally mix down some tracks of our 5 instrumental originals and a few jams tonight, I'll post them tomorrow if anyone is interested. :)

Also working on tearing up the nasty old carpet in my upstairs, which includes a hallway and bedroom (and bathroom but it's tiled, not carpeted). There is beautiful hardwood underneath to match the rest of the floors in the house. Getting pretty far along in it, once I get all the carpet/staples/tack strips up, I am going to remove all the base boards, paint the area behind them, and re-install them so they're touching the wood (they're a few inches up to accomodate the carpet). Oh and apply some polyurethane to a few sections of wood. Might have to replace a few boards too in this one area with water damage. Feels good to work on stuff to improve your home, the upstairs already looks so much nicer. :)

That's awesome man, glad to hear from you and that you're doing well! :)

No can do. ;)

Hey Headphones, do you live on your grandparents' farm with the rest of your family?

My girlfriend has pretty severe stomach/digestive issues that flare up and it's bad right now, so she is eating primarily vegan and really low acidity/richness. I love to cook for us, so I've been working out techniques to make tasty food without using my go-to things which are mostly rich and acidic.

I'm definitely with you on the importance of a leaner diet, but personally I don't feel right unless I'm getting a fair bit of acidity in my meals. Lots of tomatoes, balsamic vinegar, and citrus fruits. I had some nasty acid reflux for a period of my life, and doctors told me to lower the acidity of my diet. Well, believe it or not, it seemed to WORSEN my heartburn, and I later found out online that the folk wisdom was that increasing the acidity of your diet eases the burden on your gut, and allows it to quit producing so much of its own digestive acids.

Well, everything is a balance. There's too much and too little of anything: saturated fats, acids, vegetables... I'm a firm believer in ignoring all of the theoretical claptrap and just doing what makes you feel all bubbly and vivacious. :) And sometimes, by Jove, that's a chocolate donut.

Ah, yes. I know the feeling... What are you thinking you want so far?

Honestly I think I just want to feel that I'm spending each day fulfilling my potential to make a positive impact on the people around me. I work for a company that relies on sleazy sales tactics to generate all its revenue, which is the polar opposite of making a positive impact on society. :|

What would you say is most important to you? Actually I'd like to hear anybody's answer to that question.

I mean, look at how their language is like our alphabet with little things on top, while every other Asiatic language has it's own unique-ish swirliness, and it's a dead giveaway that Westerners wrote their language.

True that.

I don't mean to cut out all acidity. I just mean I was going too heavy on it, I don't need to rely on it so much for flavor. As for tomatoes and fruits, absolutely. :) I sometimes drink a tbsp of apple cider vinegar mixed with water, it really does help with heartburn. Honestly I think my main reason for heartburn is smoking and drinking. Also overeating. I've always needed tons of calories simply to not LOSE weight, even when I didn't exercise... this year I have put on like 30 pounds of body fat. I'm still pretty lean but in no way skinny anymore like I had been my whole life up until recently. So I realize I have lesser calorie needs than I used to, my metabolism is slowing down a little. takes me a little longer to digest my food (used to be I could get disgustingly full and be hungry again an hour later sometimes), and having too much food in my stomach causes some reflex issues now, where it didn't before. So basically just a bunch of dietary adjustments but I am looking forward to the challenge. :) I love cooking and like to think I've gotten really good at it, it's another art form to me, and it's exciting to try to develop new delicious flavors with different things or with less of things. :) Currently trying to develop subtler delicious flavors, using more vegetables and less dairy, meat, cheese, etc.

I could never live without acidic stuff in the kitchen... lemon juice for everything imo (not really but close ;) )

I am trying to learn this song right now allthough the strumming pattern isn't easy for a noob as myself, but I think I start to figure it out. frusciante was the guitar player for the red hot chili peppers, but his solo albums are worth listening as well. great musician!

Yeah man, I'm totally with you on the metabolism slowing down. I also used to be able to eat eat eat...and then eat again a few hours later and no problemo. In fact, it felt great, and I had tons of energy. Less so, these days. Now if I eat like that I feel like I'm hitting the shitter four times a day, when before it was once a day.

I've been putting horseradish on a lot of food these days. I love that flavor and awesome vapor. (not the breath)

I love balsamic vinegar so much, I have just found recently that I can use a lot less of it and get the flavor of it still, especially when used in different ways or with different things.

Absolutely, especially balsamic sauce which is like a sweet syrupy version... excellent when making a pizza or many other things..
cradle the balsamic, stroke the chef

Honestly I think my main reason for heartburn is smoking and drinking. Also overeating.

Yep, those will do it. Even snus gave me heartburn, but I think smoking is even worse, because it seems like the hot air from smoking anything dries out your throat / esophagus.

Pro tip for a heartburn attack: chewing gum. It's amazing; the increased saliva production washes all the acid right out of your esophagus.

I've always needed tons of calories simply to not LOSE weight, even when I didn't exercise... this year I have put on like 30 pounds of body fat. I'm still pretty lean but in no way skinny anymore like I had been my whole life up until recently

For some reason I've always pictured you as a slightly round fella. Like, not overweight or chubby by any means, but... full. I guess I was wrong, haha.

There's something wonderful about cooking, yes. Getting your hands dirty the good old-fashioned way, exercising your creativity and skill to make something not only sensuously pleasurable, but healthy as well.

Yeah, I love the smack-in-the-face of a good dollop of horseradish, wasabi, or spicy mustard. Clears your sinuses right up.

Haha, nope, I was always quite underweight from average as a kid and young adult, in fact our stupid family doctor accused my mom of not feeding me enough. I've always eaten a ton though. I would try to eat as much as possible, stay full all day for a week, not gain a pound. It was crazy. I started working out in 2014 and put on muscle mass and stopped looking skinny but still had little body fat. This past year I've filled out more but still, round is not a word anyone would use to describe me. :)

There is actually a video of me playing piano sometime this past year in the annals of PD Social history. With no shirt on. ;)
