Virtual Sex in the future?

What do you people think of Virtual sex? They are working on Sex haptic suits that you put on and experience sex over the Internet, you can already do that with teledildonics with a long distance partner or to virtual porn that is a sex toy that stimulates over the net. People like ray kurtsweil reckon virtual sex will be as good as real thing by 2025. There's a website called futureofsex.net all about it. Would you use this sex tech or is it technology gone mad?
 
i dont see how it can recreate the feeling of intimacy with another human being. being totally accepted by another person.

that is what im interested in.. porn doesn't cut it, hookers don't cut it.

i get it a small amount just with eye contact or flirting occasionally .
 
I think sex haptic suits could be a big thing, for example in conjunction with specially designed porn movies.
I also think robot sex could go far.
Just imagine a robot lover, who you could program to keep going until you have had several orgasms and will then give you a nice massage until you fall asleep.

I think robot sex won't be good or realistic for another 30years, I reckon there will be different price range versions, chavs will buy the cheap budget version and it will break down and go pop after 10 shags with it! Lol.
 
I personally don't think virtual sex will ever be able to replace the real thing - especially when the original action comes with great and warm feelings of intimacy and authenticity. Maybe it gets to a point you get yourself satisfied physically speaking. But imho that is a different sort of pleasure and we'll call it sex too.

I am sure virtual sex is fun and it goes beyond your imagination flooding your brain with new things, perspectives and is capable of making you feel good, but rather empty rather than inspiring.

Innit. No kind of suit is going to be able to replicate the senses, smell, feeling and emotion which are invoked by actual intimacy.

I find the smell of a woman's skin to be quite intoxicating. I've always imagined it was pheromones? Couldn't imagine it being quite the same in some kind of weird suit.

It will replace (or enhance) masturbation, not sex.
 
I think it will be a novelty new way, more like virtual masturbation, but it won't be like real sex or masturbation but something in between or it could be mind blowing and different. But like as a teenager when I first experienced techno uk hardcore rave music in early 90s when 13, it was a adrenaline rush that ordinary so-called real music couldn't give. It's like comparing acoustic guitar with electric guitar, there is a difference and is amplified making it a heavier experience!

My thoughts exactly.
 
No book reproduces the sex experience yet people masturbate to porn stories
No video reproduces the sex experience yet people masturbate to video porn.
Suits and robots will not be the exact same thing but you can bet your ass that quite a lot of people are going to like them more and find them more immersive experiences than books or videos.
Imagine a situation in which a husband and wife are separated for long periods but have a high speed internet connection. Both of them could suit up and make love to the haptic image of the other and have a live experience together.
The missing sensory stimulus would be smell and taste, but I could imagine that odour could be fairly easily solved.

i think were still dealing societally with the ramifications of high speed porn, to me there needs to be some philosophical debate as to the worth of engaging in virtual sex if the technology becomes available to the public.

i don't see how it would enrich my life to be able to with 0 effort on my part, engage in semi-realistic sex in VR.

hold on a sec... there already is virtual sex its called lucid dreaming sex, and anyone has the ability to train to accomplish it. many lucid dreamers consider it to be the tip of the iceberg of the intriguing possibilities of exploring dream worlds.
 
It might not enrich your life, but I would be pretty willing to bet that many people would find it enriching.
An excellent way to fulfill unrealisable fantasies perhaps.
 
In Blindsight and Echopraxia by Peter Watts in ~2080 sex is mostly virtual with so called "skins" that you customise and it has all the sensory inputs of real sex, it's not fully described as it's not a major part of the story, but it gotten to the point where first person sex is considered a kink.
