Is Bluelight dying ?

sorry everyone but I am not even going to read all the post on this topic before I let who ever is still reading my opinion, I think they developers of the site should have added a LIVE chat feature to the forum a year or so ago when they could see that it was already dead.. TO LATE NOW GUYS. All you got are new junkies seeking help or the very few older posters like myself who seem to only keep there interests into a couple of topics they are affected in, like myself I'm a big poster of methamphetamine thread, I will always open that 1st then just have a look at newposts

I still think a live chat service would be beneficial for the site. It's got to keep up with other growing social media trends if it wishes to compete. Yes, this is an HR site, like a more interactive and personal wiki. More detailed with personal experiences as well as just facts. With sharing and asking about those personal experiences personal friendships are bound to form. We do want to chat with each other on a more immediate level. It's an idea Methyl and a very good one IMO.

^^ A live chat feature for Bluelight is something I'd love to see happen.

I'm not an old poster by any means, and I've seen plenty of people come and go in this time. The lives of those people that used this forum change, and when they feel they no longer need the information, and support this great forum has to offer, they leave with great respect for the contributors, and the dedicated individuals who constantly offered them support in the times they needed it the most. I guess the reasons many users leave, is because they feel that after fighting whatever battles they've conquered in their lives whilst being here, could mean that they want to turn over a new leaf, and remove themselves from the past, and start a new. I see this is a positive thing, rather than a negative.

Just my thoughts. :)

It is very much a positive thing for many people. I've known quite a few to fade away from BL simply because they have new lives now. They have family, new friends, a more active social life full of sobriety based activities. There are many reasons people stop posting. Though it's sad to see someone go, you're happy that they are happy with what they're doing.

For those who do remain, live chat would be a nice feature to have. Gotta roll with the times my friend.

BL is pretty poor compared to other similar sites. Seems to be a lot of people looking to argue over nothing. BL won't last because its it new member friendly.

^ but....
Don't get why people continualy moan and bitch about forum but keep using it. If someone don't like it they don't have to use it.

Right!?

On the other hand, i really like BL being a repository of HR knowledge and firsthand perspectives on using drugs that are often very obscure and untested.

I think a chat format could take away from one of the qualities of bluelight that is most valuable - that it is resource for users and researchers alike.
Discussion boards may be a old hat or something, but i think if bluelight changed it's format too drastically, it could easily lose what makes it work, for the most part.

Heh, liking your edit...

fair point but there's nothing wrong with moving a little with the times. Leave it too "old hat" and you get left behind. That is until some roaster of a hipster starts to like its old school quality. Do we really want a bl full of hipsters ;)

there are defiantly pros and cons to having a chat feature. Depends on how it's used. By having static conversations you're leaving it open for anyone to read in their own time, scroll through, get the bigger picture and involve everyone. So, I can see your point there, it really can have benefits far more reaching than instant gratification of conversation. Teaches people patience in some respect.

What chance has BL got when some of the senior mods are complete twats.
Space junk, one coment about BL being poor isn't continually moaning is it though??
Shm was bitchin about BL for a long time, making comments like when he stops using BL his quality of life is better.
Not really the same as a one off comment.

Wasn't an argument mate, more an observation.
Thanks for your input though, kind of proves my point in a way, no need to post that as it's just more bullshit. Adds nothing whatsoever.

It isn't really an argument though is it? It's personal observation / opinion. Everyone has one. Isn't that the whole point to this thread? Personal opinion. No one has to agree with it but that doesn't change the fact that someone feels the way they do. Nothing wrong with a bit of discussion, doesn't have to turn into an argument.

It doesn't have to turn into an argument but it does, it's exactly what I was saying, BL got too mang members wanting to argue and act like dicks like Keeping for example lol

Yea and sometimes it's just someone trying to argue while the other person isn't.

in life, I've found that to be all too true. :\ . Suppose the only thing we can control are our own reactions. You can't control how others behave. Also, sometimes it's good just to listen to understand, not just to listen to react. Or not listen at all as the case maybe sometimes.....

I've been reading Blue light threads for years now and finally signed up a month and a half ago.. To be honest it's a little disappointing to have a lot of questions go unanswered.. 98% of the people that I know don't know about my drug use and I thought I had finally found a place where I belong.. But once I started posting my own threads I noticed I wasn't getting many responses.. (and I've posted in a few sections I thought were popular).. I'm not a hardcore drug user.. Mainly MDMA, weed, alcohol and recently contemplating cocaine use... I've shared my experiences with other drugs I've tried and offered advice based off of my knowledge and usage of other drugs I've done.. But I don't seem to be getting the same in return.. ??
