Excuses for missing work to detox

I am wondering if anyone has ever successfully kept their job after calling out sick for 3-6 days in order to detox, and what a good health problem is good to use that won't be questioned too much. I do suffer from endometriousis (even though I can't spell it), and kidney stones / a constant battle with uti's. I think these have a lot to do with the drug abuse. I am considering just straight out quitting my job so I can get clean. I also need to pass a drug test to get a new job, and hate my current one as well as my dependency situation. I want to get clean once and for all and plan on following up with an outpatient rehab program. But if possible I still want to attempt to keep my current job until I find a new one. My current job actually is part of a union and I believe I still have quite a few sick days left. I just want a good excuse since I called in today, have two days off, and am considering jumping on the wagon after tomorrow when I run out. I'm honestly not all that worried about losing this because I hate it and am temporarily living with my mother until I can get clean. I relapsed recently which is why I need to go through this again, and if my mother finds out what I am doing she will kick me out. So I also need a good excuse for her as to why I am sick again... She is very naive so she won't know it's withdrawal again. Any advice would be appreciated. I recently posted about hiding synthetic urine, but I would have to stop using in order to afford it anyways. Thank you.

If you have a history of UTI / Kidney stone problems then get a doctors note to cover you on the basis of craps / pain. Depending on your job some employers will take a self signed note for three days after that you need to see a doctor.

You could always use your two days holiday as a starter so you would only be taking the 4 days off from work.

We do not allow discussion on how to pass drug tests, how to cheat drug tests etc which you were advised about in your earlier thread so please stop posting about them.

I called out for 4 days on a cols turkey Kratom kick, said flu. It was February though no one gets sick in September.

See your doctor, he may be able to write a vague not about you being sick with no mention of drugs. I've done that a few times, if your doctor won't kick him to the curb get a cooler one.

And these aren't guys that are loose with the pad I haven't been prescribed anything scheduled in probably 10 years.

What would happen, if some one goes to the doc on wd and telling not to know, whats the reason for the sickness?

Personally I would advise against quitting your job to detox. Withdrawal is tough as is, but the hardest part of being freshly clean is re-adjusting to your life, and it's very nice if you have something to "come back to" so to speak. If you're dealing with remnants of withdrawal, got no job, no money, nothing to do, it'll only make it harder not to use again.

I wouldn't nessecarily quit either but my problem is ill get clean then as soon as I get money in my hand again it's hard for me to not go and cop.. Are you just going cold turkey or what ??

I had my doctor write a certifcate excusing me from work for a "medical condition" when i had to go into inpatient detox to be stabilised in a supervised manner during a benzo taper.
Your health is a private matter - it really isn't any of your emoloyer's business what the condition is, so long as they can be assured that you are fit to fulfill your normal work duties upon your return, which you may politely suggest your doctor include in the note or certificate.
Assurrance that you will be fit and safe to work from a certain date is, in my experience (in professional jobs) more important than disclosure of the nature of your heath-related absence. People take time off work for medical treatment all the time.

Also acceptable in my experience is "a medical procedure" (not really bending the truth too much) or something of that nature.

If you are particularly concerned about your privacy being breached by your employer, i would suggest simply hinting that you are embarassed by the nature of your health issue (as opposed to acting shady or deceptive, which may ultimately raise more questions)

This. I've gotten clean a fair number of times now, but always relapsed and I think the main reason I relapsed was because I didn't have job, so no routine and too much time to think about using/craving drugs. When you're working you're busy so you don't have time to think about using, or to have real bad cravings. And when you get home after work, you're legit tired, which also helps enormously with cravings and with staying positive. The sense of accomplishment you get after a day's work is a really big help when kicking.

So I'd say try to get a few sick days (as many as you think you really need, for me I guess that would be 4-6 days depending on the size of my habit). Then as soon as you're getting better (you won't feel 100% yet, but if you wait for that you'll need more like 10 days which I don't imagine you can get off too easily unless you're using vacation days), and even if you're not feeling completely better yet, going back to work as soon as you're able will help you get back to normal faster.

Also, don't worry if you still have some minor symptoms when going back to work, that way your boss can see that you were really sick and that you've come back to work despite not being all better. ;)
