Hello all I've been reading and now I am here
My question is how long must I wait to began suboxone after stopping my oxys? I' have script for 4, 30 mg per day plus 2, 30 oxymorphone. I run out every month and need to detox AGAIN. I'm was up to 200-250mg per day.....Did it before with subs and have plenty of strips. Last time I started with 8mg strips twice a day and tapered on my own in a month. I'm looking to do it quicker this time. I am a chronic pain sufferer but you know how that goes. Anyway I've seen some short taper threads but want to know 2 things.
1. What is the shortest amount of time I need to wait after taking the oxy. I've stopped the long acting oxymorphone already. I'm down to 120mg of oxy the last few days.
2. What amount should I start with to induce?
2mgs? How little can I take and be comfortable ??

when I took Suboxone i couldn't take any opiates for atleast 24 hours before taking Suboxone because it would make me sick. Have you considered subutex?
 
I am on day one without oxy. I took 2 mg suboxone and anothe 2 mg sub around 11am
I feel very spacy. Lethargic. Also takin lozerpam and nuronton. Most Wd symptoms are not present. I have lots of suboxone
Should I take more?
Day one I been help as to what to do

I think I have induced successful so I think I'll take more subs to see if it helps me but I'm not sure thst is right.
Please can anyone help me
I'm thinking about taking a whole 8mg strip
 
Hey man sorry usually alot of people answer .. if you aren't feeling withdrawal from it yet you should be good. Again just from my experience dr even told me first day you might need more.
 
Some people say Suboxone makes them sick if they more than 1 I've taken 5-6 before didnt do anything but make me not pill sick. Your body should tell you within 30 min after.
 
^ 5 or 6 mg? Unless you have a high tolerance, even that is quite a high dose.
If you're unfamiliar with buprenorphine, i would not recommend exceeding 2mg, absolute maxiumum. It's very potent stuff.

If you're going to switch to suboxone/subutex and want to avoid precipitated withdrawal, you need to wait til you are in full withdrawal.
If you are using subs to taper of pharmaceutical opioids, don't take any more sub/bupe than you need to to stave off withdrawals.
How much you'll need can vary greatly from person to person, depending on your habit, tolerance, metabolism, etc

The subutex will not make you sick that's the difference between the 2. Strips are 8mg hell be ok taking 2mg at a time if he isn't feeling well. I've seen people say they are sick as a dog from withdrawal and go run a marathon and look just fine I look like I'm dying and can barely wash a dish and I'm a healthy hard worker when I'm not sick. Could be part mental too opiate addiction is serious mental illness.

Spacejunk is right though your body will tell you depending on mg and how long you used so don't abuse the Suboxone it's just a waste and could make you sick.
 
I think your feeling withdrawal rather than the situation of Suboxone. 250-300mg opiate daily is a decent addiction. You'll need 8-10mg atleast first couple days then I would take less when you start feeling normal again. Test yourself and see if you can your body will feel better eventually.

What makes you say subutex will not make you sick?
If you are referring to precipitated withdrawals, that can happen with both suboxone and subutex. It's due to buprenorphine's high binding affinity to opiate receptors, not the naloxone present in subxone.
 
The bup is the blocker the naloxone is in Suboxone not subutex. That's what makes you sick if used incorrectly.
 
Maybe I'm wrong but I never got sick with subutex always on Suboxone though if taken too early. Every time actually. I've used subutex then 5-6 hours later shot 3 bags I didn't get high but not sick either

Its when you takr bupe too soon after your regular opioid dose that you get precipitated w.d.'s, not the other way around. If you're taking bupe then take a full agonist opioid, you will just feel less of a high, if any. Both of these are caused by bupes higher binding affinity. As has been said, the naloxone is not what sends you into precipitated w.d.'s. The naloxone does basically nothing.
 
Yea hes right I stand corrected on that part. Actually very good interpitation I only took after and got precoated w,d when I switched from methadone to Suboxone and it was hell . I would get sick with Suboxone if I took a opiate in the morning but wasn't too bad just jiggers and hands sweaty. Subutex didn't do that at all.

I taken an 8 mg sub feel very lethargic
No real WD very spacy woozy I think the other meds lorazepam and gabapentin keep me calm and sedated it's hard to make this post. Anyway i know I talking to myself but this IS A SOLO JOURNEY and this is my record. I have a record of when I took my meds so I must find that find out when I should take more. As for the subsi don't know when I should take more.
Perhaps no till tomorrow and I will begin the taper on next dose I guess. Day one and now I'm feeling ok just really drugged

its great to here from u all. I have taken the 8 mg suboxone and feel better. I know I waited long enoug. I also did a very fast taper with the oxy the last few day. I think that helped cause I waited only 18 hrs from last oxy but that was half a pill soonly15mgs. My normal script is 4/30 mg oxy plus 2/30 mg oxymorphone EACH day. For chronic back pain. It's hard to make them last a month as I always take more when I'm in serious pain or I'm takin more just to feel ok. So here I am again. I donk know what is worse pain or addiction. I think they are joined at the hip
 
How much lorazepam and gabapentin did you take?
Is there anyone that can just watch out for you to make sure you're ok?
Sounds like you have a fair tolerance, so 8mg might not be much, for people with smaller habits that could be a bit heavy.

Bupe's not the most pleasant feelng opiate though is it? Purely used for functional reasons (tapers, emergencies) whenever i've taken it in the past. I don't think it's especially recreational, as opiates go...
 
I'm using it to detox and I'm planning a fast taper in thr next 3-4 days I have 1mg lorazepam supposed to take 4 times a day first day then 3 then 2 ect
I also take neurontin. They keep me very sedated. Wife will be home later
