Bernie Sanders

Sanders is just an incarnation of the stirring left, I'm sure he knew from the beginning he wasn't going to win, he might even be surprised he made it as far as he did. But the more left leaning portion of the country is starting to show signs of life lately, having been comatose for decades. Like I said about the Occupy movement, the Sanders campaign is a temperature check, not the main event. The left-wing right now is like an unorganized storm brewing, it's showing signs of activity but isn't quite established despite its growing strength. OWS, the sudden popularity of Sanders, BLM. Makes me wonder what's next and what happens when everything congeals.

I don't think it matters who wins the general, both candidates are going to fan the flames. Is the dynastic millionaire going to represent the ordinary people or is the Hearst-like billionaire going to represent the ordinary people?

Exactly; it's very encouraging considering how apparently dormant (or successfully repressed/ignored/infiltrated) the American left have been for the last few decades

Oops, wrong Hearst, sorry ;)

The revolution is coming. There have been five political realignments since the beginning of this country. I see a political realignment towards the left that will start with many attempts at repealing citizens united.

I am no bernie sanders though I am a fan of some of his work. I just have a feeling that the majority of americans are sick of the shit show that is the republican party and the democratic party. They are both the same party with just small differing views. I believe the working class and middle class want to see fair and equitable taxing and social programs like those in europe. I mean everywhere you look everyone has negative wealth due to the way our economy is set up. Right now the working class and middle class are subjected to hyper-capitalism in which if you make a mistake or take a hit by being laid off or sick you end up in serious debt. The corporations and wealthy are subject to a form of socialism in which the government bails out business that are going to fail and gives huge tax incentives to wealthy folks (who do their best not to pay them.)

I just see a much better time in our future in which politicians are held accountable to their constituents by their constituents. People are realizing that citizens united is a failed policy. It has made our government pay to play which is perfect climate for a political realignment.

We need term limits and a ban on lobbying for 10 years after you leave public office/service. If we can have presidential term limits why should other public office positions be any different ?

Totally speaking my language now. I have noticed that a lot of people in public office end up working for the lobbying firms that lined their pockets to begin with. When this country was founded politicians did the job to serve their country, and then went back to whatever trade they were in after serving. This worked. Now politicians have "political careers" which is completely against the ideals of our founding fathers. The Lobbying has made american government less about the constituents and more about raising money for their party. Just look at the emails about the big donors and their seating arrangements at the DNC.

The fact that the calls for unity are being met with boos at the convention is music to my ears, keep it up everyone!

I dont think the DNC truly realizes how much they are alienating their future voter base with the shit they have pulled during the primary process. I will never vote for Hillary Clinton, if only to send them a message that their behavior is unacceptable. Voting for Clinton at this point would basically tell them that they can do whatever they want during the nomination process with impunity. As president do you think Clinton will change the culture of the DNC to be more legitimate after they giftwrapped the nomination for her? Not a chance in hell, despite all of the points that Bernie has made about Clinton aligning with his principles more than Trump, it is still not enough. She is 100% wrong on my two core issues (Trade and financial regulations). At least Trump checks one of those boxes.

In short, I have completely ruled out voting for Clinton in light of the DNC e-mail leaks. And if recent polling numbers are to be believed, I am not the only one. Assange is a dirty anti-american bastard, but I hope he isn't bluffing when he says that he has some really bad dirt on Clinton. God knows someone does.

Even as Bernie goes full turncoat endorsing Clinton, it was never really about Bernie. He is a 70+ self declared socialist Jew, its hard to write a script of un-electability better than that. This is about the ideals and the movement that existed before Bernie and will exist after he is no longer relevant. I really wish Warren had run, no doubt in my mind she would have done even better than Bernie, and maybe even won the nomination despite the crooked DNC machine working for Hillary.

My anger at the Democratic party for fraud against bernie is causing me some existential turmoil about how I view politics in general. Maybe what was done is what was needed? I do not know...I just know I feel very let down by both parties, and voting third party is a waste because only blue shirts and red shirts get to play and people with no shirts ride the pine.

MBC,did it take the email leak?Surely you must have suspected the rigging,Bernie was complaining forever and the "super-delegate" thing went beyond ridiculous. And now we have Terry McAuliffe saying that Hildo isn't really against TPP. My God,what a mess.

Welcome to profound political disillusionment.
You get used to it after a while.
