I've always been a huge fan of weed. I've been smoking since I was 16 on and off(so about 12 years now). For the past year or so, I haven't been smoking on the regular thanks to regular drug tests from my psych Doctor. She insisted I smokeing because I was on benzos. So I did. Then the tests went from every 2 weeks to every month so I started smoking a little. But recently, like the past month, I've been trying to stop n I just can't! I even pissed dirty at my pain Doctor last week and Im still smoking!!! Why can't I stop?!? I always say Im gunna stop "tomorrow" then tomorrow never comes. Any advice or help???

You've been smoking for 12 years, as with anything else, when you continuously use/abuse something for that long, your mindset is in a pattern that needs weed.

Its a psychological attachment.

Thankfully, a psychological attachment can be broken. The best option would be to smoke everything you have, and not buy more. Tell yourself youre taking a tolerance break, dont tell yourself that youre quitting forever. Once theres no more weed in your possession, just take some personal days to work on your hobbies or do something out of the ordinary. After about 3 days, you should be completely fine, and then you can work on getting over it psychologically once you realize that living most of your life sober works just as well. Make weed a special occasion kind of thing, not an everyday kind of thing

in all seriousness its more psychological than anything
the prep, the smoking ritual and the fun afterwards ill admit will be tough to get over but if its affecting your quality of life then its time to let MJ go
in all honesty if i had means i would take the cannabis over benzos and all this other shit i was given anyday
just quit smoking it

I am 3 weeks clean from herb. I have been smoking for almost ten years. I'm not gonna lie it's hard. I wanted to stop for many years. Recently I realized my life was going no where and was shit. It got to the point where I hit rock bottom after eating a
Whole scrip of xanxa and a few weeks later a whole scrip of Zolpidem. It felt so horrible I knew I had to go 100% clean.
I would go few days with out blazing then get high on the weekends for several weeks then I had a hard detox. It sucks. But I got a lot of exercise, drank hella water and bentonite clay. Got a sober best friend and saw an ayervedic doctor.
You can do it.

You can do this. It's only cannabis.

Tell yourself that at least you're not physically and psychologically addicted to opiates, benzos, and/or alcohol.

People can easily become psychologically addicted to cannabis, and basically if it's around they'll smoke it. I've known people who said they were physically addicted since if they did not smoke or get stoned they would feel extremely nauseous and some said they could not do daily everyday things like eating without being stoned.

Don't replace it with other drugs, and do just find healthier things to do besides smoking herb. When I quit smoking herb I started to exercise a lot more doing cardio on a daily basis instead of doing it 3-5X a week like I did when I smoked daily for about a month.

I'm already on opiates and benzos but it's weird because I don't abusr them. I don't crave them. I CRAVE weed. Mainly due to anxiety, it just relaxes me sooo much n I don't care about anything. But you guys are right. I have a blunt and a half left that I can get through tonight. Only problem is I have unlimited access to it. My boyfriend smokes it so it's always there. But I would love to get in better shape. That'd be an excellent distraction. Thanks everyone!!

Many people don't realize the addictiveness of marijuana because it never happened to them. I can tell you firsthand, it's no joke. I know a friend who has been smoking since the 70's. You wouldn't want to be around her when she doesn't have her "medicine" because she turns into a bitch on wheels. My son also became dependent on it and the only thing stopping him from smoking now is being on probation for possession. He just told me yesterday he's been having mad cravings so I'm not going to minimize what you are experiencing. (I'm going to move this to Sober Living)

You drink bentonite clay? I have never heard of it. I use organic products and make most of my beauty products - use bentonite on my skin - but have never heard of drinking it. Do you mean activated charcoal?

Try planning a quit date - have it coincide with when you're about to run out. Schedule activities that day, and for a few days afterwards. Try to be as busy and as active as you can be, so you're tired at night. Also make sure to drink a lot of water and eat clean. You may also want to pick up CBD oil and begin taking that morning and night.

The CBD oil doesn't contain THC so you won't test positive for pot. CBD oil is very good for anxiety and have numerous other health benefits. I find that it puts me in a better head space, like a very mild antidepressant. You have to take it for a little while to notice the benefits, it's not something you take and immediately feel a difference. I took it for about two weeks before I noticed any effects from it. It may help with weed cravings too, I don't know as I haven't smoked in a long time and it wasn't available the last time I quit.

However, doing the things I mentioned in the first paragraph helped me quit weed. I've smoked off and on for years, when I do smoke, it quickly becomes a daily, hourly habit and I found it difficult to quit. The only withdrawal I noticed was a very strong boredom and apathy for a few days, and within a week was fine. Good luck!

Yes I drink bentonite clay. There is a product called Sonney's #7 that is a bentonite solution for drinking, sold as and intestinal cleanser. I used to pass piss tests with it when I was youth.

Interesting. I'm going to have to read about it now lol. Thx!

You may need to tell your boyfriend to not smoke around you for a while. It is also triggering to smell it so it is probably best that he isn't high around you, or have it in his pocket.

This is one of the things about getting clean that is hard. You have to change your people places and things, and if your people respect you, they will change with you. I am not saying he needs to quit, but if he respects you he will keep it away from you till you are strong enough to deal with it.

A lot of sleep. I take Trazadone and Klonopin at night, but my back pain always wakes me up. But today is my first day clean. Gunna try to drink tons of water too

I'm not so sure that it's just a psychological attachment. I surprisingly had a lot of withdrawals when I stopped smoking weed -- vivid dreams/nightmares, insomnia, extreme irritability, really bad headaches for about a month -- my doctor actually told me its "marijuana withdrawal syndrome" or something like that.
