To be clear, I'm getting off suboxone by using heroin. I want to give clean living a chance. I've been on sub for about 9 months and I have been doing heroin and taking kratom for almost 2 weeks to get the sub out of my system and now I'm about to start my rapid detox. I'm planning on tapering down exponentially from 4 mgs to 2 to 1 to .5 to .25

Does anybody have any advice or experience with this? Everyone I know thinks I'm crazy for thinking this will work but it makes sense to me.

I went cold turkey off 8-12mg of Sub per day and the WD's were horrible for 14 straight days, just recently I did a quick taper like you and my WD's were cut in half. I know some people who weren't as lucky as me though. Best of luck and keep fighting the good fight.

You are going to be uncomfortable no matter how low you taper. I do suggest doing a taper, but just be prepared to feel pretty crappy for about a week. Bupe isn't like regular opiates in the sense that at day seven you turn a corner so to speak and feel really good. They actually only slowly get better after the third day and it is a gradual process.

The best thing you can do for yourself while you are still taking bupe is to start setting up a place to detox that is comfortable that you can have a friend stay with you. Acquire the comfort meds you will need. The withdrawing is the easy part...it is the staying sober that is challenging. Fresh off bupe you will want to have a recovery plan in place... Basically your recovery plan should address the issues that caused you to use in the first place, not to mention having a backup plan in case you are hit with PAWS and want to use. Like have a few numbers written out so that is the first thing you use.

Good luck my friend. I know you can do this.
