Did society create Religion

Christianity is not a set of rules. The bible says that man cannot follow rules and they need a savior to save them. You cannot look at the bible as a set of rules. You need to look at the bible as a set of rules that no one can keep, and you are in need of a savior. Jesus bore your sins cause he knew you couldn't save yourself, and couldn't follow the rules. Jesus lived a perfect life in your place.

There's a lot of people who will go against what I said, but this is the truth. Jesus said we have all sinned, and fallen short of the glory of God. Put your trust in Jesus that he bore your sins, and you will be saved.

What a way to rid yourself of any responsibility and quit trying to be a good person. Pathetic.

Where in my post does it say that a Christian is to quit trying to be a good person? And I take full responsibility for my wrong doings. I repent on a daily basis and ask God to help me live a life free of sin. At the same time I realize that Jesus lived a perfect life in my place, and he bore my wrong doings on the cross and my sin debt has been paid.

Jesus summed up all the rules into 2 commandments in Matthew 22

Love the lord God with all your heart
And love your neighbor as yourself.

I'd say society created religion, and at the same time, religion created society. This is one possible way to interpret "As above, so below" or "On earth as it is in heaven." I think it is quite likely we modeled a lot of the institutions, both formal and informal, for dealing with each other, on the institutions we'd built for dealing with the great beyond. And vice versa. ;)
