I was never in to doing gigantic shots of meth, I'd maybe backload crushed up crystals up to the 30cc mark and mix it with my black tar heroin. The thing about this drug is unless your using big veins you are are going to blow out your vascular system in no time. If you know how to hit your deep brachial that one will be able to tolerate the meth as long as you just don't overdo it and switch from side to side. I'd do the same thing with my deep femoral vein but I can't condone that on a harm reduction forum. Theres nothing as painful as missing a goofball into your femoral artery.
Really?? I've always noticed just the opposite about meth IV. All the tweaks I know who've been shooting up for 15+ years - for the most part - still hit in the same places as a decade and a half ago. I've never blown or collapsed or done anything more than (a doctor would probably call it serious) nerve damage where I hit almost every time, sometimes near a dozen times every 24 hours until I crashed - at that time I would go back to that spot around every 4-5 shots, or at least that's what I recall of the time...a lot of blurred memories.. So, back to my point, out of all the Heroin users I know, they ALL have fucked their vascular system to no bitter end and now some of them HAVE to hit in their femoral! All the users I've known IV'ing both have as much damage as the H users.
Now I know meth specifically causes vascular issues, and, yes, it's best to find the largest, most easily accessed, and most sure-fire location to not miss, as vasoconstriction (is that correct term?) is quite real, and very apparent. Even more so when up for 8 days trying to hit - with at least god only knows how much still left un-metabolized in you - outside wondering why it's so god damned hot in the middle of the desert at 4AM? It was probably the meth, cause it gets very cold out there at night.
Anyways, I'm not saying it's not damaging and can't have SERIOUS/FATAL complications especially when attempting whilst uninformed. I've just rarely seen a tweak who can't hit cause they collapsed their shit: the shakes, yes (quite often actually hah); the psychosis, yes; the vasoconstriction, absolutely! That's all the tar users around here though, for sure (I should have been clear about that earlier - the Heroin users I spoke of used black tar exclusively). I wouldn't suggest anyone attempt to hit ANY DEEP VEINS unless they have no other places to do so, being as they've already blown out every usable and sensible other place on their body.
I mean unless you really want to, then do what you'll do but research it first and I'd really avoid the femoral..
Znegative, it sounds like you have experience and I'm not trying to sway you or bash your post or anything. I just think in terms of Harm Reduction advising people to burrow (for me) an inch and a half or so into your flesh to barrel a gooey paste of future abscess within you, especially due to the artery right next to it, even if you don't get an abscess and miss the artery you can block that artery with a missed shot really fast! I caused deep vein thrombosis (spelling?) in an ex of mine when I tried to hit next to an artery in her shoulder/chest area. Her arms and neck and face were so big I thought she was gonna pop! We were homeless at the time, no phone, in the middle of nowhere with a walk to the hospital at well over 10 miles. We started walking and barely got a mile before the swelling went down and she was okay but I felt so god damned bad! Which is another thing I noticed with meth, it seems to absorb real fast when I've missed, am I just really close to the vein with what was missed or is it like that for everyone?
There's a small book, almost like a pocketbook, that they used to give out at several needle exchanges out here and I have it somewhere but for the life of me can't remember where... it's called "Getting Off Right." I've never personally checked google for it but it might be out there and it's VERY informative and EXTREMELY ACCURATE INFORMATION. I was trained properly (after quite a long time of improper use) by a (ex) medical professional turned heroin addict for 9 years, had one maybe two bad veins, but overall in good shape when I knew her, other than the heavy H addiction.
