Hey all,

Did a big search on Nootropics, read through the Big and Dandy thread;but everything here seems to be relatively anecdotal.

Does anyone have some good advice on supplement stacks or reference to actual studies completed?

Researching this stuff online seems to be quite complicated as 95% of the info out their is marketing for someone's "ULTIMATE BRAIN SUPPLEMENT MUST TRY"

What nootropics have you taken that have seemed to have the largest effect?

Hi,
I personally have tried noopept as a nootropic including Phenibut and IQuizil.
I could recommend to read on examine.com, for scientific research about informations. They also have a lot of links to studies on their page.

The beginner's guide on reddit might be useful. https://www.reddit.com/r/nootropics/wiki/beginners

The most common stack on reddit might be caffeine and l-theanine at the start. Noopept might be popular, but i guess modafinil might still be the most popular nootropic, referred to Steve Cronins Top5 of 2015. (A guy who has some kind of a nootropic chan on youtube.)
I've never really tried modafinil so i can't vouch for it.

I've written a review to both nootropics. (IQuizil and Phenibut)

I just wanted to say that out of all the nootropics i have and use Phenibut is the best and most effective. I stack it with kratom & kava works great. But if you want to see clinical trials vs placebo the one site that comes to mind is "Onnit" dot com.

I have been using l-theanine for years now, and tried many different brands including "Suntheanine" . My preferred brand above all others is Liftmode for many reasons like fast shipping, purity/potency, and price effectiveness. L-theanine is great for taking the edge off of stress and anxiety associated with busy lifestyles. Personally I use it to smooth out the effects of caffine and other stimulants. It also helps with sleep without leaving me groggy. I am very satisfied with Liftmode as my vendor for several supplements.

I wouldn't really call modafinil a nootropic, it's main function in my experience is to wipe away the effects of fatigue, combined with a very mild stimulant effect which fades after a few days. It can make you function better cognitively, in the same way that being well rested and energetic will, but the effect is a secondary one. I think of it as as 8 hours of sleep, a healthy breakfast and a cup of coffee all mashed into pill form.

Great if you're struggling with chronic fatigue for medical reasons, or for occasional use to make up for missed sleep, but if you're constantly fatigued enough that you feel the need to take modafinil to boost your cognitive performance on a daily basis, you should probably look to fixing your sleep pattern and not drugs.

Okay, i have not much experience with modafinil will it also act positively on well rested people? And might be better for computer work than concerta?

Just tried IQuizil.

I just ordered a 10 Gram bag of Noopept, should I expect a subtle improvement or a stimmy feeling?

Glad I decided to order it yesterday... Noopept/Piracetam etc. becomes illegal in the UK from April onwards! 8)

I take modafinil, and like it for focus. Start at 50mg. My sweet spot is 100mg. Don't use more than 3 days a week. Stacks well with phenibut. Perhaps stack with kratom. Don't combine modafinil with amphetamines or dissociatives. Your mileage may vary.

For me noopept was subtle, not one of the stimmy ones like oxiracetam, modafinil or sunifiram. Or phenylpiracetam but that one I haven't tried.
If you start on noopept, you should probably take it sublingually - take the time to let it absorb in the mouth / under tongue. Cause it may be destroyed in the GI tract by proteases.

Modafinil is great for both focus and primarily staying sharp when tired.

Phenibut calms me down but also dumbs me like down like the VDCC it is like pregabalin. I don't get why its called a nootropic. Yeah it does make a day go smoothly but that seems to be cause less stress make things better to handle. [*maybe* it qualifies as adaptogen]. Curious cause with caffeine it is the increased stress that makes you productive. It may be situation and person dependent - its not true that for productivity as little stress as possible is best - everyone has an ideal stress level, keeping you on edge but not too much.

I love L-theanine but again it's not a nootropic, it's a mood enhancer. Yeah a good mood can improve other things as secondary effect I guess.

Tried a lot of supplements and nootropics, and I would only recommend aniracetam (best for frequent use imo), piracetam (similar but just inferior and less potent), and oxiracetam and pramiracetam were okay but not for a regimen I would say.
Modafinil is excellent for special occasions, and best for special occasions is sunifiram. Gives me stimulant-like increase in skill with say piano play, without feeling druggy. But it's not supposed to be healthy for daily use. Can result in problems.
