EADD Film Recommendations v5 - TBC

I enjoyed 'Amy', but I think that the parent could always be portrayed badly in this kind of situation. Made her stick with rehab, stifled her creativity, let her fight her own demons, should have done more. Was awful to watch the destruction playing out on screen though, when you saw ill she had become and her struggles :(

I thought he looked bad when she had gone to St Lucia with her friends to recover and she invited her dad along and he turned up with a camera crew in tow supposedly to film his life story. Amy was pissed off with him & said that if he was doing it for money she would have given him the money herself.
It was a great reminder though of what a fantastic voice she had. Singers like that don't come along very often.

Sorry it was a while ago when I watched it, I forgot about that - didn't the film crew turn up in a beach bar with him? It was pretty bad and took what should have been a break into another media shit storm. How you doing Max? You seem to be in a much better place with yourself lately which is a great thing to see :)

I hope your enjoying the break / Christmas

Yes you are right Bear he did turn up in the bar with a camera crew and they were supposed to be filming Mitch but in reality they were filming over his shoulder to see what Amy was up to.
I am doing really well thanks mate, nice of you to notice. I think I was probably a bit depressed over the last year or so about my health issues but nowadays I think I've learnt to accept that it isn't worth worrying about things I cannot change. All I can do is take the medications and hope that they do their job. I know I have learnt to be more grateful for the things I do have. Most important things are my loving mum & sisters and my best friend who is also my flatmate and he has stick by me for over 20 years now and friends like that don't come along very often so I am a lucky man indeed.

They use to host all nighters in the Arches? I'm sure I've been in there a few times at various gigs when I was clubbing around the UK. Baraka is stunning so is Samsara and I have them both on Blueray so look great on a big tv etc.

I bet that was a great experience watching the old movies to a DJ's playing especially when tripping / stoned.

Bear

This wasn't an allnighter, it was a during the day job. It used to be open until 5am depending on if it had a late licence during club nights. I used to go to a monthly night called PRESSURE - had some of the best nights of my life in that venue. Seen some amzing techno acts over the years: Jeff Mills, Dave Clarke, Cajmere, Green Velvet, Adam Beyer, Robert Hood, so fucking many.....

The film crew did fuck up what could have been a good holiday - not sure why he did it tbh, if he was going to cash in from it then he would have done so before now (and why it was a good move to include it in the movie).

You have had a rough year though Max - we all have them (I know I have), it just great to see you out the other side - yeah a bit battered and bruised but probably a bit stronger from the experience.

respect

Very true Bear, everyone has their bad times that they have to endure until they make it through to the other side. My mum always told me that what doesn't kill us makes us stronger and that is so true. If we didn't have hard times then we wouldn't appreciate the good times as much. Let us hope that we all have a great new year, let's make 2016 the best year yet.

'Creed' - The former World Heavyweight Champion Rocky Balboa serves as a trainer and mentor to Adonis Johnson, the son of his late friend and former rival Apollo Creed.

DID YOU KNOW that that character is played by the actor who played wee "Wallace" in The Wire???

I've got Amy and Lobster to watch. Looking forward to both of them.

I had to google 'the wire' - didn't / don't know that series so I actually didn't know the link :) Lobster is a great film

YOU DONT KNOW THE WIRE!!

Shame on you Mr Bear shame on you... :)

I can't recall ever watching it, probably heard of it but not enough to know references or actors from it etc. Still haven't got around to watching Breaking Bad or the Sopranos yet - there on my to do list :D

First of all, what the fuck?

And secondly - I'm kinda jealous. Cos I'd love to be able to watch The Wire (and Breaking Bad) again, but for the first time.

I've watched all 5 seasons of The Wire three times. There is a reason why people keep banging on about it. :)

It's funny I asked the bf today if he had watched it and at first he asked what it was, then when I explained (from the description on IMDb) he couldn't recall ever watching it either :D.

Full series is available for about 50 GB - I might put it on DL after my bandwidth is finished see what the fuss is about.

(I hope you and Koneko had a nice Christmas)

Bear

How exciting!

Make sure you get the newly remastered HD widescreen version, though. Well worth it. Do not watch one episode and think "well that was a bit boring, what was all the fuss about?" like many people do. Watch at least 4 episodes. Trust me.

(p.s. you too!)

Time Crimes

Nacho Vigalondo's time-travel thriller opens with Hector spying on a beautiful woman undressing in the woods near his property. Investigating, he finds her assaulted and he in turn is attacked by a man whose head is swathed in bandages. Fleeing, Hector encounters a scientific facility where a scientist persuades him to hide in a time machine. Traveling back in time just a few hours, he observes himself.

A really odd one with palpable suspense. Fantastic. Spanish with subs/dubbed.

That was a cracking film!

Long time no see, mate. :)
