DEA raids on past pod buyers??

Hello all!!


I am just sharing some information I heard from a few sources up where I live in NY. I don't know if this is 100% so I am asking if any others have heard similar information:

It has come to my attention that raids on pod vendors (legit craft dealers or others) has resulted in the enforcers to crack down on previous purchasers of poppy pods (if the buyer has placed many orders or a few large orders). I have heard this from a few people from different parts of NY, but I myself cannot see the DEA, FBI or locals wasting manpower and money on users/abusers buying some pods (whether it be present or past). There is so much heroin and script abuse and dealing around the country I don't know if I can accept the fact that former pod-heads or even current ones are in danger of getting arrested.
Can anyone clarify this or dismiss this? has anyone else heard about this?

I had 2 others mention this to me again. I myself just cant see the local or federals going crazy over the past. I am not a lawyer but I don't see where they could get the ok to do this from. I may be wrong, but it would be cool if anyone else who heard (yay or nay) about this to put their 2 cents in. Again this may be isolated to just my state, but I don't see why they would jump all over NY and not all buyers states (or it may be a fairy tale blown down the vine)

Not saying it's true but sometimes it's easier to go for the soft targets. Makes it look like are tax paid dollars are working.

that would make sense!! easy target and something to show besides 'time spent'. I heard of another 'bust'.....what exactly are they busting if its past buys???????? My question is for some of us who have loooooooong since consumed our last...what on earth would they threaten with???

like around here their are plenty of cops who know exactly who used in the past and they don't go around saying "sir we have proof you purchased tar a week back, you need to come with us".

I just don't understand laws anymore

Well if you purchased tar there wouldn't be records but if you are ordering a schedule 2 narcotic online or at a craft shop(still illegal) chances are somebodys paying attention. Especially online orders would be easy to pop because you don't pay with cash online.

Information regarding legality of growing, possessing, selling poppies...

Do you know exactly what sub-species of Papaver Somniferum you were selling?

Then also it depends WHY you had them (also from Wikipedia)

So it comes down to under what pretense you sold them, which sub-species you sold, how your local law enforcement interprets the above (the now repealed Opium Poppy Control Act of 1942, and current laws of your state).

Hope this was helpful, I believe you will be hard pressed to find any info on that specific topic unless you talk to a lawyer face to face (which is what I recommend if you are really nervous or not sure). There may be many others wondering, but as far as I know nothing out there than can be used as a "measure stick" or guide of any kind to predict anything. I do know the less you know about opium relating to poppies and making opium and all that, the better.
Good luck ( I realize this thread is really old, but people have kept it alive here and there and I don't think it's an issue that will be resolved soon).

Note: I do my best to adhere to all forum's rules. As I am involved in at least the better part of a dozen forums for just a variety of different things they ALL have their own rules (Some say use SWIM, some say DON't; some allow links, some don't; some allow more specificity of info regarding to state or situation and others don't even want you quoting stuff. correct!! but I still don't understand why they would waste time years later...when they don't even know if they even still have the pods/straw. Wouldn't they want to jump on that immediately so they can catch ya with the actual substance? I don't mean to make a big stink about this here, but I just find it hard to belive they would go after people (regardless of the paperwork proving) years later or even months later when they know the material is prob gone be it through legit crafts or through illicit consumption. I am curious on WHAT specificly they call you on when the material is long gone and the purchase is not nessicarily proven to be for consumption.

again not a big deal, I just find it very illogical and a waste of our tax for something that #1) they don't know if you have any left to charge you with or #2) don't know if they have proof you used it for anything other than 'crafts'

For this reason they don't need the product just your CC receipt ,debit card, Money order, what have you.They can't get you for possession but they can get you for purchasing a controlled substance .Sometimes when they do a round up they go back and bust everyone still falling inside the statute. I'm not a lawyer but I am married to one!

For this reason they don't need the product just your CC receipt ,debit card, Money order, what have you.They can't get you for possession but they can get you for purchasing a controlled substance .Sometimes when they do a round up they go back and bust everyone still falling inside the statute. I know that an illegal substance is illegal and I am speaking on behalf of my art professor and friend who bought a whole slew of PPs for a Turkish wedding tapestry. I mean I can see if they can say "well we have your receipts and proof of purchase....we don't know where they are but we KNOW YOU DID NOT use them for crafting or art...so you got to come with us". I know they COULD open a case but I mean realy without actual proof they were used illegally why would they even bother with that. I mean their is a certain OTC product you CAN get busted for b/c it has abuse potential but they don't arrest people buying that unless they have evidence w/o a doubt it is or was used for illicit activity.

oh yeah and I forgot to add: I did talk to a local trooper, and he said while he dosent know specifically of this issue he does know that PPs are a grey area in which its illegal-legal depending on 'intent', but when made into art it would be overlooked...kinda of like fireworks . You cant have them but unless you are a jerk about it no body is going to bother.
