Russia launches 18 cruise missiles at IS, 600 killed.

The Russians aren't messing. In 48 days they had already done nearly 5000 air strikes, not far from double what the U.S. and UK had dropped in 15months! I think them supporting Assad is also a wise move in all this, rather than further destabilising more governments in the Middle East.
 
Yeah the russians are actually doing what the US and UK claim to have been doing, and doing it with typical russian style deliberation and effort.

USA & UK too worried about blowing up the terrorist nutters theyve trained up to try and oust assad.

Sad to see death and destruction going on but lets hope it acheives something.
 
Putin doesn't really have a choice, he inherited the impact of the USSR on the Caucasus regions - he needs a public Muslim ally in order to appease the vast hatred of Russia's past across the entirety of Central Asia. Geopolitics and war go hand in hand.

I assume Sprouts referring to when Russia got its ass handed to them when they rocked up in Afghanistan a fair while back.

I'm sure I read somewhere that they literally just abandoned the whole idea and left vast amounts of weapons, ammunition and vehicles.. Although, isn't that pretty standard, sure I also read that it's quite common for the forces to leave stuff behind as the cost of bringing equipment back is more than buying it all again..

Wars probably one of the most profitable industries going, really sad. I've been reading a bit about psychopaths/sociopaths, the loner murdering with a blunt instrument type and the high functioning CEOs of FTSE companies. Can you imagine the board meetings at say, BAE, the chief exec screwing at the sales executive because the share holders aren't happy..

"We've sold 20% less cruise missiles this quarter, Charlie..! Get Gaddafi on the phone, tell him if he buys 3 items he gets the cheapest item for free"

Russias exploits in Afghanistan were in the '80s. They did indeed leave a lot of stuff behind but then again so did us and the yanks supporting the mudjahiadin.... including loads of stinger missiles which thankfully wouldn't work today due to battery life.

Surprising how little we learned from that and proceeded to do exactly the same 13 years we were over there and achieved fuck all.

Mad or not I'm glad some ones taking it to em! About fuckin time they really get hammered instead of all the pussyfooting the u.s and allies have been doing. There's gotta be a price to pay for Paris.
