Looks like it's finally dawning on the thick cunts that failing to properly define 'psychoactive' in the context of the NPS bill is liable to cause significant problems in the future. Now I'm no lawyer, politician, or scientist, but this was glaringly fuckin obvious from the outset was it not?

Also, I wonder why they are choosing to exempt poppers from the legislation? I can't see any reason why that nasty headache inducing shite shouldn't be covered by the bill - or am I missing something? Maybe it's popular with inbred Tory fuckwits at their pig fucking parties...

The level of ignorance displayed in this article would be laughable if it wasn't so tragic. E.g.

"Iversen, the chairman of the home secretary's advisory council on the misuse of drugs (ACMD), said these untested legal highs were no longer "a nice set of party drugs that we can let people get on with"."

Er, when have we ever had a 'nice set of party drugs' available that they've 'let us get on with'?

Furthermore:

"He (Iverson) said they were particularly worried about the impact of a synthetic drug that is becoming widely available in Britain that imitates the hallucinogenic effects of LSD, which once fuelled the 1960s psychedelic era but has been out of popularity for more than 30 years."

So LSD is no longer popular then? So why would anyone bother producing legal analogues of a drug that no-one wants?

I'm sorry, but I'd be extremely surprised if any scientist was capable of coming out with that much bullshit, never mind the chairman of the ACMD. What the fuck is 'synthetic' LSD? This implies that LSD isn't synthetic. And to state that analytical scales are not capable of measuring micrograms is just not true. What the fuck are microgram scales then?

I despair at the levels of sheer ignorance constantly being shat out by everyone in positions of power and influence such as the media, governments and so called 'experts'

If this legislation does come in within the next six month it's going to be full of holes.

They should have simply used the medicine act to make all psychoactive chemicals sold as legal highs to be otc at the pharmacy! You'd then have health professionals dishing them out instead of dumb shop stuff! How hard would this have been? Wouldn't have made good media though!

Here's how well we're doing controlling drugs deaths. The strategy that works, according to Cameron. 2013 stats -

2,955 drug poisoning deaths (involving both legal and illegal drugs) were registered in 2013 in England and Wales (2,032 male and 923 female deaths).

Male drug poisoning deaths increased by 19% compared with 2012. Female drug poisoning deaths have increased every year since 2009.

Male drug misuse deaths (involving illegal drugs) increased by 23%, from 1,177 in 2012 to 1,444 in 2013. Female drug misuse deaths increased by 12%, from 459 in 2012 to 513 in 2013.

Although the increases may be a little telling in regards to policy success, I'm very surprised at how low the numbers actually are.
 
One could argue it is their lack of willingness to adopt any kind of sensible Drug related policies, that has caused the figure of drug deaths to rise.

Look at the number of deaths from PMMA in the last few years. It's a lot more common than it ever was before. Heroin cut with fent? Also a relatively new phenomenon. Legal highs? They don't even understand their own policy. Just a few examples but all of these could easily be fixed by adopting a more realistic approach of people are going to do mind altering substances anyway be it alcohol or ecstasy, let's protect them. The current government are only interested in preserving the status quo of the rich though.
 
The media furore & knee jerk politicising of drugs use is not statistically represented by the harms caused by drugs shock horror you say?

That's because the drugs war in the UK is an already lost moral crusade & has nothing to do with reducing harm & everything to do with the maintainance of the UK white-boy, upper class hegemony exemplified by pig fucking prime ministers & lead by our paedophile queen & a shit ton of perverted, greedy or just plain dense lackies.

Why is the UK slipping so far behind the drugs liberalistion politic sweeping the world? One word. MONARCHY! Queens too old to be taught new tricks!
 
how could they let us have mind expanding drugs that may make people think and not just be dumbed down by that shit alcohol and presrciption crap. Cant have their backers like the big alcohol and drug companies losing profits could we. What would they do then.

Funnily enough, I was thinking about Citizen Smith only t'other day when people were up in arms about the amendments to the site rules.
I was going to propose a people's uprising and in tribute to Wolfie Smith we would adopt the name 'The Tooting Popular Front' which is quite apt considering our recreational pastimes. Also, I would be your leader and be known as 'Citizen Spliff'.


Then we'd steal a tank and cruise through the countryside looking cool as fuck with 'Here comes the sun' blasting out of a PA system.

No doubt many of you reading this are thinking 'what the fuck is that daft old cunt waffling on about now?'

Have to say I agee. Except it's not just monarchy. People get so wrapped up in drugs being an illegal commodity they forget that it's still big business, and at the top of big businesses in the UK there tends to be a morally corrupt (that's if not all of them are) member of the bourgouisie, who totally oppose handing any power or control back to the lower classes. What else would legalising drugs be doing?

While you're correct by saying that our Monarchy are instrumental in preventing drug policy reforms in this country, the reasons are far more sinister than simply being resistant to change. In reality, our alien lords and masters are concerned that in the pursuit of novel psychoactive substances with increasingly ridiculous names, someone may stumble upon a compound which will counteract the effects of the hallucinogens they constantly pump into our water supply to prevent us seeing the Monarchy in their true reptilian form. FACT!
