Please excuse my ignorance, but I'm not interested in fancy flavourings, just nicotine. Does this come in a liquid concentrate form as well?
I bought a cheapo one a while back and it's ok but not great, I can get a decent nicotine hit off of it though. For some reason I find the vapour more harsh than an actual cigarette? I also have this problem with my weed vaporiser, but I've tried higher quality nicotine ones my mates have bought and not had the same harshness, so I don't know. I hardly smoke cigarettes anyway but I do like to when I'm out at the pub or when I'm tripping, which is infrequent enough to make baccy go dry in between uses, so I think a vape is actually a pretty good solution for me, irrespective of the health gains or losses.

FUBAR you can buy 52mg/ml base liquid for diluting down when mixing your own stuff. I use 10ml of that per 100ml of liquid giving 5.2mg/ml nicotine content.
I started vaping 8 months ago. I was a pack a day (at least) for a 1/4 century. i feel like a new man now. Still cough up bits of grey goo now and again, but it's slowing down. I've found if you use your device within it's voltage and wattage parameters you never get a dry hit. Dry hit being wicking burning because your coil is too hot/dirty.
The studies showing harmful chems or particles are actually burning the coils/wicking IMO. Other studies show that an exhalation of ecig vapor is akin to normal room air.
Funny how big tobacco in the US are buying up the ecig companies or starting their own.
In Canada vaping is being treated like smoking almost everywhere. Banned in public places.. blah blah blah..
Enjoy it now, the sin tax is coming, and it's going to hurt.

You can get tobacco flavours. Without any flavours, it won't taste of much, and you'd probably quickly lose interest in it.
OTW: Are you speaking from (non-) experience, again? Nicotine is poisonous, if you consume enough, but I've had the liquid on my hands and even in my mouth, when I've had a shit e-cig and it's never made me feel ill. If it was absolutely pure nicotine liquid, then it'd cause problems.

what is the recommended ratio of pg to vg? 80% to 20%? Also could you PM me any good sources of nicotine powder and flavourings if posting them publically would in some way break the BL rules. If you get the chance it would be much appreciated. I once tried buying extra strong 24mg nicotine juices and then diluting them with 20-25% pg, but that did not work very well, ive since found out that the taste is the same as the juices you can get from corner shops, ie they must be stingy on the flavorings or using too much pg.
Fubar i would wholeheartedely recommend the Aspire Nautilus mini tank with a Mini Eleaf battery (£45 quid the lot) and both will last for ages, mine are 6 months old and still going strong. The battery is variable voltage from 3.4v to 5v, i use around 4 volt, higher voltage means more vapour and nicotine in each inhalation, but in the light of 'that study' i might try to keep the Vs down, although it doesnt feel "hot".
They look pretty cool too imo and will easily fit in your jacket pocket, especially if you don't use a collar which probably isnt really necessary (see next paragraph if interested)
The only thing that can go is the thread so i've bought a collar for £1 or £2 that sits in between the tank and the battery, meaning i wont have to keep on unscrewing and screwing the tank back into the battery every time it needs refilling. The threads on these things can be a bit soft. But seems to be less of an issue since i switched to the eleaf from the long and thin cylindrical batteries which are on their way out apparently, due to the greater charge and longevity of the newer generation of batteries. Plus you don't need to unscrew anything to charge these, there's a usb socket on the battery, rather than using a screw in charger like the older cylindrical batteries did.The wicks are £2 each and will need replacing anything from 1 day - 1 month depending on a variety of things. Even premium juices are cheap; £10 for 3 x 10 ml containers which will easily last a week. I'm easily saving at least a £100 a month on tobacco costs i guestimate.
Imo you wanna avoid the tanks with built in wicks at the top. All 'wicks at the top' tanks are very prone to burning out really quickly which isnt funny at £7 a time. You can get 'top down' tanks with replacable wicks, so you just have to pay £2 to replace the wick, But they still have the short wick life span problem imo. Wicks at the bottom of the tank last longer mainly cos they are constantly saturated. It's best to let a new wick to soak up the juice for 30 mins after replacing it, before you start vapeing for a longer wick life. Although you can 'cheat' a bit with the Nautilus wicks and squeeze a couple of drops of juice into the open top of the wick before you fit it, and then it will start soaking in from the bottom up too.

i use a rebuildable atomiser, so its made of basically some wire (3 quid for 10metres) and cotton wool (boots, 2 quid) - this lasts a couple of weeks at least. for each build. Maybe 20cm of wire + a cotton wool ball, to rebuild. Ultra low cost. One of my main aim with vaping has been to avoid any consumable type stuff that requires too regular purchase.
That site also has the nicotine base liquid you can use to dilute with pg / vg.
I use a 60 / 40 pg / vg ratio, so for 100ml, i will pour 40ml of vg into the glass measuring cylinder, add 10ml of 52mg/ml nicotine in pg, then add 40ml of pg, leaving 10ml of water based flavouring to add. This gives 100ml of 5.2mg/ml strength nicotine flavoured liquid, for a few quid cost.
Initial outlay on the device + the wire + cotton + pg + vg + nicotine base, + flavourings, it basically means spend a bit of cash at first but then you have months of vaping liquid and supplies, a range of flavours, and it works out cheap as chips.

I've seen the youtube tutorials on wick making for the Nautilus, it looks like one of those tasks that require a LOT of calm and patience, it seems to take even very experienced and well practiced people half an hour to 'build' one wick, unless they were just going extra slow for the sake of making the steps easier to follow, i cant recall but i think one of youtube guys said that it takes him half an hour to make one wick.
So unless i would enjoy the process of making them which im not sure that i would, i dont think i'd bother. I'll almost certainly try making my own juice using a method like the one you described though. I believe that tobacco is currently taxed at around 70% in the UK. If the Tories decide to tax e-cigs that heavily it will give people one less major incentive to switch. I can only hope that they won't go too OTT in their greed for raking in tax anyhow they can, (unless you happen to be a major corporation or a 'non-dom' billionaire in which case you can often avoid paying any tax completely
.) There'll be a lot of stockpiling going on before this happens, but I agree with you that it's only a matter of time. It might happen in the Budget next April, if not before.

I really dunno about that, they might tax the biggest UK companies which would be relatively easy to do, but that would be unfair on them, and give the the small scale ebayers, market stall types or independent brands which may only have one store, or some may have a growing chain of stores, like Tablites, these outfits would get a huge anti-competitive boost.
You're right in that there's so many sources, distributors, outlets and independents and 'make your own' options that it might be very difficult to enforce heavy taxation on it. People would find loopholes, such as the methods you use, and there would inevitably be a huge 'black market' opening up.
I mean they can't start taxing vegetable glycerine, pg, cotton wool and wire at 70% because some people might use them to make e-cig parts or juices surely. There is surely already VAT of 20% on ecig products. With any luck they will settle for that, and not completely fuck up the market by sticking their greedy oars in.

Many more people than are already doing so would just import the products from companies like that or any low tax country if they did try to impose a 70% tax hike on the UK outlets. The products can be very easily sent in the mail, so I'm tending to agree with you now rather than Shain77.

There has been a massive spike in hospital admissions over the past few years due to exposure to nicotine liquid, particularly small children. You need around a tablespoon to kill an adult, which is unlikely, but even prolonged exposure to you skin can have serious cardiovascular side effects as well as nausea and headaches.
