....needless to say, I'm interested. In the video I saw (people's reactions to VR porn, not the porn itself) things got trippy, though... like, they had a dude with the headset on enjoying some male-on-female action from the guy's perspective, right? Next thing you know, they switched scenes and switched genders, so dudes were watching from the woman's perspective and started trippin' out.

The women actually started reaching out and trying to grab imaginary dicks, it was pretty funny.

I dunno, I think I could have a lot of fun with some psychedelics and a good VR headset.

The only game I play now is Counter Strike: Global Offensive (csgo). I've played different MMO/RPG's, FPS's, MOBA's, RTS's, etc, for a long time, but a few months ago my brother convinced me to get csgo and these past months I've quit every other game and only play this one now. My poor Xbox one is sitting idle now. Counter Strike is one of my favorite games ever :D
 
Still waiting on getting my regular comp working & more so on getting a new one.
Finally will be able to do so & can't wait, will be a while still but will be great.
Going from a 10-15 year old machine to a top of the line gaming system...
Probably the closest thing to joy I'll ever experience outside of substance use.

Anyways as for currently playing...
Still going old school for now, Master of Magic, Dungeon Keeper, X-Com, etc.
 
careful to pick components by the value they offer not just whatever is top-of-the-line or most expensive. buying the latest tech is kind of a sucker's game just because the next piece of greatest tech is always mere months away. personally, i've found better value sticking to mid-range components and overclocking them but overclocking can add a whole new set of expenditures to the process so it's not always the best value and it takes a bit of passion to get through the times when it isn't.

i've been playing Trine 2 lately since it was on sale. The first Trine was kind of short so I really didn't want to buy Trine 2 at full price but I'm glad to say the story is awesome and has been soaking up a good amount of time so yeah worth it!

I'm on the lookout now for good RPGs to play since I'm trying to convince a mate to help create a game and an RPG seems to be the only sort of game that we could actually pull off and possibly make decent in light of our limited resources.

Like, new RPGs?

Allow me to recommend The Witcher 3, if you haven't already checked it out.

Mount and Blade: Warband is pretty awesome, too, I just found it on Steam a week or two ago. It's basically RPG.... but there's a good amount of strategy involved too. Fairly old, though.
 
yea Warband is great! It's a shame With Fire & Sword was so rough around the edges, I've been a fan of the franchise since the original M&B and slashing up some Sea Raiders never seems to get old. Witcher 3 looks like fun but way too high-spec graphically to be much use as source material, with two devs and an artist I'll be very happy if we can pull off just something simple that is reminiscent of old 16-bit stuff (eg. Chrono Trigger, Zelda).

Problem is that back in the day when 16-bit was king, a dozen pixels would fill up a whole screen and now everything is crazy high-res so that raises the bar significantly because now simple sprites demand a much higher level of detail and an actual artist as opposed to just being able to strap four pixels together and call it a cross. Even the most basic, unsophisticated game now has to deliver a certain standard or it'll be a tough sell in a saturated market

Really? RPGs seem to me like some of the most resource-intensive games to develop, since they usually involve a lot of artwork, dialogue writing, soundtrack composition, etc. Then again, the game engine logic itself would be pretty simple - no fancy physics math necessary.

I say make whatever kind of game you love to play.
 
ah you're right. i guess RPG can be a misleading label, i was thinking more of a 2D game in general which doesn't require the modelling work of a 3D game. from a technical perspective, there's not a whole lot of difference between programming the mechanics for something like GTA 2 and the mechanics for a Zelda game. as long as the mechanics aren't buggy and there's some kind of plot and maps we have something that can be demoed and maybe that will be enough to crowdsource some funding to get help from people who can hash out a proper storyline and art, music, etc..

It's not identical but very similar, so I'd recommend you check out Mount and Blade: Warband.




I've been playing this god damn game for months now, lol. You know it's getting bad when you log 200+ hours in roughly 2 months....




Fuck, though, i'd recommend the shit to pretty much anybody. Fuckin' game's like a black hole, man, it just sucks you right in.
 
Steam game list is so backlogged for me need to play more. Right now im focusing on Pillars of Eternity but i play Starcraft and Starcraft II in between they are like a constant.
 
I own a ps4 but ive recently taken my place among the PC master race again. been playing a cool sci-fi point and click horror game on steam called stasis and I just downloaded SOMA can't wait to try it out!
 
Ever since I quit EvE i've been getting random pangs of memories about the good times but as with all MMOs there's a lot of boring times too :\ I was hoping World of Warships might be good but apparently it's too arcadey which kills my interest. Lately I've been playing Europa Universalis IV (EUIV), I really love the attention to detail and have since uninstalled Civ V because it takes up way more space than EUIV but isn't nearly as awesome. I remember EUIV started out pretty rough and buggy but the dev team really deserves kudos for effectively patching up every little niggling issue with both UI and gameplay. As far as RTS goes I've been waiting a looong time for one as good as EUIV, but am a little bit disappointed that there's no option to micromanage the combat units so it lacks the tactical elements that Civ V was good for.

I can't get into Europa Universalis but I fucking LOVE Crusader Kings II.

Crusader Kings 2 is played on the same map, I think, but it's back in the times of (you guessed it) the Crusades and you control a single character's lineage (once your character dies, you take over as his heir) and try to snuff out all the others and all that good shit.


You can export your CK2 saved game and then import it to Europa Universalis IV to continue playing on your own map.



When I did that I started out with a county in Ireland, ended up ruling a Great Britain that extended into Iceland, Africa and halfway across mainland Europe at the very start of my Europa Universalis game, lol. I just couldn't get the hang of EU4 after playing Crusader Kings for so long, though.
 
cool, i didn't realize there were other games using the same engine as EUIV but i guess that does explain why it feels so polished. so if crusader kings covers the dark ages and EUIV covers the renaissance and enlightenment (game ends in 1821) then maybe they're working on a game that covers the modern era too?
 
coulllllld be, I haven't really looked into it. I moved on from that game a year or so ago and haven't renewed any interest yet.
