Feeling ill after taking Percocet?

I've had multiple surgeries due to injuries that occurred in the military and have been exposed to numerous pain medications and never had a problem with any of them. I recently had surgery and was prescribed Percocet 5/325. I currently take anywhere from 2 to 3 at a time once a day. I was taking 1 pill twice a day every day for approximately two months after surgery and then stopped for a while and then started again taking 2 to 3 pills at a time around 3 times per week. Every time I take them I start to feel anxious on edge jumpy and have an overall sick feeling. Has anybody had any kind of experiences with that kind of curious to why it's not making me feel better, it takes away the pain but I feel like shit. I also take 3 mg of Klonopin a day. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Are you taking them on an empty stomach? I totally understand that crappy feeling opiates can sometimes give. Funny you say you take klonopin...because when I feel the "bad" side effects from my percoset...usually 1-2 mg of Etizolam usually helps and food.

I would back down your dosage to one pill, two if one doesn't do the trick. Be sure to eat before taking it. Lying down and keeping your eyes closed can help with dizziness and nausea.

That's pretty normal. Try either taking less, taking them with food, or talk to your doctor. Good luck. Be careful taking an opiate with a benzo.

I get really sick on percoet(oxycodone). Hydrocodne is a lot easier on the stomach and less intense. Ask your doc if you can switch.

If it isn't bothering u to much, then I would stick with Percocet. Much better for pain. But you have to find the right dose. Maybe eat a little before.

I always take them with food, never on an empty stomach. Do you think it's too much on the Liver with the benzos

Thanks for all the input, with my dosage of 3 mg of Klonopin daily and the 2-3 5/325 3 to 4 times a week do you think it's too much for my liver? Kind of paranoid, my apologies.

opiates can cause a sick feeling like you describe, especially oxycodone. i doubt it has anything to do with your liver; benzos are not really associated with hepatotoxicity and 650 - 975mgs of apap is well under the max dose. but 15mgs of oxy is a bit. like others are saying, try taking less.

thanks for your help, I just am not getting the relieve from 5 to 10 mgs of the Percs. I just never felt this way before as I was on hydromorphone and MS Contin 30 mgs and am aware of the 4000 mgs of apap limit. Just didn't know of the klonopin had anything to do with it. Thank for the help man.

A "side-effect" of most benzos is anti-nausea effects. That being said, I highly doubt the idea that the klonopin could've contributed to the nausea.
I also find it strange that with 3 mg of knlonopin a day, you become edgy and anxious after taking only 10-15 mg of oxycodone. Quite the anomaly.

Thanks for for the input Switch I have PTSD so that could be factor with the anxious feeling, I don't get any nausea but just an overall ill feeling.

Are you taking any antacids? Some antacids like cimetidine can alter the metabolic process of both drugs. Don't worry about your liver that is highly unlikely unless you had other symptoms that would suggest a liver problem I wouldn't worry about it.

No antacids, thanks again. I will talk to my PM Doc to seek a possible alternative. The VA won't prescribe me Benzos and Percocet so they send me to a civilian pain management DR because I had to wait for8 months to see a VA doc so the civilian DR prescribes me Percocet. The VA is a joke!
