hey bluelight!

My name is Lavender or Lav, whatever you want. I'm diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder (clinically, I'm not being hyperbolic, nothing annoys me more than 'tee hee I'm so OCD I alphabetize my books!), and I like forms, so I'm going to follow the NMI guidelines by bullet point because I'm really nervous and order soothes me.
  • A nice hello - greet others as you would like to be greeted.
  • Tell us the reason that you came to Bluelight. This helps the staff and members when making suggestions as to which forums may be of interest to you. Do this even if you have already visited some forums.
  • Include other interests that you have, such as being a student, interest in films, video games, meeting other bluelighters, etc.
  • DON'T ASK HOW TO SCORE DRUGS!
  • Don't ask specifics about certain drugs, events, or what have you. If you are looking for information regarding specific drugs, events, etc., we will point you to the correct forum where your question can be asked. We strongly advise that you use the search engine and read the forum's rules and guidelines prior to making your post!
1. Covered above. :)
2. I'm here for harm reduction, primarily. I have family and friends who use, and while I'm not an addict, I do use occasionally myself, and my goal is to keep myself and my loved ones as safe as possible. "Don't do drugs" is all well and good, but in the meantime, learning harm reduction is more realistic and, in my personal opinion, more of a net positive than the abstinence model. I'm here because I want to reduce harm as much as I can. My other reason is that I have multiple severe chronic pain conditions, and due to the...shall we say inability on the parts of my doctors to adequately manage my pain due to seas of red tape and the...interesting legal status of substances in my country, I've had to get a bit creative.
3. Other interests include music, theater, writing, and all sorts of arts, as well as language and psychology and sociology and disability advocacy and human gender and sexuality. I'm also a huge geek.
4. I'm hereby not asking how to score drugs, and assuring that I won't in the future. :P
5. And if I have specific questions, I will go to the appropriate lengths to find the answers on my own, and if I can't I'll post questions in the appropriate places.

And I think that covers it for now. Questions, comments, concerns?

love, lav

Yea ,its simple. You holler at them jist say, yo smoky and lavender, what it do yo?? See now i b talkin to both of yal.

Or u can look at the bottom right hand side of the persons reply, and click the symbol that looks like a sheet of paper behind another sheet of paper, click it once and you can keep doing that to each respond that yur trying to quote, next scroll to the very bottom and on the left hand side click [Post Reply], it will then take you to a page where all the times you clicked that symbol of the papers will all appear there, just make sure you click the [Post Reply] after you select replys that you want to quote.

Oh and welcome,

...I'm disabled, can't work, can barely stand up about 60% of the time, and the world isn't kind to people like me. Like when I'm on the bus, with my cane, and nobody bothers to offer me a seat, or they flat-out glare at me when I take one or don't give it up for someone older. When places have lots of stairs but no elevators. Those are some of the tangible problems I work on. I try to advocate and raise awareness (when I can), because it directly impacts me. (Also, the pathetically low limit for government aid. It's next to impossible to actually live off disability.)

I'm pretty sure they make cheese with lavender in it, but I'm actually allergic to lavender (heh) and so I wouldn't know.

And thanks again for the welcome!

Loved your intro!

Intrusive thoughts is the technical term, but you can totally ask. :3 Mine mostly center around contamination, evenness and catastrophe.

Hi Lavender. Welcome to bluelight. My name is socko. I'm a neuroscientist, and I work in a lab at Sorbonne in Paris, France. I'm curious about your intrusive thoughts about contamination. Could you give some examples please? Do you worry about things like deadly bacteria in canned food? Or is it something completely different like chlorine in water? Or somethign else? I'm extremely germophobic myself and avoid certain public places because of that. For example, I cannot ride the Metro (subway) here. And that's bad for me because everybody rides the metro.

Certainly! :) it's less germs for me and more rot/spoil--I can't eat things in closed containers that have touched other things in closed containers that have gone off, for example. I can't eat cold cheese, and I'm nervous about food in general because I get phantom tastes of rot/sourness even if the food is perfectly fine. I also hate hate HATE everything to do with zombies...lol.

Props, lavendermew...Love the way you respond the (aheheh) posts. SWOOSH...right over top! =D Gold sticker indeed.

I never knew my OCD was a problem...until my husband asked how many more times did I plan to wipe down the counter tops? I am a clean freak (confessed) and bad smells drive me nuts! I've always felt that the only thing I can "control" is my home environment.

I have always obsessed with order, organization, solutions to problems. I see a house that needs cleaning. My husband says it looks like a magazine shoot. He gets frustrated with my "to do" and "punch" lists. He's even said "I don't give a shit about this stuff. I just care about you!"...as he sucks the ketchup from his fingers...God help me, finger licking/sucking skeeves me to my core!

TMI totally, but I never lick my fingers...EVER. I have a long history of hemorrhoids with 2 surgeries. I have to insert HC supps with finger condoms twice daily to calm the fire in the hole :X I told you it was TMI...Even though I am a neurotic hand-washer, I know where my finger has been. Huge deterrent no matter how melty the Twix gets...wet nap!

Your avatar is spot on! =D Spots bring much joy to our lives. Mine are Dalmatians, although we lost one to sudden death on 7/27. We are devastated, as is her sissy Dal. A little stray black/white kitty came round, which I'm feeding. She's such a sweetheart...a great lap kitty. She is helping to mend our broken hearts.

Hope to be more type-ative with you. I love good conversation and a dark sense of humor sustains me.

Oh, man, mouth sounds drive me CRAZY. Like nails on a chalkboard. Chewing, slurping, sucking...euuuuugh. *cringe*

I'm so overwhelmed by the sheer amount of clutter in my environment (I live with a pre-hoarder+my chronic illness makes it really hard to clean for more than a few minutes at a time) that I just...leave it. It's too much to finish in one go, but if I start something, I HAVE to finish it. And I kind of have a similar revulsion to your finger thing with feet, although I've always had it and there's no explanation...I just get the urge to bleach everything anyone's bare foot has come in contact with, and Heaven help you if you touch my feet or touch me with yours!

I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. My icon is just a stock photo, but I did have two cats a few years ago I had to rehome, which isn't really the same, but I do miss them a lot. :(
