Why doesn't our brain feel how it does on MDMA...all of the time?

I find myself asking this question all of the time, especially when I'm depressed.

My first experience with ecstasy was still to this day, one of the best nights of my life. As well as the months that followed, every roll, as mind blowing, euphoric, surreal, theraputic as the last.

It's been around 4 years since I dabbled with the substance and I still vivildy remember the night, the time, the venue, the artists that were playing, the exact spot I was standing in the parking lot, in the rain, on a cold California night, when after two hours of tapping my friends on the shoulder, saying "I don't think it's working.." "I'm pretty sure I don't feel anything.." "Did they sell us laundry detergent?" and then BOOOM! I remember the sprinkles of rain outside, suddenly coming down hard, and I was absolutely floored. I've never felt that amount of pure bliss and euphoria. I've never felt so much love for my friends and every single person around me. I've never stayed up for 6 hours, sitting in a car at a park, talking and talking, chain smoking cigarettes and getting lost in trance till sunrise.

Till this day, I ask myself, if our brain is capable of producing that feeling, why aren't our brains designed to operate like that all of the time?

There would be no war, no crime, everyone's relationship would be perfect, we would all have endless love for one another..the list goes on.

What are your thoughts?

Well in my opinion rolling makes life the way its meant to be. If we were all naturally rolling the world would be a better place, but if you think about it, feeling that good on that level all the time is just not possible, your soul might explode with a positive overload. We need negatives to recognize and/or appreciate the positives.

Just my OPINION.

I believe that certain holymen can achieve this state after years and years of meditation and spiritual development. I knew a man who I believe had reached this state, and he claimed he could go way further out there than anyone who was using drugs to get to the same place.

Our brain already does produce that feeling. When you are in love and look at your loved person, when you are with friends laughing at a joke, when you have an orgasm. The thing is that the brain knows that that substance, what makes us happy, is so precious and hard to be produced, that only gets releases in very small amounts. The MD just remove the barriers, and flood your brain with the substance. You can't chase that high, your brain would not be able to cope with all that.

Just try to learn to be a little happy every day, and you'll release small amounts of serotonin, which will make you feel better. Enjoy the little things in life :)
