about finished with this world
right so which provider are you lot using ? if you don't mind me asking as i am going to have to get hooked up at some point other the next week or two

ive googled a few deals so far but guess it better just to ask you lot as that way i can get better picture of how they work in the real world

yeah ive had a look at a site like that but guess a better idea was to ask you lot of your experiences with networks in the real world

anyway i will check back in later as ive got to get out this bloody pub cant stand the place any longer at the minute :)

Virgin Media cable, if your area is cabled, usually the fastest & most reliable home connection. Otherwise check with samknows, see if you can get fibre from sky or something. Mobile dongles are really just for mobile or temporary use, could be slow or unreliable, it's going to depend how strong that provider's signal is in your area, how many other people are using it, etc, make sure they check you can get a signal in the shop before you buy.

I love Virgin media cable. I'm just gutted that we don't have it here. My ex had it n it was ace. Ye didn't need a phone to use Internet n ye could change your number straight away without having it affect the Internet. When I tried to change my number once with ASDL it too TWO pigging weeks to re-connect to it again.

Look at Sky Dugital, virgin cable / ADSL, plus net, BT.

Please try not to go with just cheap you need to look at the quality. There's no point you paying for a cheap broadband that cuts connection every five minutes. You tend to listen to a lot of music n YouTube videos, don't you?! You need a fast, good quality connection.

So when you Google please look for both good quality n price. Show us what you find if you want n we could maybe advise you. Who were you with before? Could you not go with them again? Or were they dear? Not good quality?

3 do a dongle with unlimited for 15, without any start up costs or having to sign for any length of time

Actually, this is a bloody good option if you don't need several devices online at once. I was running off one of these for years and it's fast enough for streaming video and the 15 quid PAYG deal is truly unlimited. The dongle costs about £40, but I've seen them much cheaper in cash converters, cex, etc. The beauty is there's no commitment - if you're skint one month, don't top up. If I was single with no kids, I'd probably still be using one now...

Edit: just seen what Dr.Green thumb said above - yes, it depends upon mobile signal, but with a good signal the quality/speed can rival other systems. I NEVER had any issues with 3 in 3 years with a dongle.

Mobile is definitely an OK temporary solution, depending on your signal, or if you need something pay as you go. It can't compete with the best fixed lines though.

The 4g on my phone blows away my home broadband connection. Sometimes I even tether my laptop to my phone to take advantage of the crazy speeds (yo).

I'm paying £40 a month for 700GB, I'm not sure if that's shit or not but the only other options here are places with sketchy looking websites that cut data prices after 12am or summat. Cheers KC.

Dongle/phone probably best option, I get 8gb on my phone for £20 a month with all the other data too, am with Tesco mobile and my phone holds up well enough for me to play WoW, watch videos and generally do net stuff for around six or seven 12 hour shifts and leaves me with about five gig or so at the end of the month. No connection problems really. I had a rolling one month contract with Orange for a dongle (fuck Orange tho) when I was in a flat for a few months a couple summers back which worked out well price-wise too.

Goldilocks: go for Plus Net, it's a no-brainer.

https://www.plus.net/home-broadband/

I've been a happy customer of theirs for 12 years. They've always got good deals on, they give great support, and they give you money off if you refer someone else. I pretty much get free broadband thanks to their referral scheme.

Please use my name if you sign up with them. PM me for that. ;)

If you do, I'll buy you a beer or get koneko to send you a bandana for Charlie. <3

I mentioned Plus net as he's in that area. My mate Craig is with them, has been with them years n never had an issue.

BT infinity have got some cracking deals atm. I get unlimited internet at 80 Mbits/S download speed (claimed - which never reflects reality) plus BT sports (which admittedly I never use) plus free weekend calls, and includes line rental. When I took mine out in March this year I got a free sainsburys gift card topped up with £125 (which kept me in vodka and baccy for a good fortnight). I believe they are now offering a 50% discount.

My line's so shit that fibre would only give me around 8mb.

Need cable...

If your line is shit you should complain to your ISP, if you haven't already.

We are all paying approx. £15 a month line rental to BT (via our ISPs) for them to keep our telephone lines in good order. That is their responsibility and if there is a problem, keep complaining until they sort it out, or threaten to switch ISP.
