youre v lucky to get an app this late in the day for the same day. Ringing up in the morning for a same day appointment is standard. appointments booked in advance with a doctor arent normally available for 14 days plus ime.
When i ring up for a same day app for my dad or sis Im normally 8th in the queue too, so it involves waiting 20 minutes on hold. Imagine if youre piss poor and have a quid credit left and have to wait that long on hold.
Word of warning: its only going to get worse too. Most GPs are being asked to work 7 days a week now, and many practices have been forced to put a recruitment freeze on so cant aleviate (?) that by adding more docs to the practice. And theyre being pushed to do more small surgery procedures too.
Docs are starting to retire early because of the above as well. So practices are getting flogged all round.
Welcome to 2nd tory term. Im currently in the throws of complaining about misdiagnosis of one of my sisters ailments. My mum was at the same surgery and didnt even get her diagnosis for cancer before she died, and there were no excuses for it.
Wish I was on the ball back then like I am now.

Evey, I really wish you had the strength of mind to not give a fuck what random folk in a small town thought about you. It'd improve your life no end if you could exercise that from your psyche. I dont mean not give a fuck at all, just not give a fuck about what small minded cunts think about your mental state. Anyone's opinion worth caring about would have some compassion and see you as being responsible, and see you as taking measures to ensure youre trying to be at your optimum for taking care of yourself and your kid. Anyone else really isnt worth your time or wasting your mental energies on. Fuck em. And if they ever raised eyebrows at you, you'd have grounds to tell them what uncompassionate, ignorant twats they were.
In all truth, I bet none of them would raise an eyebrow at you getting help for yourself, its just you have high personal standards and youre probably beating yourself up out of guilt or because you yourself see it as a personal failing.
it's not misses. youre doing the right thing, and anyone with any sense of understanding and compassion will realise that
