4 month break enough for the magic to return?

So ive been using mdma about once a month for 2 years, when i first started it was just such a jaw dropping experience that left me more than satisfied. last 6 months or so i knew ive lost those feelings quite a bit, or the "magic" so to say. id just find myself getting bored at times while high, and it just felt all too familiar and not as magical.. Well im pretty sure ive really lost the magic after this big week i had, rolled 3 nights in a row at a festival then one more time 4 days later, the last day was horrendes (but i think its hugely based on the fact i was dehydrated and exausted aswell) luckily though, magic is my only issue here with such irresponsible use! i plan on waiting until halloween to do M again, will that be long enough to regain total amazingness i use to get from the drug? Im hoping for others that have had similar waiting times and how it benefited you? Thanks!

I never regained the magic, no matter how long I waited. What did happen is that my tolerance went way down and it took a lot less for me to feel effects. I definitely got high, but it was more of a messed up altered state with none of the hallmark loved up feelings of amazingness that can make MDMA special. I spent years chasing the magic, but the last time I tried MDMA I didn't enjoy it and just wanted it to be over. I don't have any plans to try it again.

thedea.org website (not related to the actual DEA) is one of the best MDMA websites I've seen, and it says that consensus among users is that after using 30 to 40 times using MDMA that much of the magic is gone. That corresponds with my own experience which has also been shared with a lot of the group I used to use with. It seems MDMA has a limited shelf life and the pleasure return slowly diminishes over time so that most users naturally quit using. There are exceptions, but if you've used 24 times and you fit the natural pattern then you can expect that the peak of your MDMA experiences is permanently over. It may be something that continues to be pleasant with an occasional glimmer of amazing, but once you feel bored on the drug it means it's no longer novel and that's part of the magic that you probably will never get back.

not in my experience I used mdma about thirty times in six months, six months wasnt enough for me, only way to know is try it, just remember if you try it again, your going to have an even longer break to get it back...

Patience is key I'm guessing itll take two years up and to four or five-and thats just a guess for the average person from my own experience and the only way is test for yourself.

I did get the magic back though eventually after a long long break of thirteen years 8o:)

Some people report that using piracetam (a nootropic) can help bring the magic back (source: www.rollsafe.org). If you are willing to experiment with that, it's something you can try

I only roll once every 3-6 months and every time is like the first, so hopefully waiting awhile will help in between for you to feel the affects again. I would be very disappointed if I couldn't get the same affect since that's the only thing I do.

After you waited the 4 or so months, even though you didn't get the magic back, did it feel better at all? Or was there almost a non existent change?

No, I didnt get it back after four months a break ,then trying again . I got a lil bit or something after the four month break- nothing worth saying though and wasnt even worth it. From my expirience empathogeon abuse takes a long time to recover from- for me and this is a theorized guess from my own experience (just remember everyones different) -two years minimum

once a week for two years for myself would be much too much. I think its a wise idea to do an empathogeons at a normal once every few months, that way you dont get used to the feeling, build tolerance, give brain time to return to homeostasis etc. It takes patience and discilpine-I know from previous expirience though- and this has taught me discipline and patience with these compounds

wise man once every six months could be better than every three months or better yet once a year. I think once every 2-3 months is the minimum time in between

same boat here only thing I do as well -well for the most part

I am in pretty much the same boat as you. I have used no more than once a month for about 2 years. Usually 2 months in between rolls. I always follow the pre and post supplementation guide. My SO has rolled with me following the same schedule/supplementation, but a few less times. We both lost the magic. For me, it still feels good, for her, it is so underwhelming she said she doesn't really care if we never do it again.

Most recently, we took a 3 and a half month break. It did nothing to return the magic.

We almost never re-dose

I have tried many things that people suggested might bring the magic back. My SO did none of these things, so while none of them helped, I doubt they interfered either

Here are some of the things that did not work for me:

1) NMDA antagonism. DXM and Memantine. (SIDE NOTE: never combine DXM with MDMA). For DXM, I tried taking 50mg 4 and 3 days before rolling. For Memantine, I did a 4 week course of it graudally increasing dosage. Also once tried taking it mid-roll

2) Piracetam and lots various nootropics. These were not purchased specifically to help bring the magic back. I use them regularly anyways. For Piracetam, I have tried taking a course of it (2 weeks, attack dose on day one, 2g/day thereafter) as well as pre loading with it on the day of rolling. During my most recent roll, about 30 minutes after peaking, I was underwhelmed and tried some noopept and nicotine gum to see if either would do anything. They didn't

3) Caffeine. Tried adding some caffeine at time of ingestion as well as drinking caffeinated beverages throughout

4) Selegiline (Deprenyl). Small doses only. At small doses it is an MAO-B inhibitor. Higher doses can also lose its selectivity and inhibit MAO-A and be dangerous to mix with MDMA. This one has mixed reviews. Some say it potentiates, some say it dulls. Mostly agreed to be neuro-protective so I added this as a pre-roll supplement. I never found this to have much effect either way. Just to be safe, I did not pre-load it this past time, and instead took it mid-roll. No noticeable difference

5) St john's wort, ashwagandha, and bacopa monnieri. Did a 3 week course of taking these at their recommended dosages.

6) Fish oil. I take this regularly but tried pre-loading with it as well

7) Varying dosages. Some say less is more. We have tried 125mg to 275mg doses and neither end of the spectrum anything to return the magic. All I can conclude is that taking big doses to try and chase the magic is a waste of the drug

I have probably tried some other stuff I am forgetting. The point is, I don't think there is any "magic" (har har) cure and you might have to wait more than 4 months

After a 2-3 month break we are going to try an Alladin flip, partly because we have never tried any kind of "flip" and partly to see if any of the old glorious magic returns with it. After that, we will be taking a 6+ (most likely a year+) break

blninja, have you tried changing your setting? For example, if you always take it indoors with just the both of you, have you tried going clubbing or to a rave/event or something?

It would be had you not abused it in the first place. Aim for a year and give it a go again.

We almost never re-dose

This is the issue IMO. I've had a fair few nights now where where I'm underwhelmed before a re-dose. But after a 40-60mg redose all the magic is well and truly there.

No. Thanks, we will eventually try both suggestions
