hello everyone well here is my situation i finally got what i wanted within reason from my shrink (10mg ambien and 3x .5 xanax a day) not exactly halcion and zee bars but the best an 18y/o can do. anyway my doc was hesitant to prescribe "this much xanax" what are the odds of me keeping this dose going for a while. saying something to the effect of "i think we finally have found the right combo for sleep and anxiety". thanks

Lol wow you and I have the exact same script for both Ambien and Xanax. It's okay for a month or so. If you're like me you will only want more in the long run. The Xanax stops working. It doesn't last long enough. I always run out early which is why I have had to resort to etizolam as well. I always thought if I got a Xanax script my life would be just swell. Now I'm thinking about trying to get on a longer lasting benzo because Xanax just doesn't cut it for me anymore.

i was on 3mg kpin a day if you want a long acting benzo go for valium. just my preference because kpin had ZERO rec value for me. if you dont mind me ask your age. i even tried klonopin in the 6-10mg range and all it did was raise my tolerance.

I'm 25. Valium would be great but I am not sure what my GP would be willing to prescribe. I started on Ativan, and thought I was the luckiest sob in the world when he agreed to give it a try upon asking him what his thoughts on Xanax instead as the Ativan did not feel strong enough.

Like I said I am at the point where I really don't like the Xanax anymore. He either needs to up the dosage of switch me to a new benzo I think. There was a time where I would be worried about possibly putting my Xanax script in jeopardy. I have been on benzos daily for almost two years now. I enjoy the recreational aspect a lot...too much. I really don't care what happens with my script at this point. It would be nice to not have to take pills just function every day.

thanks for the info. valium from my understanding has a bad stigma with doctors and they do not like to prescribe it because the "duration of effects is too short but the half life is very long". while i have you hear was wondering if ambien works for you? even at 10mgs i find it takes me over an hour to get to sleep, shouldn't i be floored? i rarely use my benzos to keep my tolerance at baseline so 10mgs should do the trick.

If you are 18 and currently prescribed 1.5mgs of Alprazolam a day, you will experience a life-time of addition, withdrawal, exacerbated anxiety, and disinhibition of your true self. Get off when you can and/or learn to take sparingly.

That's great advice. Like I said use me as an example. Xanax really will only become your worst nightmare if you can't use sparingly. Doctors will over medicate. I thought that's what I wanted too.

Ambien doesn't make me sleepy at all anymore. After abusing it for a time I have stopped taking it all together. A rather strange drug really.

Great advice CG. Now I'm scared to mess around with getting a doctor to prescribe benzos for one more reason. (besides the fact that somehow benzos quickly give me hyper anxiety when I run out that is only fixed by a destructive blackout drinking sesh)

Your age is most likely the reason that your doctor was hesitant to prescribe that much Xanax. It's really up to him whether or not he will keep you on these meds. Benzo withdrawal is hellish so be careful not to overuse them.

thanks for your concern T my restoril 30s that i dont have a script for get used more than my prescription xanax because i find the restoril far more euphoric.
