Adverse reaction to poppy seed tea

Ok so yesterday I had some Poppy Seed Tea at noon and then 12 hours later some more and then at 7 am woke up with my eyelids pretty swollen, tender to the touch and red.. I thought I had some eye infection so I went to see my eye doctor and after she could not figure out what I had I told her about the Poppy Seed Tea and she told me that she thought it had to be a reaction to that. She told me that I had all the pores in my upper eyelid clogged and she could see the dilated blood vessels.

I googled this and some people did say that redness of the eyelid can be an opiate side effect. It feels like an allergic reaction except I have taken opiates a 1,000 times and never had anything happened to me. I'm not going to take this anymore to see if it goes away, but can anyone tell me if they've had this happened to them? I'm a lil worried. Thanks.

<Not havin' that>

I don't know who messed with your title (there was no edits made to your post btw) but you're just not gonna speak like that... seriously, calm down.

Consider this a warning, if you continue to abuse people you will be infracted. Now, if you would have been nice about it and PM'ed a mod we could have changed it for you... So I'll ask, what was your original title name?

poppy seed tea is insanely unpredictable. I tried it for the first time a few weeks ago and had an awful reaction on 220 grams, which is considered a low dose. Sparing the details my breathing was extremely fucked up along with my heart rate and I couldn't stop throwing up, I thought I was going to die. This is all with a tolerance to opiates, just be careful.

Well someone DID change it cause that is not what I chose... it was.. Reaction to opiates????... I apologize for the insult but I was pretty scared and I came here to see if anyone had experienced this and chose a title I thought would attract more attention than simply first time using PST

Strange that a mod would do that. I don't recall seeing any mod edits either, however please PM a mod next time. Changing a title for a BL'er is no problem and you could've handled things better instead of going straight to insults. I changed the title to "adverse reaction to poppy seed tea" as it's a bit more specific. Hope you made a full recovery.

2 different people in this thread with different reactions had me not even thinking of trying poppy tea. I was curious for a long time, but have read quite a few people saying that poppy pod tea can be drastic for everyone.

Will stick to pills.

Yes, pills are definitely better but when you got nothing PST can be fun... for example, I've take 2 different brands, one of those made me vomit both time and only 2 days later I woke up with the swollen eyelids like I described, now I blamed the swelling to the other brand I took that very same day but I had taken them before and nothing had happened so I'm thinking it probably was the one from before... So Yes, if you do try PST, take very little to see how your body reacts, I should have done that with the new brand that made me vomit but instead I made the assumption all seeds were equal, not true

Yes, thank you.. the swelling is almost gone and only some of the redness persists but I'm a million times better... I went to me eye doctor and told her about the PST (she's the coolest doctor ever) and told me that she couldn't find anything else wrong with me and that I prolly had a mini overdose.

It could have been caused by something else. OD?! Be careful John. We tend to think poppy seed tea is not that bad but it can cause respiratory fatalities in some cases, depending on the dose and tolerance.

Yes, I suppose it could have been caused by something else, but I am not allergic to anything else and that day I didn't try any new foods or anything and the only thing that changed was the PST so my assumption and my doctor's was that

I actually took some PST again today and so far I'm good.. If I get something like this again I'm never doing this shit again

Being on opiates makes me work day sooooooo more tolerable and even fun that it's hard not to want to do it.
