What the fuck happened?
Anybody else feeling - like me - as though the bottom's dropped out of their world with this outright Tory victory?
I'm speechless with grief.

Conservative Party outline plans for mental health in its manifesto
The Conservative Party has outlined what it would do to improve services for people with mental ill health, if it were elected to govern at the upcoming general election.
The existing commitment to put mental health services on a par with physical health is reaffirmed, with a promise to go further, including ensuring there are therapists in every part of the country providing treatment for those who need it.
In addition, the manifesto says the Conservatives are increasing funding for mental health care. This is not expanded upon, however. But, in the last budget before Parliament was dissolved, there was a commitment to boost the funding of children’s mental health services by £1.25 billion over the next five years to help develop services.
The manifesto also says that a Conservative government would enforce the new access and waiting time standards for people experiencing mental ill health, including children and young people.
As well as this, a Conservative government would ensure that women have access to mental health support during and after pregnancy, while strengthening the health visiting programme for new mothers.
Elsewhere, the Conservatives pledge to end the practice of using police cells as ‘places of safety’ for those experiencing a mental health crisis by ensuring proper provision of health and community-based places of safety.
Yeah man, austerity dontcha know.. but I can't imagine there won't be a few institutions left where a stimfreak can rest the ol' head after pumping it full of various experimental uppers, and fentanyl, and entire strips of sleeping pills, plus RC psychedelics and/or dodgy RC dissociatives, washed down with alcohol.
Was that aimed at myself?
Classy, and frankly unnecessary.
It was a joke. You missed the joke in post #43, so lurching decided to have a chuckle about it. Nothing spiteful.
No, there will be no abolition of mental health services under the Tory government. Just a continuation of their gradual erosion / privatisation.
Manifesto promises are for getting elected, not living up to when you have been elected.
Ahhh, thank you for the clarification. Still think it was just a tad personal, mind.
I am aware of the incredible hypocrisy in my posts, Sammy. I make light of such myself quite often.Well you are always going on about taking combos of drugs which are unhealthy for somebody experiencing the symptoms you describe. Lurching's portrayal was a caricature, sure, but there were some truths in it.
Wilfully playing games with your mental health then complaining about the lack of a safety net can tend to prompt that kind of response.
Not that they would have fared any better than Jimmy Savile's memorial, the minute he'd got back from Buckingham Palace.I can't possibly imagine what's made you so cynical about politics :D
You're right though. Cameron didn't set his policies in stone.

It's no secret I have a massive problem with drugs and my mental health; two issues which are very often co-morbid and I would be very surprised if I was alone on this board with such issues. If we began making caricatures of every poor choice a poster on BL makes, it'd probably be hilarious, yes, but ultimately it doesn't really add much.

Just to be clear, I haven't heard that the Tories are going to abolish all mental health services.
I was merely using hyperbole to make a point.
