A few health questions about high dose adderall use

I don’t want to go into extreme detail about exact doses, health, and side effects so I will try to be as short as possible. Please don’t respond unless you are familiar with this level of use and understand. When I first started taking addy the thought of taking 100mg a day would have sounded unrealistic and fatal but now it doesn't seem so mind blowing, I am looking for answers from educated people that understand this.

Me:
-26 year old male
-College student in last semester
-173lbs (13.4% BMI if it matters)
-6ft tall
-was very physically active growing up.
-have celiac
-have family history of Hypothyroidism (mom)

First 4 years of use history:
I have been prescribed to Adderall for 5 years in total, for the first 2 years I would randomly take 5mg -20mg very rarely (like 1-4 times a month.) Then college stressed me out and I started taking it more aggressively. For years 3 and 4 I was prescribed 30mg a day instant release and would generally start off taking 20mg then a few hours later 20mg then a about .5 hour to an hour later another 20-30mg (total of 40-70mg a day) NEVER EXCEEDING 70MG. I would only do this for about 2-3 weeks straight until my script ran out then I would sleep forever and be fine until I did this again next month. Every once in a while I would stop taking it all together for 1-2 months.

5th year (The focus of my questions and concerns):
This year school became extremely stressful and my doctor prescribed me (30) 30mg instant release AND (30) 30mg name-brand XR monthly. My tolerance was alright pretty high and for the first six months I would take 40mg instant release to start followed by 30-40mg instant release through out the rest of the day (split up in 10-15mg periods). The same break periods between use apply here and I didn’t touch the XR’s at all.
In the last 3 months I have slowly upped my dose over time again and have begun using the XR’s and the IR’s together, usually starting by taking 60mg XR to start then a few hours later 15 mg instant, then 5-10mg ever hour until I reach a total dose I don't feel comfortable exceeding (generally between 70-100mg a day) and have been doing this for a few months now.

Health and side effect information (Important):
- On my current 100mg a day dose I don’t even get half the “high” or motivational feeling that I used to get last year taking only 20mg.
- Throughout the last year I have always made sure to eat when my body tells me too (usually 3-4 meals a day) and to eat healthy (I take vitamins daily and eat vegi’s, fish, chicken, fruits for meals) just not very many carbs. (daily calories usually total 1100-1500 a day)
- All 4 years I ALWAYS get sufficient sleep 6-9 hours every night and if I don’t (very very rarely) I make sure to get extra sleep the next night. I have only pulled 3 all nighters PERIOD
- My side effects through the years have varied periodically and completely change. First 3 years even taking 40mg made me feel like I was going to die at the end of the day. This 3 months of 70-100mg use I have experienced very little or no side effects from any amount (I will go for a few weeks with a heavy heart beat or random light headedness but that’s it.
- My feet have always become cold when taking Adderall unless I move all day while on it. Now it only happens sometimes when I take it
- When taking Adderall I don’t drink alcohol and I NEVER have any form of caffeine off or on Adderall.
- I do very little physical activity and usually spend my day sitting on the couch studying every once in a while walking around or going somewhere.
- Vitamins I take daily:
1000mg fish oil
2000mg Vit D
50mg CoQ10
500mg B-12 and Folic acid
- I also keep a water bottle next to me and make sure to drink between .75 and 1.5 gallons of water every day.

POINT OF ALL THIS:
Recently my blood pressure has jumped quite a bit when I take Adderall regardless of the level of dosage(used to be in healthy range). When this happens my face and neck get slightly red and feel pressure mostly in the fron-sides of my neck, there is also a very noticeable "heavy" heart beat in the area on each side of my throat. Yesterday my blood pressure was the worst it has been at 149/95 at 88 bpm resting, this morning before taking any of my dose it measured 114/72 at 83bpm. I associate most of this with my recent lack of physical activity this year, generally after a day of moving around a lot or doing something physical more than walking I feel way better/refreshed the next day. I plan to quit taking adderall forever after I'm done with finals in 16 days I just feel like my heart is becoming overworked (I worry a lot) and know the next two weeks will most likely be hard on my heart/body.

1) A few times in the past I have taken a .25mg of Xanax after coming down from Adderall at night and it has made me feel perfect and sleep amazing also feeling totally refreshed the next day. This also has made effects of adderall stronger that following day. I know Xanax can raise blood pressure, would it be dangerous to take Xanax when Adderall has increased my blood pressure to high levels or at the end of a day where I have taken 70-100mg of Adderall?

2) Is there any specific foods/vitamins I should take that decrease damage of this level of addy on my heart/body?

3) I want to start lightly exercising but have the feeling my heart is already fatigued, would it be healthy/better to start lightly exercising now or wait until I have quit taking Adderall? As of the past week my chest has been slightly tight/ sore in the middle (by slightly I mean 2 out of 10 pain, a hangnail would bother me more) I lightly worked out the other day and after warming up with a very slow stationary bike ride of 3 minutes my heart rate measured 144 BMP which made me nervous because I wasn't even breathing heavily.

4) My legs have started sweating terribly at night in the past few weeks, anything to be concerned about?

Hard to post asking for info, then try to filter who answers.

You do realize that Addy can damage the mucosa layer, which will cause you issues on top of celiac? Try taking an acid reducer, or Nexium to protect your stomach for a while.

Your BP is regulated by the kidneys. A Nephrologist will tell you that stimulants cause the renal veins to constrict, making the BP erratic in some cases. Your kidneys are working harder with the stimulants, so the rise in BP makes sense.
While your heart pumps the blood, ultimately, your kidneys are the final judge/jury as to how your BP is lowered/raised.

Take your BP on both wrist/ankles. Resting rate, laying down, then sitting up.

I don't understand these high doses of medications, especially Addy. Do you feel by taking 100mg you're going to achieve better clarity mentally and better results physically?

It's better to take a lower dose, or change meds all together.

Since you seem to have some knowledge of your anatomy, I suggest you have an echo on your heart to be sure there is no thickening of the lining, as high BP over time can cause this. I also suggest you have some scans on your kidneys to ensure all renal veins, ports are working properly. Make sure there are no cyst or changes causing the rise in BP.

Lastly, consider the outcome of taking high doses of this medication log term. What are you trying to achieve? What are the benefits? You're already showing signs of hypertension, exhaustion, etc.

(I've been in the medical field 18+ years...seen it all)

Haha, yeah that came off a bit rude. I was intending to push away people who just see the extremely high dose and assume I am "Wired/high" out of my mind. Really my tolerance is so high that even at this dose I feel very little extra motivation.

I appreciate the information, this is the kind of insight I am looking for. I will definitely look into this, I'm sure this is responsible for a lot of the pain/swelling feeling under my left ribcage I used to get.

I understand this, the issue is the situation I have put myself in. I have a fairly tough time motivating myself to study because when I do I have serious comprehension issues and usually have to read things 5 times before I understand what they are saying/asking. I don't feel like I will achieve better mental clarity, it is simply the fact that when the effects begin to wear off I lose my study motivation and no matter how hard I try end up staring at the screen and not actually studying. Since my tolerance is as high as it is I have to take a much higher dose and it wears off quickly, thus I take more to keep the motivational effect. I can comfortably fall asleep 4 hours after taking 60mg XR I actually did it yesterday.

I will have to find a way to measure my blood pressure on my legs and such (I have just been using Dillons grocery store public blood pressure machine) and I will post the results as soon as I do.
Lastly, I do understand the long term issues which is primarily why I plan to stop as soon as possible. Right now is just not the most appropriate time as i'm approaching finals in my last semester of college (hopefully) so I really can afford to lose any motivation at all.

By the way, what would measure blood pressure in different places (legs arms left right) show?

Considering your blood pressure was that high and you only weight 180 pounds is a bit scary. I'm kind of pissed that your doctor would even prescribe you such a monster daily dose.

You have the same ill effects from Adderall like me, Sweaty/cold feet. and Sitting in the couch all day besides walking around campus/grocery shopping, etc*

Thanks for your post, I have only taken 40mg a day for half a year, and I'm already showing signs of HIGH BP and shit. But then again, I'm lazy as hell even when on 20mg and I drink every night.

I took 100mg only ONE time in 6 months, and I HATED IT.

You know that feeling you got when you took 20mg and it was good, and now You take 100mg/60mg and nada? You know you gotta take a break, Just like I know I do.

Edit: NVM about the doc, 60mg is the maximum allowed daily dose, so w.e.

But yeah man, I have all the same symptoms, fuck.

Yeah, I did the whole drinking at the end of a come-down thing for a while a year or so back. Then some really sketchy shit started happening so I quit that all together and it all went away. What blows my mind is that I have been measuring by blood pressure every night for at least a month now and it has always been high after I had taken adderall that day. I ran out of my XR script and filled my IR script on the 30th. The same day while I was picking that script up I also grabbed a B-12 complex "stress relief" as the bottle says and CoQ10. Those are the only 3 things I have changed in my life in the past 4 days and last night was the 3rd night in a row my blood pressure has been completely normal, i'm so confused. I took 110mg between 1pm and 11pm while studying yesterday (30mg instant at 10:45) and when I measured my blood pressure at just before 2:00am it was only 118/76 @ 64 bpm!?!?! Seriously? 110mg and only 64 bpm I was so mind blown I actually drove to another Dillons pharmacy because I though the machine was broken, nope almost the same thing, 117/78 @73bpm. I give up, the body is too complex, either the change in adderall script, the B-vit or the CoQ10 did something.

Taking half a gram to a gram a day is not even fatal if you have the tolerance.

Health and side effect information (Important):
- On my current 100mg a day dose I don’t even get half the “high” or motivational feeling that I used to get last year taking only 20mg.

That is because motivation is not from a drug, it is purely from your own soul. You believed it gave you motivation so you did get motivated, but in reality, you motivated yourself.

That is like a starvation diet. You should up your fat intake especially if you have celiac and want to protect your cells. Fat is what protects cells after all, as well as provides heat, both of which are adversely effected by stimulants. As for carbs, sugary carbs are actually what you crave during a comedown crash as they give quick energy to allow you to think better. I'm not saying eat a shitload of sugary junk like most speedfreaks do, but do eat some of it. As for vitamins, things like magnesium, B vitamins, Zinc, and iron tend to be especially helpful in my experience, not to mention omega 3 and 6s, which you get well from fish anyway. Beyond that, diet is pretty much vastly overstated anyway.

If you aren't just eating literally nothing but gas station nachos, slurpies, chocolate bars, which is what I know most tweakers actually do for months and years at a time, you are going to be fine.

Heck, you can live on shit for years and it barely even matters. Nutritionist is mostly bullshit anyway, vastly over-stated by people with agendas and based in collective hysteria.

- All 4 years I ALWAYS get sufficient sleep 6-9 hours every night and if I don’t (very very rarely) I make sure to get extra sleep the next night. I have only pulled 3 all nighters PERIOD

I've had literally about 20 or so 5-7 night no sleep benders on meth the last two years. I'm still perfectly fine mentally. My friend has done this for over a decade, still has no problems.

I feel for you man, but this is entirely created by your own fear. It is called a panic attack, very common amongst people who haven't mastered their anxiety. Stimulants just make you hyper-focus on it, which can make them worse, although not as much as hallucinogens can at least. This is why if you had someone like me with you, who re-assured you, you would feel happy. You just have to re-assure yourself. Nobody has ever died of a heart attack or any kind of problem people worry about from stimulant use alone. Those who did, were going to die anyway because their system was genetically fucked. Again, people do half a gram of speed a day for years and get an EKG with normal levels, normal, sometimes even low blood pressure and pulse, how is this possible? Because it is a myth it damages your cardiovascular system anymore than say someone who runs everyday does. Just nobody has the balls to say it.

- My feet have always become cold when taking Adderall unless I move all day while on it. Now it only happens sometimes when I take it
- When taking Adderall I don’t drink alcohol and I NEVER have any form of caffeine off or on Adderall.

Haha man I've drunk 4-5 energy drinks after slamming 5 points of meth in a day, and smoking on top of that, and I've been tested several times and every time my health is in normal, even exceptionally good conditions. Stop worrying, that is what is going to kill you (serious, stress from anxiety, fear, and worry, is much more lethal than drugs).

I'd say getting physically active, especially lifting weights, will make a man out of you and help you overcome your fear.

It is because you have so much fear about your health you work yourself into a panic attack which raises blood pressure and heart rate. Seriously. Do you think sprinters or runners who get a high heart rate are so scared? You just don't exercise so anything that raises your heart rate scares you, which I understand. If you actually are having a stroke or heart attack or anything, you won't even give a shit about it, because you will be unable to think. People who actually need to be worried about it don't worry about it, because when your health is actually fucked, you are unable to even rationally think, let alone form a sentence or check your heart rate.

Again, no. But I seriously suggest walking everyday as it lowers blood pressure like a motherfucker, and if you are getting jacked on stims everyday, you will have no problem getting motivated to walk. Just get some music or smoke to make it fun or a buddy.

2) Is there any specific foods/vitamins I should take that decrease damage of this level of addy on my heart/body?

It does as much damage as going for a run does, in fact, probably less. If you start walking everyday, lifting weights, you will feel 100x better, trust me.

As for protecting yourself, you worry too much, worrying is what is killing you, as your worry raises cortisol levels which do cause health problems eventually.

Laugh more and worry less. As long as you are getting most the micro-nutrients and macro-nutrients, you have nothing to worry about.

There is some supplements that can ease your mind though... try L-Carnitine and Methione, they actually can prevent heart attacks and shit.

Lifting weights is awesome too because it makes your veins dilate, and making your veins get bigger also reduces damage.

Poor guy. I know what is like to be so afraid all the time, I was there. I'll tell you I've danced for 3 hours while high as fuck on 4 day meth, caffeine, and nicotine bender, and most here would say I'm lucky I didn't drop dead of a heart attack or some bullshit. The truth is when you actually are getting to a point you need to slow down, you will know. I did start to get really fucking dehydrated and when it happens, you will stop, trust me. Think you won't stop if you are out of breath running? Have some faith in yourself, if you are actually at any risk, you won't be scared, you will just stop.

Point is we aren't so weak and fragile like the cowards would have you believe. People that post here are often a bunch of pencil-necked geeks who have done nothing meaningful with their lives, and are so scared they just spread the same shit that scares others so they never do anything fun or interesting, it is sad really.

4) My legs have started sweating terribly at night in the past few weeks, anything to be concerned about?

No. Unless you have a genetically bad body or are old as fuck, you aren't going to need medical treatment.

Take it from my personal experiences, which are real experience and evidence, not the bullshit these nerds reads in textbooks.

I've met decade-long tweakers and heroin addicts and shit that do more fucked up things than anyone here would say possible on a daily basis, and still somehow are alive, some are even like 70.

These dudes on this forum are worried about like every nutrient and interaction, when the real life drug addicts are fucking slamming shit from dirty needles and living on junk food and all kinds of bullshit.

The reality is the people who are most "knowledgeable" as medical professionals are actually a bunch of fucking pussies who have never done anything but read infront of a textbook what is written by other idiots who have never
actually seen or done drugs extensively, just collected exaggerations by idiots with anti-drug agendas.

So stop worrying son.

The fucking military gives its troops a shitload of Dexies like a few hundred mgs a day in wars, and these fuckers march with like 120 pounds of combat gear over 5 miles in the hot desert heat living on fucking scraps and don't drop dead, man some lived to be 90 from World War 2!

Geeze, and you are worried about going for a walk when your granddad was fucking in a trench with rats gnawing on his balls, living off beans and spam, fucking jacking himself daily with a meth/heroin speedball mixture, in the soaking rain, in a constant state of panic, then marching for miles on end without sleep, but the fucker still lives to be 84.

Makes you see it diffferently, eh?

I like the positive energy here, good shit
