Hello, Bluelighters :)

I just joined today and thought an introduction would be a good place to start. Though this is my first post, I have been reading/lurking for quite some time. I initially found this site during one of my many Google searches for information.

I figured I would join since it is likely that I will find myself in a situation where I need support soon. While I am a very strong person, some changes are...difficult to make. ;-)

I am also looking equally - if not more - forward to providing support and care for others here.

From a distance, I have admired the support and care and concern that members here provide one another with. I think this is a really great community, and I am happy to be a part of it now.

I hope that in your replies to this thread, you will tell me a little bit about yourselves. I enjoy learning about others very much, and I'm certain there are plenty of interesting people here. :-)

A little bit about me:
I endure chronic pain from a variety of conditions, which certainly complicates things. While I prefer to manage my pain myself, this obviously creates some problems. Currently I am trying hard to find employment that I can actually physically do that also pays enough to support myself fully - my marriage is an abusive one. So, I have a lot going on, and I look forward to interacting with others here, and learning better ways to handle my pain, better ways that do not cause as many issues.

I have had some success with experimenting with different things, and I am sure I will get around to discussing them in more detail. If anyone is in a similar situation and wants to talk, feel free to email me. I checked off being able to receive emails from other members, as I am aware that I cannot PM yet due to my newbie status.

Some other things about me, just in general:
HUGE DOG LOVER lol. I love my girl more than anything in the world. I am a creative person and I enjoy art, DIY stuff, and making something beautiful from "nothing" or "trash". I am a maniac in researching - I spend just about every free moment I have either reading or writing, if I am not doing something artsy lol.

So, I guess I will end this now, before I ramble on too long.

I look very forward to meeting you all, and I hope you're having a great day. Be kind to yourself, take good care of yourself and the ones you love. And even the ones you don't ;-)

Thanks for having me!

Greetings! Welcome to BL :)

As far as pain management goes, have you ever considered kratom? If you are trying to stay away from substances that can cause trouble, kratom is effective in reducing pain and isn't necessarilyas harmful as opiates but does still cause some wd's upon cessation and can be habit forming in the long term.

Also, nice to meet someone that is also super into art :D
Except I am a CRAZY CAT LADY. lol I love my babies so I know how you feel :3

Anyway, happy posting! (or lurking, whatever your cup of tea!)
Feel free to ask questions as well~~~~~~~!

Hi,

Welcome to BL! Please let me know if you have any questions. It's great to have you here!
I have an art background, do some pet care and have chronic spinal pain myself. (Seeing a surgeon tomorrow). BL has been so very supportive since I joined.

We have The Pain Management Megathread (Chronic and Acute Pain Discussion) Version 5.0 ~ V that might interest you.

Best,
Smoky :)

Hey Smoky-

Thanks for the warm welcome :)

And thank you SO MUCH for that link! I am so excited to read through this thread! This should be a fascinating read. When I said I'm a research junkie I wasn't kidding lol.

What type(s) of art are you into?

How did your appointment go with the surgeon? If I may ask, what's going on with your back?

Wishing you a pain-free and happy day. Take good care.

Peace.

Hey there Papaverium-

Thanks for the welcome :)

And thank you also for your suggestion of Kratom. I am reading up on it today. I do have one experience with it - but it didn't help me. However, there are many, many possible reasons for it not helping me, from the place I bought it from selling pure crap (possibly), to wrong strain, too low of a dose, etc. It was a day I had nothing for pain, and I was in SEVERE pain. In a desperate attempt to help myself, I went to a local headshop and bought some Kratom. I don't recall the type or the amount.

From reading it seems like the red and white strains are best for pain. I will likely order some soon to give it a try for withdrawals and pain management. I know you cannot source on here...is it acceptable to ask people to PM (email in my newbie case) you a reliable vendor, or is that not allowed? Later on today I will use the search function on here to read some more anecdotal experiences with Kratom strains for pain.

Do you have chronic pain/health issues yourself? If so do you use Kratom for it? What has been your experience with levels of relief, if you don't mind?

What kind of art are you into/do you do?

As for being a Crazy Cat Lady lol, I'm definitely a Crazy Dog Lady, but we do have 2 cats as well :)

It's a full house here in our 1-bedroom apartment! lol

Thanks again for your help :)

Take care and hope you're having a good day.

Peace.

Absolutely!

Oh, most subject matters and mediums, just depends on the style/content I guess. I have been getting back into photography lately; although I do miss a good oil painting session. I enjoy expressionism mostly, Abstract (color field types), some surrealism, hyperrealism. Sometimes it just comes down to who the artist is.

It's a long story with my spine stuff. Having a small surgery in a couple weeks. How about you?

Wishing you the best as well. Take care and see you on the boards. :)
