What is "magic"?

In the UK there is a drug that has been around for quite a while now which has been called magic, or maj for short. I was under the impression it was a street name for mephedrone..
I've taken mephedrone in the past when it was legal and always had it in a fine powdered form. Nobody seems to know what this drug actually is they normally guess it to mephedrone. I've never bought it by the name of magic before, although the term came around around the time of the ban of meph

So my friend bought 4 grams tonight and it looked nothing like the mephedrone I've ever taken, it was more like very small rocks similar to rock cocaine but much smaller lumps and harder to break up, was very solid.

Could this be or does this sound like mdpv? I've never tried mdpv before or seen it as it's relatively unknown in the UK at least by that particular name.

I have taken about 200mg of this substance in 4 seperate lines, it feels to me like strong ritalin, a slightly similar feel as weak cocaine but with a hint of euphoria. It stung my nose like a bastard, worse than anything else ive ever insufdilated, but did have a hint of a taste of mephedrone to it (although this burning could be due to the gram of high quality cocaine I had last night).

I'm wondering has anybody else heard the term "magic" in relation to a drug and what the substance actually is.

Thia is not a what did i take or what should I take thread, more a question as to what the street name magic is generally referred to?

Although from my description of effects does this sound like Mdpv?
I'm curious to what it is everybody in northern Ireland is sniffing and not actually knowing what chemical it is.

Does anybody know what magics actual chemical name is?

What you describe sounds about as far from MDPV as it is possible to get.

I'm severely tempted to close this thread as we do not allow random powder assignations - no "what did i take?" threads as you note... I'll leave it as is for now as if it is as you suggest - truly rampant across NI - this thread could have wider significance. Sounds like your local dealers bought a shitload of EPH a couple weeks back just before the ban though tbh...

It really could be anything and sounds like any of a gajillion shitey RC stims to me from your description. I'd bet a ball on it being ethylphenidate and/or methiopropamine (probably one or t'other cut to buggery with benzocaine, possibly both combined and cut to buggery with benzocaine, your description reeks of ethylphenidate though - possibly sold "neat" but mostly sold cut to buggery with benzocaine to try to minimise that insane nasal burn (which is still omnipresent even so from all I've heard)).

In short, what you describe sounds all but certain to be ethylphenidate. Be aware this substance was very recently banned in the UK so will be currently being dumped across the land. MDPV it ain't. I can promise you that.
 
That's fair enough I would like somebody from Northern Ireland or parts of england/Scotland to chime in here with their knowledge of what this substance may be? I actually do remember buying it once before a few years back under the name of magic come to think of it and it was just mephedrone cut to about 50% or so.

The strange part for me is the very small extremely hard rocks unless that's just a binder they have added.

It's probably the most abused party drug in Ni at the moment which is why I'm curious
 
Probably ephedrine. It's impossible to know a substance is without lab testing.
 
My guess is ethylphenidate that has been cut and pressed / recrystallised into rocks. Sounds like the effects, just not not the dosage hence the cut theory.

I'll be surprised if this is true.

Would be interesting to find out what it is or if anyone else from NI knows what's in it.

No I can tell you as fact that it is the most abused party drug in northern Ireland, followed by shitty quality cocaine and ecstasy. The coke here is unbelievably shite, half a g it takes to get a hit. I was luck enough to get something around the 30-40% mark when my dealer owed me money before he cut his shit up the other night, mdma is rare apart from tablet form.
Speed is basically non existent,
Methamphetamine doesn't exist whatsoever.
 
Dose is right too, it's very possible to take 200mg of eph, normal doses are 25-50mg. It's common for it to come in crystallised rocks. It is very similar to ritalin. More to the point, it's been sold in headshops under that name for years & recently banned. It was a bit of a surpise ban too, they only got one day notice to shift their stock so it was going very cheap on the last day before the recent ban.

You don't really want to snort lines of it either, it seems much harder on the nose than coke. Try dissolving some in a drink or plugging it.

This describes exactly what I invested last night, small rock hard crystals slightly off white, when cut into lines some if they crystals looked like tiny tiny shards of glass, and it stung like a mother fucker there was literally tears coming from my eye and the burn lasted a good 15-20 Mins and was similar to strong ritalin. So I think we have our answer

Sounds like it probably is ethylphenidate.

It's been getting sold as cocaine around here for at least a year now. Horrible aul' stuff that has very little nice effect on me.

Nobody seems to care that they're paying £40 for a gram of something that was legal and cost a fraction of that.
 
Having just done ethylphenidate the last 2 days I strongly agree thats what it was you had.Although theres no 100% way to tell over the net we can come to a consensus that its likely ethylphenidate.
 
Does sound like ethylphenidate, synthacaine or something like that.

Back in the day Magic was definitely a term for meph especially around the North West.
