GHB and sleep myths - Let's be real

I need some help guys,

I know it's probably not possible, but even to this day I hear people (even people who know their stuff) tell me that sleeping 3 hours or more on a full dose of GHB will induce a powerful enough sleep to equal 8 hours. (Full comatose amount of GHB is apparently around 4.5g according to prescription grade stuff.)

I just find it hard to believe. If this were true, then every business owner or executive in the world would have a prescription to xyrem and would be functional the other 21 hours of the day.

Now I tried it out myself, and found that it was NOT like sleeping a full 8 hours. By day 3 or 4 of my experiment I was having difficulty concentrating and ended up just sleeping naturally for 12 hours.

I would agree with you Renz. I've had access to multiple bottles of Xyrem when my a family member had a script they didn't take.
I would take massive doses sometimes in the comatose range u describe often combined with large quantities of alcohol.
(Disclaimer DO NOT COMBINE GHB & ALCOHOL it's asking for trouble/death)
I have tried what u mentioned with the same results. I would also have to say that when they say comatose they mean comatose.
Hell I've fallen asleep standing up, in the middle of sex outside & continued standing till I was slapped awake.
Definitely a drug to respect, especially if your stupid enough to combine it with other CNS depressants.
I was young and stupid so no need for speeches, though u may get better answers in a different forum.
Not sure this falls under BDD type material. It seems a bit more complicated of an issue.

I recently had a whole bottle of xyrem to experiment with extensively. I tried the method of comatose sleep for various hours and doses and came to the same conclusion as you Renz.

Thanks for the responses guys,

Was hoping someone would swoop in and give us a more detailed scientific reasoning why the "3 hours is all you need" myth is or is not balogna.

Yeah :/ Would be pretty awesome if you could get by on 3 hours

I completely agree. Hopefully it gets moved to ADD (or whatever ADD is called now).

I doubt there's any scientific grounding behind it, likely someone who was smashing GHB once upon a time KO'd for 3 hours, rebounded awake really stimmed up, and thought 'damn I feel refreshed! time to think up some arbitrary rationalization for this' :P

That said it does seem to have an effect on REM efficiency and shit like that, but I don't think significantly unless one already has a sleep disorder http://www.journalsleep.org/ViewAbstract.aspx?pid=25017
