"Darkness cannot be dissipated with more darkness.
A Phoenix woman who said her son was high on drugs when he attacked her Sunday night thanked the stranger who fatally shot the man during the attack.

Victoria Mendez, who was released from an area hospital after suffering stab wounds, did not see her son, Hakeem Shawky, in the months before the attack because he was suffering with a drug addiction, KPHO/KTVK reported.

She told the station that her son popped his head into her car window to give her a kiss, but he instead started slashing at her throat and grabbing her. She got out of the car and he continued the assault, she said. Her screams alerted a neighbor, whom she did not know, who confronted Shawky with a gun.

"He [the neighbor] said, 'Stop or I’m going to shoot,'" she told the station. Her son continued the attack and was shot once, but he seemed unfazed, she said. The neighbor reportedly fired a second shot that ended the attack.

She said that the neighbor had no other option and did the right thing. She blamed crystal meth for her son's downfall.

That's sad, some day we'll be able to do actual research of the effects of stimulants on the brain to find out exactly why this happens. One of those times you're glad there was a random person with a gun around though, it would be even more sad if he'd killed his mom too.

Evolution in action; most people should NOT BE USING METH, as most people are FUCKING STUPID.

Leave meth to the professional tweakers, kids.

Yup, psychos on meth and random ppl walking around with handguns. I love merica...

Super sad that's the way it went down. Meth is IMO one of the harder drugs there is...even tho I don't really see the whole hard drug vs soft drug thing, but heavy tweakers can be totally unpredictable. And dont forget along with cocaine, they are CII drugs....crazy. Never seen desoxyn irl but I've seen plenty of shards.

Idk... I mean, yeah, tweakers can be really unpredictable, but the only time I've ever been seriously at risk of harm by someone with drug induced psychosis, it was brought on by just weed. Nothing harder.

People are totally unpredictable.

The same incident could have occurred if her son was a violent drunk. Only, it probably wouldn't have made headlines, and, who knows, his mom would probably have been less thankful about having to bury her own child.

I am aware that Amphetamine-induced psychosis and/or violence can cause the user to exhibit a level of strength, agility, and resilience not seen in a sober or drunk person, but regardless, I still wonder whether he could have been restrained by other less deadly means since he was reportedly armed with a sharp object and not a firearm.

Yea good poi t ppl can be totally unpredictable, add an already on the edge person with a drug like ice or booze and they can go jekyl and Hyde real fast. Phets of all kinds I avoid like the plague, booze pretty Mich too...tho I do like a bulmers on ice when it's hot out hah.
