Hi,
Thanks for allowing me to join Bluelight. I love the information and love the witty posts...very entertaining.
Trying to taper off of oxys...how many time have the mods seen that statement?
I will try to find a megathread to hang out on and process my feelings of rage.

Hey there, welcome to BL!! I just saw ur post over at the adoption thread & I'm sorry we haven't been more forthcoming in greeting u.

IME we all come on here with our own agendas & skim over posts that may not be of immediate concern. I know I make the effort to welcome green lighters when I have the time.

We were all new once, & I slowly found out there is a bit of a pattern going on. BL can be crazy busy at times,- then it feels like no ones responded to u for a week!

Also, the lounge keeps the regulars busy with god knows what's next subjects!! Can be daunting at first, a bit OTT, I don't participate often but can be entertaining if u need some distraction.

I saw a mention of tapering off oxy, maybe uv written more in another thread.. I'll have a look & see if I can offer anything of value to ur situation.

Enjoy posting & reading, it's a great community x.

^tell us more POkemama, that will get more of a response.

Are u seeking support from a ten yr habit of banging oxys, or tapering after an injury/surgery?

What brings u to BL, is it a tapering program or success stories, or just common ground?

RTP,
Thanks for the warm welcome.. it is appreciated! I want to taper slowly, and I have posted around the place with some questions.

Thx for sharing ur story POkemama!!

Wow, u certainly have a history of drug use. I haven't yet seen the questions uv posted, but I think I get the idea.

Where I am we're a bit behind the states, but slowly & surely following in the steps of what u call the DEA.

I'm a chronic pain patient & take oxy,( as prescribed of course ;)), but my doctor has suddenly become strict in regard to prescribing & dispensing on the exact date. Previously it was a few days early, sometimes even a week. So I CT regularly.

I may have missed something in ur above post, is your doctor or the clinic dodgy or under investigation ? If you're legitimately prescribed pain pills & taking as prescribed, why do you feel you need to be "ahead of the game"? It's not as though the country is disposing of or banning oxycontin. Unless again I've missed something!!

I can't see the need for u to taper unless u simply are coming off oxy because u no longer need it. In that case ur doctor will assist u. IMHO it sounds a bit paranoid, & unnecessary to taper.

Any blanks that need to be filled in??

Why There Are Not A Lot of Success Stories Regarding Tapering

I am playing around with my taper schedule, already. I am ashamed to admit it, but feel the need to put it out there. I am using walking as one method of distraction while waiting to be able to take my next dose, as I do get a mild stomach upset, with anxiety and that feeling that time is not moving, as the main w/d symptoms. Because I do actually have pain issues, I dosed earlier than my taper plan due to pain caused by walking. Yeh, its lame. But, to compensate, I then waited even longer than my plan to take the next dose. Its just a game I am playing, and a game I am gonna lose unless I am honest with myself.
I realize I better find more things to do while waiting for my next dose than what I do at times: just sit and watch the clock and wait to be able to take my next dose. BL has been a great distraction so far, and I believe the main reason I was sticking to my taper plan perfectly for the first few days. At least, I have not taken more than prescribed during this refill period, and have, for the first time in almost a year, been able to accumulate a few extras. My reasons for tapering get clearer as I weigh the pros and cons of tapering vs just trusting and taking them as prescribed: I found an awesome company that I would like to work for. However, they do ua's as part of the hiring process and they are in the healthcare industry. No way will I take a pee test that will come up positive for oxy's. .

How true, the oxy always wins!!

Keep in mind it's not only the psychological & physiological pull of the drug, but receptors in your brain that are either being flooded by other chemicals or deprived when you take less then you're used to.

So it's not as basic as keeping your mind distracted, although BL is great for that. Can you obtain anything GABA like? Or a benzo? These quieten down our bodies cravings & wd symptoms.

For myself coming off opiates is not an option, so I've learnt to master acute withdrawls possibly more comfortably than many others, I'm merely meh for a few days.

I guess you came here with a plan, & whether you can successfully taper is really down to you. To find that in inner strength.

I wish you well,
