I personally love Texas and I miss it, no matter how backwards it may be, it's my home and we'll always be a proud nation. I'm more fond of the Southern, Eastern and Central parts than the panhandle, or DFW, or West.

Though I like the weather in Cali better. Got family out there and I love visiting, but the real estate prices are absurd compared to the South.

Texas is cool in the right places, man. Austin is of course THE SHIT, Houston can be cool if you know people, same with the DFW area. North and east texas blow though, super ass backwards, west doesn't really have much, South I don't have much experience with.

It's funny how a couple things happen in life and then next thing you know you go from being completely up to date with PD to opening it to all bold links 8)

^Yeah, the East part is hick as fuck... but by gosh those rolling hills and lush forests are gorgeous! I only hate DFW because of the urban cowboy class that spawned out of it... city folk who think they're country, driving brand new chromed-out Chevys and shit. Ick!

I love how it takes you longer to cross Texas than it does to cross most nations of the world. It blows my mind to think of all those people crammed in Europe when it takes me ten fucking hours just to get across the state and leave 8) I have a bayou full of alligators literally attached to my neighborhood back home, ahhh... the suburbs.

Have been to Austin, Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio myself. Loved them all, though Houston was definitely the least exciting. Admittedly this was back in 2006 with the International Air Cadet Exchange program. Your government pretty much paid for my 3 week holiday in USA :P

^I love H-town but I think it's only because I spent 3/4ths of my life there. No one who visits likes it hahah. We have amazing museums and drug culture though, at least compared to the hick state I live in now.... Houston's population is literally bigger than my current state's entire population.

Oh yeah, we USED to have the space program... my family lived 10 minutes from NASA, that was always cool. I had big dreams as a kid growing up there, wanted to be an astronaut. Clearly that fell through. Sorta ;)

Oh, and in Texas, when the speed limit says, say 70, it means 90. And people actually drive like that. I love it. Unless you're stuck in a city, you can haul ass and no one gives two fucks.

I also feel sorry for you chaps living far from Mexico, Mexican and Tex-Mex food is the shit. When I visited Virginia one time they didn't even have Taco Bell, I don't think I could live without good Mexican food!

What can I say, I miss Tejas.

So i am gonna be home alone for a minute
gonna see if i cant find some pills

I liked Houston when I was there...a lot. I felt good in Texas.
I think there's gotta be a reason us Texans love our state so much, but I can't think of why. I simply do.

By all means I should hate its conservative ass, for crying out loud, it's illegal to teach sex ed relating to homosexuals if it isn't entirely negative, no joke. The state doesn't even require factual information in its sex ed classes. But yet I love it there! Go figure...

I must admit that much of the time I just miss the weather though. Call me crazy, but those hot sticky summers by the bayou are the best IMO. I love getting my friend's canoe out and paddling around huntin for gators, drinkin beer, smokin herb... ah how I miss it. Only a few more months left in this dry, cold ass hell hole!

Rogdog is texas cool?

yeah, it's really like 5 different states tho. it's really enormous. some parts i like more than others. dallas and austin are great, san antonio is alright but there's not a whole lot there, houston is not so much my cup of tea because it's just too big and crowded. and i've actually never been out to west texas, the state is so big i could probably drive to chicago faster than i could drive to el paso.

best explanation i've heard, from that "bernie" movie with jack black:

rog i wanna hit dallas, austin, or maybe like corpus christi.
dallas is what i figure is most likely.
or NM
or like fresno, or salinas, norcal
manedogs

xorks, my man. love your new stuff. these jams are even better than the last ones imo

one small piece of constructive criticism (well really not criticism, more just what i think could be cool to add in). you guys should definitely learn to "peak" your jams, like you know how phish (and other jambands too) do that thing where the jam buildsup buildsup buildsup and then EXPLODES? a couple of those tension-release cycles thrown in to a jam strategically can crank the energy up to astronomical levels.

it sounds like it's really inspired and just spontaneously happens, but in reality there's a very specific technique for doing it and it's a calculated move. it involves playing an altered scale (usually melodic minor over a major key) off the 5th of the key, and everybody starts playing in an altered cadence which builds the tension, and then the drums cue the "release" and right then everybody falls back in line with the normal cadence and jumps back to the major scale, and the effect is this huge release of musical tension.

this video has one of the best explanations of it i've heard. you should try to get your bandmates on board with learning how to do this, it takes a bit to get it down but it's an enormously valuable trick to have at your disposal. it's the type of thing that can get people in the audience so ecstatic they faint and stuff lol

anyway, just thought i'd throw that out there in case it's helpful. you guys sound great tho, like i said the other day, i would buy a ticket to see you guys play any day.

^No but I would love to make hardcore sexy times with the woman who voices Bobby Hill. I'm talking dented thighs and everything...

i had no idea she was voiced by a woman until i read this

googled her:

505px-Pamela_Adlon_at_San_Diego_Comic-Con_2011_cropped.jpg
