Terry Pratchett has died

Nah, Lemmy will NEVER die...

Didn't realise that Pratchett was only 66. I knew he'd suffered from Alzheimer's for years, but assumed he was well into his 70s by now. A loss of a great talent fer sure...

Iggy's been clean for decades *ahem*.

Sad news. I thought he was brave to come out about the Alzheimer's at the peak of his success and I admired the way he used that success in raising awareness. Always seemed like the nicest of guys.

Hmmm, thought there would be more fans on here, or is he classed as uncool these days?

I don't think that anyone who has actually read any Terry Pratchett could be critical of him. His sense of humour, irony and satire is unsurpassed imo. I think many see him as just a Douglas Adams pretender or a hippy fantacist... But his writing was funny, gripping, observational, imaginative, prolific, etc. etc... Can't rate him high enough. Its a shame that we'll now never have a new disc world novel to look forward to....

Well said, No more witches, no more watch, no more Moist!

Gutted even though it was expected, I've enjoyed pretty much all of his work, few can produce such rich multi layered tales whilst remaining accessible to so many and he did so in such quantity.

Much love Terry, you got to really meet Death in the end, something I'm sure you found ironic <3

Gutted, his books were some of the first I remember reading of my own volition. Also the way his Twitter feed announced it was amazingly sad but appropriate as hell <3

oh man, i havent heard of this till now....
I love his books! the discworld is an amazingly interesting place... and he was a great author. the world is a colder place without him.

i too didnt know he was this young or about his health really. damn sad news.

Rest in peace

not a fan. however, i do love this description he wrote of the big bang: "in the beginning there was nothing, which exploded."

i also read a book he wrote with neil gaiman:

RIP terry and thank you - i read most of the early discworld books - a joy to read as a teen (and later) - he injected a much needed booster shot to the innoculation that douglas adams gave to the pretentious ways of british fantasy/sf writing - also generously invented half of harry potter for jk rowling (as did diane wynne jones) - though his version was a lot less smug and annoying (and more funny obviously).

Terry Pratchett - a mystery, wrapped in an enigma, wrapped in a vest (and a hat)
