MDMA currently LEGAL in Ireland!! (until midnight Thursday)

I knew I'd mistimed my trip. :!

Though saying that, I'd imagine that all passengers on flights from Manchester and Liverpool will be paid closer scrutiny in the next couple of days. Especially those bearing dodgy-looking bastards.
 
Not sure how it affects those with charges but it kinda makes me wanna do a line of K off the bonnet of a Garda car. =D

If I was the copper I'd be that impressed that you managed to find some ket I wouldn't have the heart to seize it and arrest you..... ok ok id probably seize it but that'd be purely to have a blast myself...
 
i dont think you can challenge given convictions though, the law doesnt work like that IIRC. mainly because if something was illegal when you did it, you broke the law and knew it. so you did do a "bad thing" even if current views are different. but im no legal expert.

this is indeed interesting. i wonder if it will have any kind of impact at all on availability and use... i cant imagine a large shipment boarding these days...
 
Whatever happened to all the MDMA production that was supposedly going on over here a few years back? Silly question - likely the same thing that happened to all the other MDMA being produced when the drought came.

The law was declared illegal though, so people who broke that illegal law did nothing illegal...
 
The law was declared unconstitutional and therefore repealed, but it was still on the statute for nearly four decades, so any previous convictions stand, I'm afraid.

Supposedly still active! Just not sold as crystal AFAIK.
Immitation blue ghosts, yellow lions, yellow & blue grenades & most recently yellow monkeys are a few presses that I suspect to be "homegrown" MD**. I have fuck all basis for thinking this actually. Just call it a hunch. As long as there's decent yokes about I don't really care! =D
 
It appears convictions not currently under appeal will remain.
A v Governor of Arbour Hill Prison [2006] IESC 36 per Murray CJ in A at p 143
'The General Principle'
“In a criminal prosecution where the State relies in good faith on a statute in force at the time and the accused does not seek to impugn the bringing or conduct of the prosecution on any ground that may in law be open to him, including the constitutionality of the statute, before the case reaches finality, on appeal or otherwise, then the final decision in the case must be deemed to be and to remain lawful notwithstanding any subsequent ruling that the statute, or a provision of it, is unconstitutional. That is the general principle.”
