Hello,

6 months ago I was offered a pipe to smoke. I didn't know it contained meth. I've never done any drugs before, apart from alcohol. I tried not to inhale as I didn't trust it, but the smoke entered my lungs on a few occasions. I only felt some euphoria, but when I was on flight back home (I was on holiday), I got very ill (severe stomach ache, chest pains, dilated pupils). I had inhaled some smoke an hour earlier. Thankfully it was over after 3 hrs. Never had any issues since. However, I recently read an article about how meth destoys dopamine receptors and causes brain damage. Now I'm worried I might have damage, even though there is no proof for it. But I have OCD, so I obsess over stuff that seems illogical. I have asperger's, depression and OCD/anxiety so I'd be very thankful if someone here could reassure me I can't have any damage.

I know this sounds stupid, but it has been really suffering for me.

Thanks :)

Don't believe everything you read on the internet.

I know people who've been smoking lots of meth for lots of years and are still at least marginally functional, so I'm pretty sure you're not going to get brain damage from accidentally inhaling a little bit of meth (which probably is roughly equivalent to owning cats and smelling cat pee for six months).

you're fine. Do not smoke things when you dunno what's in them.

Those feelings you got sounds like me on uppers. Except I once got in very deep and my left arm would start tingling and getting heavy with severe chest pains and heart palpitations.

Now when that happens you should be worried.

I have depression and anxiety/OCD too. They're not disorders IMO (ignore my ignorance)

OH GOD OH GOD WEZ. WHere'd you come from. It's so funny we posted at the same time AND i went on about my beliefs in these disorders. IM sorry BAE

Thanks for the replies. Realliy appreciated.

So in summary I don't need to be worried? I also read brain damage as result of meth causes impaired memory and motor function. I don't really experience those things, so I should be OK?

I know it sounds ridiculous for me to ask such things, but those who suffer from OCD will know why I'm so obsessed about this, especially because I'm not in favour of drugs, so it's against my values, which make my obsessions worse.

Still find it hard to let go... I hate OCD so much... I tried to reassure myself by saying I dont have any motor or memory impairment but nothing helps. What on earth should I do? If only there was a test to prove everything's ok...

You're fine.

It is still being prescribed as ADD medication.

All drugs' side effects are dose dependent. That drug becomes dangerous when you've completely lost your mind from redosing and abusing it for days and days.

It sounds like you didn't have a very enjoyable experience, so just don't repeat it.
