Unfortunately picking and closing ones jobs is not exactly an option for most. No disrespect to monsta but if he's going into work ripped to the tits on a Semi-regular basis then the odds of him being able to pick and chose careers/jobs are even more remote.

I once snapped my key in my lock and had to break a window and climb into my flat. Whilst sweeping up the broken glass I looked up and saw two cops through (what was left) of the smashed bedroom window...one with a tazer pointed at me and the other with his truncheon drawn. After explaining it was my house and producing some ID, the cop phoned the locksmith and glazer for me (he said they would arrive quicker if the call came through from a policeman). He then got his first aid kit from the car and helped me dress the gaping wound in my forearm that now was pissing blood from cutting it on the broken glass (later required 18 stitches).
He was one of the nicest coppers I've ever met.....the very fact he didn't tazer me left me extremely grateful.
To me he seems a cunt. So you was sweeping up glass in your own flat, he pointed a fucking tazer at you? Do burglars usually stay in burgled house and clean up the glass after?

Aye that did cross my mind too. How many burglars stay behind to make sure the homeowner doesn't accidentally step on a piece of glass in his bare feet lol!.
I think what had happened is the neighbour in the house behind mine had called the cops and told them my house was being burgled and they creeped up to the window tazer at the ready and it probably took their brains a few.seconds to work out what the fuck was going on.
I actually scored when it came to getting the window fixed as I was able to prove that the lock was faulty and with it being a bank holiday Monday and me having no money in my pocket and my wallet and phone being inside the house I needed to be in to access my meds. This meant that breaking the window was deemed a reasonable way to force entry into the house and I didn't have to pay for it.
I've since been on a course through work on best ways to force entry into a property run by the police and let's just say I would do it differently if the occasion ever arose again as breaking plate glass windows and climbing through is too dangerous.

Quite the opposite, I've been fired several times, fortunately I'm very good at what I do in an industry where there is a shortage of good developers. The last job interview I went to they ask why I left my job and I told them I was sacked for being a work after taking too much valium and they still hired me. I am trying to clean up my act though, the other day was just stupid, I was so fucked I kept falling over at first, managed to straighten myself out just enough once I got to work

The locksmith can't get there till after 10, plus they made a mess that you need to clear up. Also insurance company to call and I can't work as I'm an emotional mess.
I will admit it's a shit idea though. Not for the practical reasons pointed out, because it would create lots of follow up questions that'd need more lies.
Best to keep it simple and say you've got the shits.
